In Singapore, stalls, cafes and kiosks selling predominantly drinks were declared non-essential services this week so they have had to close. You can still buy takeaway drinks from full-service cafes, restaurants and food courts though. When news broke, bubble tea fans queued up to get their sugar fix an hour before the shops had to cease business while Starbucks fans were grateful that Starbucks sells hot meals so phew, business as usual! This covid19 thing has really changed our lives week by week, hasn’t it? 🥤🍹☕️
It’s my husband’s 42nd birthday today but in these Covid19 times, it means no friends or family over, no dining out at some fancy place, no present shopping... and almost no cake as shops, cafes and factories selling non-essential food items like bubble tea, cakes, ice cream and other snacks had to close this week due to new social distancing measures. But I managed to get him a slice of rainbow cake from a cafe!
