Lots of new faces around here so I thought I'd reintroduce myself. Hi! I'm Chelsea Caris, I'm 29 (30 in June omg 😆) and I'm a mama of 4 beautiful children. Silas is my step son, Adelyn is my biological miracle ivf baby and my twin boys Ethan and Kyle up in heaven. I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility when I was 26. Yes 26. I couldn't believe it. I've experienced multiple miscarriages, chemical pregnancies and failed fertility treatments which has weighed heavy on me for a long time. Luckily for me, I found this incredible community here on Instagram that really helped and supported me through this journey. Recently, I moved from CA --> Nashville, TN. My husband and I are country folk so why not move to the heart of country right? It's been such a crazy adventure but quite the exciting one. Random things about me, I really love mashed potatoes. I'd eat them everyday if I could. Also, a favorite snack of mine is dipping my Oreos in Mac n cheese. Lol. Yeah you read that correctly. I studied dancer for almost 20 years. I'm a photographer and just recently made it an official business. I'm absolutely terrified of birds and butterflies 😂 and my favorite hobby besides photography and playing with my kids is reading thriller/mystery novels! Tell me something about you! I'd love to get to know you!
"So you did it the easier way?" Referring to my epidural, and other women who've had C sections. First of all let me just say, there is NO easy way to have a baby. You are removing a human being from your body. Literally removing a human that is attached to you by placenta and a cord. There is ABSOLUTELY no wrong way to have a baby. Your baby, your body, your plan, your business. Me? My birth didn't go as planned. My hips were finally cooperating and they thought I'd progress just fine. Wrong. I could barely dilate the way I should have and my contractions were so painful. So yes, I got an epidural because my pain was excessively rising and I felt that if I didn't have some sort of pain management that I would pass out. I delivered Addy after hours of pushing and then proceeded to immediately get rushed into surgery due to a uterine hemorrhage. Every pregnancy, every woman's body. Every birth plan is different. We must respect women's choices because we have no idea the battles they fight daily, and we also don't know all of the health circumstances they are facing. What do y'all think? I think all birth plans are beautiful whether it's natural, epidural, c section, VBAC, home birth, hospital birth etc. How did you give birth to your babes?
Story time. One time I was dating this guy, and to be funny I took a bit of whipped cream from a milkshake I had and nailed him in the nose. I'm a goofball so I do silly things like that. He immediately got angry at me. Being messy isn't funny, putting whipped cream on his face was rude and uncalled for. I remember that day because I taught me that some people take life too seriously, and I need to stay away from those people. My dad taught me this. When I was about 7 or 8, my dad drove us to the beach for the day. We spend all day playing tag with the waves and building sand castles. On the way home we stopped to get burgers and drinks for the road. I was in the back seat and we hit a bump in the road making me drop my soda everywhere. I felt terrible, thinking my dad would be upset for not holding it tight enough Etc. I told him what happened obviously and he pulled over to see the mess. He opened the back seat and look all over and said "well there's only one thing to do." He grabbed the soda can and proceeded to dump the rest of the soda out ALL OVER THE CARS BACKSEAT. I was stunned, and confused. Then he told me this "never take life too seriously, it's just a car, it's just a soda. We had a great day at the beach, and this stuff won't ever ruin it. These kinds of things just don't matter. Our day mattered though." We smiled and we hugged. And not that it needs to be said, but I never saw that guy again. Now I have a husband who laughs with me, plays with me, appreciates things with me. ♥️ I'll teach my daughter and my son to have fun in life, remind them that little bumps in the road should stop you in your tracks, don't waste a day, don't cry over spilled anything. And laugh... all the damn time. Please share and remind someone who needs to remember to love themselves and love their life ♥️
I can't seem to pry these toys out of Addy's hands now. She's constantly playing, shaking and biting the toys from @toylabus . They make many different kinds of teething toys and noise makers. They are safe, durable and just way too much fun. Addys favorite is this flower which also doubles as a little whistle/ kazoo. It teachers hew to blow into it to make noise and she's always giggles after! Do you babies use teething toys yet?
Shameless mirror selfie. Haven't done one of those in a while. This is what motherhood looks like sometimes. A hot mess. My hair is a mess, the bathroom is a mess, my make up ain't even close to done, my clothes aren't matching and Addy is clingy as all get out. But you know what? That's okay, because life is messy. In this photo though, I feel very confident and comfortable in my own skin. I'm a good mother. My kids are fed, the necessary things I needed to do are done, and here we are. Alive and well, just messy 🥰. A good kind of messy. Tell me your favorite part about yourself? Mine is my mommy tummy.
Baby's don't keep. The grow so fast, learn so much, become independent and then suddenly they are on their own. I was putting Addy down for a nap. I usually lay with her until she falls asleep then move her to her crib. I needed to get some work done but then suddenly she rolled over and grabbed my neck and didn't let go. I couldn't possible move. How could I pull away from the love she was giving to me even while she slept. Her love for me is unconditional and and pure. So I stayed. These moments pass and soon she will wake up and be off and running around with her brother. I knew I'd regret it if I moved away. So I stayed. I snuggled. I loved on Addy like she was loving on me. Worth every second. Does anyone else do this? Just soak in the moments even if you had other plans?
There's not really much of a caption here. One year ago, we brought our daughter home. After 3 nights in the hospital for Mommy and Addys recovering from a traumatic birth, we went home. Together. A family. 💕 I love you so much Adelyn Jane.
We are FINALLY getting some real consistent outside time. The weather has been so nice and thanks to @skideeofficial Silas is mastering his scooter skills and playing around outside so much more! Because of Covid and all of the storms we've been cooped up in the house forever but that's all changing now. It's great because the scooter is adjustable so kids and adults can ride it. Me. I'm adults. I ride it. 😂 as you probably saw in my vlog. If the weather is nice definitely get outside and play with your babies! This is what they will remember. My favorite memory is playing "kick the can" with my dad and cousins in our front yard. What's your favorite fun thing to do outside? Also, wanna win a scooter? Reasons to talk to your babies! 1. Talking to your babies increases their cognitive understanding of things around them. 2. It makes them feel loved (whether they understand you or not) because the attention is on them and they feel heard. 3. It makes them want to talk back as they witness talking being the way of communication between others. 4. They will understand the language and have a higher level or vocabulary at a young age. 5. It's too fun and too cute to hear babies talk! I honestly think the reason Addy is so communicative is because we are constantly talking to her. We tell her everything we are doing it, why we are doing it and we also respond to the babbles she gives us. We may not understand her all the time, but she will know that we are listening and responding. Hearing addy come up with her nonsense words and babbles is the most enjoyable thing. She will smile and try to tell me what she thinks and she is so confident about it. I'll converse back and she just loves it. Do y'all talk to your babies? What do they like to say? 💜😂
