Making new plant friends everywhere I go 👐🏼 happy Monday everyone! Hope you have an amazing week 🌟
Goodbye summer 👋🏼 you were a weird one. I spent most of our time together inside too sick to leave my apartment, but you slipped in for an hour or two a day anyway to say hello and that was nice 🌞 until next year, my friend 💛✨✨
A few things that make me happy: sunsets, reading in a garden, seeing my friends realise their dreams, peace, freshly-washed hair, being by my the sea, books (writing and reading them), cuddles, short dresses, wine, being tanned, and feeling every moment of this wonderful, difficult, unpredictable life. The list goes on... tell me some of yours 👐🏼
It feels like a lifetime ago that I was in this gorgeous city for the first time, the first book in the GIRLS trilogy still six months from publication, with absolutely no idea of the adventures that were to soon come my way 🇺🇸 Thank you to my amazing publisher @jimmypattersonbooks for giving me the most amazing opportunities! I hope to be visit NYC again next year for the publication of GIRLS 3, but more importantly I hope all my US friends are doing well and keeping safe as can be. Sending lots of love across the ocean 💙
Peachy moments in lovely Kefalonia 🌺🌤 This beautiful trip was over four years ago now and I have wanted to go back every day since, and for my 30th birthday this year my amazing friends got together to offer me a surprise trip there this summer. Of course, like most people’s summer plans, it hasn’t come to pass, but I’m dreaming of being there next year, amidst the pines and bougainvillea and candy-coloured sunsets. Don’t you love it when you visit a place for the first time and right away it feels like home? 🧡
Happy Bastille Day to my Frenchies! This picture wasn’t taken today obvs if you’ve seen my stories, but it is representative of two things I love best about France - the food and the wine 😅👐🏼🇫🇷 Safe celebrations!
Happy pride! 🌈 Love is love is love is love. Can’t believe we still need this reminder but here we are. I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy and happy, and treating others as kindly as you’d like you and your loved ones to be treated 💙💚🖤💛🧡❤️💜🤍
Got some angry messages about being too political lately. How much do I care? 0%. If things are ‘too political’ for you then you are privileged enough to not be affected by the shit others have to deal with on a day to day basis. As a queer, disabled woman of colour, I am not. But I also want to stand up for others who face prejudice. I’m active about these issues in real life and I will be active about them online too. So if you don’t like it, I’d suggest leaving now 👋🏼 If you’re avoiding political content for health reasons, that’s a different issue, and I hope you find a way to balance self-care with care of others. It’s hard, but important. 📷 @paolakudacki #blacklivesmatter #hongkongprotests
Paris through bars. I went for a walk today around the park near me (all parks within Paris are still locked) and honestly, I cried the whole way. To be so close to nature, all the leaves and green and springtime flowers, and not to be able to properly be a part of it, was really hard. All the while dodging the hundreds of joggers on the one metre pavement with the cars and motorbikes rotating past to my other side. But at least I got to be nearby - a lot of that crying was happy crying too - and one day the parks will open again and I’ll be reunited with the feeling of grass beneath my bare feet. Nature is such a privilege 💚 If you have access to it, please treat and love and appreciate it as such 🤗
Happy Monday all! 😚 I bought this jumper from @sassyspudshop before quarantine to wear it around Paris, where I get shouted at and harassed and followed and grabbed and annoyed and generally disturbed by men all the time. Every day sexual harassment here is shockingly high - I rarely leave the flat without an issue. Maybe because I only leave the flat a couple of times a week I notice it more, but it’s definitely a real issue in this country and I hope more men here learn that a random woman in the street owes them nothing and is certainly not theirs to touch or speak to in such a way that feels as invasive as touching. Ok they probably won’t understand what the sweatshirt says anyway, but it’ll make me feel a little better, like it’s my own secret f you can I all these assholes. NOT YOUR HONEY 🙅🏻♀️🐝🍯🖕🏼
Awkward window manœuvres to read in the sunshine (swipe right for an accidentally very bummy photo that my mum won’t be happy I posted but oh well I’m 30 I’m a big girl now 😅). This tiny balcony is only big enough to fit one of my bum cheeks, so I’m balancing here on the windowsill, basically giving myself a plastic wedgie, so I’m very glad it only took a couple of seconds to take the photo! I’ve still mostly been resting for my heart issues, which are still causing me quite a bit of problems, but luckily I love the slow life. Lots of books (here I’m reading an advance copy of @rosellewriter’s wonderful new book VANESSA YU’S MAGICAL PARIS TEA SHOP, out in August!) and cuddles and tea and Switch time, plus a little writing here and there when I’m able. I’m excited to get back to work properly - I have a few projects I need to get done, including of course the third and final GIRLS. but I’m trying to learn not to push my body too much (and not feel too guilty about it). I can tell I’m not quite there just yet to be back to a normal working routine. But soon I hope! Anyway, sending lots of love and light from France to all your quarantine spaces around the world! Hope you are enjoying the slower pace of life too and discovering beauty and joy in the small things 😚
