Devil’s Teeth Aged in Bourbon Barrels with Pistachios and Coconut by @moderntimesbeer. This beer delivered again this year! Very delicious and the flavors start to come out as it gets warmer. Well done.

Really digging TP for my Acai Bowl Pastry Lager by @creativecreaturebrewing! Wow! This is definitely a different take on a Lager. This beer is jam packed with a ton of Acai, Acerola Cherries, Raspberries and Honey. One reason I drink a lot of IPA’s and Stouts is because I feel like more creativity goes into those styles of beers as opposed to most Lagers. But this beers has everything I look for in craft beer. Great job to the guys at CC.

Apparently pairing @jagermeisterusa with a beer is a thing. When the folks at Jägermeister approached me and asked me to find a beer that paired well with Jägermeister, I wasn’t quite sure what I would pair it with so I tried a few combinations. The idea was to have a shot of Jägermeister first and then chase it with a craft beer. Thousands of Money Hazy IPA by @purebrewing paired the best with it. I felt the after taste of the Jägermeister combine with the citrus notes of the hazy IPA were excellent and unique. Close second was Ice Pilsner with lime and seas salt by @moderntimesbeer. Had to whip out this Imperial Smoked Porter by @firestonewalker to go with my bone-in Ribeye from @fasteaks! Although I’m not a big fan of smoked beers, I figured this would be a great combo. As the beer started to warm up I was able to truly enjoy everything it had to offer 👌🏼 What kind of beer do you usually pair your steak with?
So stocked to hear that my friends at @rouleurbrewing are crushing it and have plans to expand their brewery by taking over the space next door. Congrats! 🎉 I remember being there since day one 3 years ago and chatting with Rawley to try to help him better understand what the current taste buds were looking for in craft beer. One of the things I always admired about Rawley is how humble and receptive he was to some of my ideas. He was always willing to give it a shot and try again if the beer didn’t quite hit his standards. 👏🏻 I’ve met a lot of cocky brewers who are closed-minded and refuse to keep up with the times and later go out of business. As I’ve always said, new breweries need the support from us, the consumer, even when they’re brand new and their beer might not be the most hyped up beer out there. If you take the time to get to know the people behind the beer and see how passionate they are for making good craft beer, you’ll be able to get behind any brewery during the years that matter the most and support them. Most businesses go out of business within the first 1-3 years so it’s critical to support them during those years. This is a great example of someone who has overcome many challenges in this industry (and I mean, MANY challenges) and has succeeded through hard work and dedication. If you haven’t taken the time to stop by their brewery in Carlsbad, please do, you won’t regret it. Let me know if you’ve ever met a cocky brewer who thinks he/she knows it all and refuses to take constructive criticism?
