If you spend any time on our home waters along the northern Oregon Coast, it will be impossible to not notice all the clear cuts, slash piles and rumbling log trucks. You will also notice many road signs proudly pointing towards the many fish hatcheries. These are all blatant reminders of the two major factors plaguing our wild fish: irresponsile logging and disasterous hatchery practices. These wild fish are in serious danger, and whether you live in Oregon or not, they need the help of all anglers because someday it could be your home waters that need a friend. Please visit the link in bio to quickly take action to show your support for Oregon Coast steelhead and their future protection. #ItsAllHomeWater 📷 1 & 2 @jeremykoreski 📷 3, 4 & 5 public lands @tillamookstateforest
They say the darkest hour is right before the dawn...On the eve of Earth Day 2020, the Trump administration celebrated our home planet by ravaging the Clean Water Act, the core law that safeguards America’s waters from pollution. “President Trump just removed protections for tributaries and wetlands in your community,” said Rose Marcario, president and CEO of Patagonia. “This comes after polluting your air, putting your public lands under threat and ignoring the climate crisis.” Enacted in 1972, the Clean Water Act was a bipartisan agreement to protect all “waters of the United States.” Trump’s newly published Navigable Waters Protection Rule severely limits which waters are protected by the Act, putting at risk our wetlands, the headwaters and tributaries of our rivers, and critical habit for fish and wildlife. This shocking and careless trashing of clean water protections is the latest act of environmental sabotage by the Trump administration. Tell your member of Congress: Don’t let the EPA weaken the Clean Water Act! #ItsAllHomeWater Link in bio to find your Rep!
This is a glimpse at some of our home water from this Winter. It’s not snowing anymore and we aren’t fishing anymore though. We are waiting patiently to rejoin our friends and family on the water. In the meantime please join us along with @patagonia_flyfish as they introduce “Its All Home Waters: Oregon Steelhead,” their first feature in an ongoing series highlighting the people and groups doing the critical work for a fishable future. We may not be able to fish right now but we can still do all that we can for wild fish and clean water. #ItsAllHomeWater 📷 @jeremykoreski Link in bio to learn more...

Communities along the Snake and Columbia Rivers that depend on the sportfishing economy recognize the recent Federal Hydropower Plan for the Columbia basin will fail to recover salmon and steelhead. These communities need a long-term solution that restores the lower Snake River and provides wild fish for the future... Today (Monday, April 13th) is the final day to submit comments on the draft of the Federal Hydropower Plan. Link in bio to easily submit comments... It is time to abandon the failing status quo and build a resilient future for the Columbia and Snake watersheds...it is time to #freethesnake @savewildsalmon @wildsteelheadcoalition
Are you looking forward to the Fall as much as we are? This is a common view of smiles at our Deschutes River Basecamp. To ensure the future of smiles on the river we need abundant wild steelhead and open fisheries. The ODFW Fish Commission is meeting next week to discuss adopting Thermal Angling Sanctuaries for the Summer months in the Columbia River. This is a long overdue and necessary protection for salmon and steelhead stressed in the warm Summer months and crowded into small areas of cool oxygenated water. They need to hear from you now to show your support for Thermal Angling Sanctuaries. Follow the link in bio to send a quick note. Thanks for your time! Your support should help push this across the finish line @wildsteelhead #ftsbasecamp
