Thick slices of Challah are always the best for french toast, especially when topped with Skyr, caramelized cinnamon apples and pomegranate seeds. That was the brunch mood at home this morning🍞 Tonight is set to be a very special night. I've been waiting about 10 years to see @boniver live and tonight @isagilmore_ a few friends and I, will be going to the concert ✨✨✨ @feistmusic opening up for them is nothing short of amazing. Hope you are having a beautiful Sunday!!
Yesterday I made a big batch of pumpkin coconut granola (seriously, I think it will last until Christmas ☺️) 🍂 It's studded with cashews, almonds, pepita seeds, walnuts, hemp hearts and spiced with cinnamon and freshly ground cardamom that I brought from Israel. 🍂 The recipe will be coming to the blog soon, but in the meantime, this morning I topped these pumpkin chia puddings with it and it was heaven👌🏽 coconut Skyr and pomegranate seeds made it even better. Happy 1st of October my friends!
For as long as I can remember, butternut squash soup has been my favorite. It brings memories of home and how my mom makes it for our family everytime she comes visit. 🍂 This luscious version comes from @antoni 's new Cookbook (which by the way, it's amazing 🙌🏽) The butternut squash is roasted in the oven, which caramelizes it and gives it such a wonderful flavour, plus the ginger and lime zest in it, makes this soup one I'll be making over and over this Fall. Top it with a bit of sour cream (or Greek yogurt also works well) cilantro and cashews, and enjoy! Do you have a favorite soup? Let me know in the comments below!
Have you ever had a Sabich? This classic Tel Aviv snack food, has won my heart. Filled with moist slices of fried eggplant, hard-boiled egg, a generous layer of creamy hummus, crunchy Israeli pickles, Israeli salad, and drizzled with tahini sauce and amba, a pickled-mango sauce, it's all you could want in any sandwich and more 🙌🏽 We had one of the best ones during our visit at @lehamimbakery a.k.a the bakery of my dreams, where @rinattzadok showed us how to make them and soon they will be on the blog 🤗 @vibeisrael Photo taken by @amir_menahem_ And edited by yours truly ❤️
Madeleines have a very special place in my heart. When I was attending Le Cordon Bleu for pastry, our teacher would often bake us a batch after our 7 hour class, and it was the perfect ending to our day. So when I got the Downton Abbey Cookbook, this month's pick for the @chaptersindigo Cookbook Club, I couldn't resist making this recipe. Hints of vanilla bean and a perfectly delicate crumb make these Madeleines a recipe to make over and over again, especially now that the weather calls for baking. The recipes are also accompanied by anecdotes and stunning photography. Make sure you visit indigo.ca/cookbook-club for more info and how to join and use the #cookwithindigo if you make any of the recipes ❤️ Do you have a go-to baking recipe you love? When you are literally dreaming about this breakfast at the end of yoga practice ☺️🧘🏽♀️ A little bit of everything on my plate today. Garlic mushrooms, olive oil fried eggs, halloumi, homemade Labneh with Za'tar and Israeli salad. Because I have been missing the food in Tel Aviv so much since I got back. And how could I not? Fresh vegetables, bold flavours, earthy spices and so very vibrant. I hope you are having a beautiful Saturday my friends 🤗 @isagilmore_ is home and we are going to spend the day at the beach with Warren and @gab.y.p. Feeling happy and grateful♥️
Gaby and I have been making tons of plant based meals lately. Truth is, the meals have been utterly delicious + anything that helps the environment, we are here for it. We made these crispy and garlicky smashed potatoes, topped them with @lightlifefoods plant based Ground, and a fresh tomato, cucumber, and red onion salsa. Let me tell you that this recipe will be on rotation for the rest of the summer because it was SO good!!! Lightlife Plant Based Ground, has 20 grams of protein per serving🙌🏼 it's super satisfying and perfect for so many other recipes. I'll be adding it to our taco night this week🌿 *Ad #surpriseyourself
Back home filled with wonderful memories from the trip! Came back with so many ingredients that I picked all over the markets we visited, and can't wait to work on some recipes to share with you on the blog. In the meantime, I've made roasted salmon with with new potatoes and green beans. One of my favorite go-to meals👌🏼 For the salmon, the marinade is a easy as mixing 1/3 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice, the juice of 1lime, 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, 4 cloves chopped garlic, 2 tbsp whole grain mustard, 1 tbsp maple syrup, 1 teaspoon sea salt and pinch of freshly ground pepper. Roast or bake in the oven at 375 F for 25- 30 minutes - set the last minute to broil the top. For the potatoes:(400 gr) toss them with 2 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp lemon juice, 2/2 tsp sea salt a pinch of pepper, 1 tbsp chopped garlic and add your favorite herb. I love chives or rosemary on these 🌿wrap in foil and cook on the BBQ for about 30 minutes or place them on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 25 minutes at 375 F. For the green beans: drizzle them with 3 tbsp sesame oil, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste, 1 chopped garlic clove, pinch of salt and pepper and cook on a skillet until tender. Hope you are having a great week!!
