Most people go into their first competition not even being aware of it. Sadly any competitor that goes into a physique competition blind to it will most likely get so twisted afterwards that their first taste of the "stage" will be ruined. . 📈From the ground breaking highs of comp day. . 📉 to the devastating lows of the post comp. . 💁🏻♂️ It’s called peak week for a reason. . 😊 By definition you will not be any better . 😫By definition you will get worse. . 🙄You will gain body fat. . 🤷🏻♂️ There is no way around it. . There is 2 main symptoms . ➡️ Being outcome based and no processed based. We prep for months, on a set diet/training/cardio plan. Everything is a requirement. The day of the competition arrives, and regardless of the outcome, at the end of the day, IT'S OVER! The next day you wake up, and that first meal or your morning cardio session is not a “requirement" anymore. All of a sudden you don't have a "deadline" and a plan to get there. . ➡️ Trying to keep that competition look afterwards, or more so, we don't want to let it go. The Monday after a show, you decide after a weekend of pigging out to get back to that "pre contest" diet you were on 1 week out from the show (dumbest thing ever really). People fail to realise that though it yields some of the best conditioning ever, how negative the whole process is on the body after a long period of time. . MY TIPS TO DODGE THIS PHASE 🙌🏼 . ➡️ Set a new goal with a deadline preferably performance based. Having a definitive deadline for the date of comp is great for motivation. . ➡️DO NOT STOP TRAINING by stopping these you increase the rate at which you gain body fat…. but more so you slip out of the habit and become demotivated beyond belief . ➡️reverse diet/reverse cardio out of your show . The only people who truly need to detox are those who breakfast on alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, cocaine, methamphetamines, ketamine, or bath salts, and perhaps those that use the swimmin' hole next to the factory that bleeds lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, radionuclides, and arsenic. . Conversely, accidentally eating some non-organic beets doesn't require de-toxification or cleansing, especially through the use of some funky herbs that were grown under some artisanal granola maker's porch. . Consider that in 2009, ten companies that manufactured detox products couldn't name a single toxin that their products were supposed to target. That should tell you something, which is that morons make the world go round. . Besides, you already have an excellent "detox" system in place, courtesy of your liver, kidneys, lungs, and other organs. They do quite well in ridding your body of the byproducts of metabolism. Nelson Mandela said there is no passion to be found playing small and settling for a life that’s less than you are capable of living. . This is my last show vs my first show. i was young, dumb, broke, had no expectations , wasn’t in the perfect position to compete and was told multiple times “make sure you have something to fall back on” . ..but i took a fair good shot at it and now i’m 15 shows deep with nine 1st places, have a successful career as a coach/pt and an awesome sponsorship with @dymatize / @superiorsupplements and certainly don’t need a “fall back plan”. . To everyone heading into this comp prep season as a first timer or someone that wants to compete but is unsure because they are not “ready”. YOU WILL NEVER BE READY. “Everybody wants to be a beast until it's time to do what beast do” . Everyone has seen this quote before slammed across an image of a lion with a blood covered mouth. . But being a beast isn’t about the feed, It’s about the hunt. . The Lion and the Gazelle EVERY day in Africa wake up. The gazelle has this notion of “it must out run the lion to survive”. i don't know what your life entitles or what issues you have to out run whether it is alcohol, drugs, depression, the past, bad dieting or procrastination but every single day everyone of us have something to run from to survive. . The similarity between the lion and the gazelle? Although the lion is considered to be the most dangerous and the most powerful beast he to wakes up with notion he has to run and hunt otherwise otherwise his family and himself won’t survive. . now, the gazelle isn't just going to allow the lion to hunt him down. So it runs and runs and runs until it finally loses the lion. . The difference? If the gazelle isn’t being chased it will stop! If there is nothing forcing the gazelle to run or keep going it will stop! Where as the lion doesn't need to be pushed, it doesn't need anything external. The lion has everything inside that defines a beast. Thats what makes a beast, If there is no short term reward if you are self motivated and if its passion waking you up instead of your alarm clock. . I personally can relate this back to a typical competitor. You see it all the time from 20 weeks out the whole way to competition day. 5am cardio until they are dripping with sweat, diet to perfection ( an extra almond would have them doing an extra hour cardio) and training on point with so much intensity although being on a crazy calorie deficit. Comp day comes around and everything changes. . The day after Comp you hear “i’m taking this week off”, cardio gets missed each morning, diet disappears, the depression sets in and the drive for training is non existent. .
