Repost from @mcfarlanetrainingsystems • Strong is strong! ... Odd lifts are a big part of our off season or out of camp GPP ... they are a great work of developing global strength, maintaining conditioning levels and challenging the athlete with less conventional movements ... we love using them in circuits with other odd lifts and sled work! Mix up your training! Give them a go! #repost #fightcampconditioning

📸 @coachbz ・・・ Long Term vs Short Term Weight Loss (Chronic vs Acute) · One thing fighters do is confuse short term weight loss with long term weight loss. Fighters are mainly looking for short term weight loss when speaking of 24 hour weigh-ins. “Short term” weight loss involves losing scale weight with everything except body fat while “Long term” weight loss involves body fat % loss. Body fat % loss is a long process of eating fewer calories than your body burns over time. Period. This is the law of thermodynamics. · Starving yourself before weigh-ins is futile since at that point calories are not going to matter. What matters is losing fluids from the body, losing glycogen and eliminating gut contents. Cutting weight is not a healthy endeavor and you should not be worrying about eating only “clean” foods. In fact it could be detrimental since what most people consider as “clean” foods such as chicken and broccoli do not provide a lot of energy but do contribute to quite a bit of weight in the gut. You should prioritize calorie dense foods that do not contain fiber. Chocolate is actually not a bad option here and just one example. It is a high calorie food that provides a lot of energy but does not weigh much and does not contain fiber. (Fiber should be eliminated around 3 days before weigh-ins and a 225 pound fighter can theoretically lose almost 5 pounds in 3 days ingesting NO fiber). · · DANGERS: Cutting weight is dangerous and do it at your own risk. Heat tolerance and aerobic capacity are compromised when cutting weight. Although there is no evidence that your chin gets weaker or you’re more prone to getting KO’d, injury rates do go up as the amount of weight cut increases. · A lot of information on this topic I learned from Mr. @reidrealebjj who runs an excellent site CombatSportsNutrition.com and Mr. @rpdrmike who runs RenaissancePeriodization.com.