Today is our last day in Tel Aviv. To say that this trip has been a life changing experience would be an understatement. Not only did I fall in love with this beautifully vibrant country, its breathtaking views, the out of this world food (can we please take a moment to take a look at this delicious Sabich?🙌🏼) But I've also made friends for life. I felt home away from home. And can truly say that what captivated me the most is that after years of traveling, I've never met friendlier people. Thank you to my friends @frommylittlekitchen @asimplepantry @ezpzmealz @evseats for so much love and so many laughs. I'm so glad we got to experience the beauty of Israel together. And to my dear friends from @vibeisrael @tamarsa and @bar.damti, I am so honoured and grateful for the gift that was to meet you and spend time with you. You showed me so much kindness and both of you reflect what this country is all about. @amir_menahem_ you taught me so much about food photography this week and I am forever grateful to you 🙏🏼To everyone I met here, thank you from the bottom of my heart. There comes a time, when you realize you've experienced something that changes you forever. Today, I had the honour to be at @avnerlaskin's home, where he made us dishes the way he know best. Pouring his whole soul into it, choosing flavour over technique and putting vegetables foward. From the wood fire oven to his table. It was the most transformative experience I've had since I started cooking. To see someone that after decades of being in the food industry, leading several restaurants and publishing over 20 cookbooks, can be so humble, so kind, so welcoming and genuinely eager to share, is truly a thing of beauty. I am so honoured to have witnessed that today, that I could cry (tears of happiness of course 🥰) because not only is Avner a truly inspiring human being, but his food philosophy speaks to me in every level) This is a day I will never forget and another reason to love this country even more @vibeisrael #vibefood
Another beautiful day in Israel surrounded by friends and as you've seen by now, the most amazing food! Today we took a 2 hour trip to Gesher, a village that borders with Jordan, to have brunch @rutenberg_restaurant, a farm to table gem where we also got a chance to learn about fermentation, and foraging. From poacheds egg over buttery polenta, to roasted beets over cashew yogurt, our meal was a fantastic 🙌🏽 Our trip continued by walking around the vibrant Vadi Nisnas Market in Haifa with @natalyendzweig and @erezgolko, a couple passionate about food who took us to their favorites spots in the market where to feast on pita with Jibneh cheese, vegetarian dolmas, and halva. Plus we got to learn so much about Sumac and Za'tar! Nataly and Erez, led a workshop at their home, and taught us how to make fig carpaccio (it is to die for!) Tatziki with garlic confit, ceviche (quite sure the best I've had) and Kanafeh. While we gathered in their beautiful terrace before going back to Tel Aviv, I couldn't help but think that the best part about this trip has been the people. People that seconds after metting you, make you feel like family. And I believe the world needs more of that ❤️ @vibeisrael #vibefood Photo # 6 taken by my friend @amir_menahem_
When your day includes artisanal pistachio ice cream in the middle of the morning, you have no other choice but to smile all day long🤗 Today was all about an epic brunch party, where we ate our way through four spots in the city. Eggs Benedict, housemade granola and fruit + boozy cocktails at @benedictbreakfast, then @lehamimbakery for the most deliciously flaky cheese burekas. We also had Sabich drizzled with the best tahini I've had🙌🏽. The brunch party continued with ice cream at @buzainsta, a local gem that unites Jewish and Arab flavours, and our final stop was at the iconic @mantaraytelaviv for a Mezze spread with flavours from around the world, local seafood and you know it, more cocktails🍹 When I think this trip couldn't get any better, it simply does. And each day I've been blown away by the amazing food scene in Israel. Now, we are of to dinner with @betzavta. Friday night family dinners are a special occasion here, and I can't wait to be a part of experiencing it tonight.
