LONDON 🖤 #BlackLivesMatter
June is Pride month for the LGBTQ community. We must come together to secure the safety of black LGBTQ people in jail and immigration detention. With 1 in 2 transgender prisoners sexually abused it is incredibly important to get them released as quick as possible. Today i’m supporting the LGBTQ+ FREEDOM FUND which is a black owned charity here to post bond and provide case management. Help me in donating through the link in my stories ❤️#ARTISTSFORBLACKLIVES
There have been over 5,000 protestors arrested thus far! A lot of them wrongfully arrested for peaceful protesting. @bailproject believe that paying bail for someone in need is an act of resistance and they work to get protestors out of jail and back home as safely and as quickly as possible! Follow the link in my story to donate to their cause!! #ARTISTSFORBLACKLIVES
If you care about the injustice that is happening to black people in America, join me in donating and spreading the word. Over the next week I'm pledging to donate and raise visibility of organisations like @campaignzero who are working to end police violence. Check the link in my stories of more information and help spread awareness by tagging a friend and putting a 🤝 in the comments. #ARTISTSFORBLACKLIVES
My heart breaks for you and for the injustices you’ve suffered for so many generations. What you have lived through day after day, the rest of the world has either upheld or wilfully ignored or sleepwalked through. But now no one can say they didn’t know. I’m sorry it’s taken the world this long to wake up to your suffering. It’s been painful to see my friends hurting and I’m committed to being part of the solution for however long it takes. I will never know what it’s like to be discriminated against for the colour of my skin but I know that I can and will stand up to injustice and seek equality and fight alongside you. It’s going to take a huge collective effort to make the world we want to see. Here are the charities that I’m supporting. If you have the means to donate to these organisations, please do and if you can’t, please share them on your stories and with your friends + family. - BLACK LIVES MATTER NY - Minnesota Freedom Fund - Reclaim the block - The Bail Project I’ve also put up a google doc link on my story where you can donate to protesters bail by city. The attorney phone numbers and email addresses are there too. I hear you, I see you, I stand with you, I love you and I will support you until you are heard, seen and treated the way EVERY HUMAN BEING should be treated. I stand in solidarity with you, always x
Always here standing beside you as a friend and an ally. I promise to stand by you every step of the way especially during this heartbreaking time where we need to stand up, support and show solidarity with our black brothers and sisters in the lgbtq+ community that need us the most right now. I will speak up for you to the very best of my ability and I will always love you. I say this a lot but as we know tomorrow isn’t promised so we must remember to live our TRUTH. Louder than ever. Together. 🏳️🌈💖 #pridemonth #marshapjohnson #blacklivesmatter
RIP George Floyd How many more lives do we have to lose? Surely this has to be the tipping point when we ALL face up to the police brutality that has been captured on video for everyone to see. Surely this is when we say STOP, we will not tolerate any more generations of black Americans and people of color growing up in fear of those who should protect them. When an unarmed and handcuffed man is murdered by the police in broad daylight while begging for his life, those in authority need to know that our outrage knows no bounds. We demand justice. There are many ways to make your voice heard. Sign the petition, get on the phone, talk to your family, friends and kids. If you are a business owner, make a public statement of support to your black clients, friends and co-workers. We can be the change. We have to start the conversation in our own circles. This is sickening. It’s got to stop. #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd #GeorgeFloyd #blacklivesmatter
