Remember two days ago when it actually felt like Fall and now I’m sweating just walking to my car down the street😅⠀ Earlier this week we celebrated the Jewish new year, and in order to bring in a “sweet new year” we have the tradition to try a new fruit, and this year we went with Asian pears 🍐 ⠀ ⠀ We had a bunch so naturally we threw it on the grill and oh my gosh it was amazzzzzing! Asian pears are pretty much the texture of an apple + the flavor of a pear. Paired with Steve’s Dairy Free Ice Cream (in Moroccan Mashup flavor 10/10).Thanks @jihbjj 😬
🍂October Feels🍂⠀ ⠀ ⠀ I, like most people, truly enjoy this time of year for the crisp cool autumn air, the transition from crop tops to chunky sweaters, and indulging in all things pumpkin spice. After spending almost $6 on a tall PSL from Starbucks, I decided to kick that habit and start making my own. I love spooky season but my wallet doesn’t😂 ⠀ ⠀ My intentions for October include: staying calm amongst all the changes this month will bring, sticking to my budget and maybe saving a bit more money than last month, starting a new book to read for pleasure, and focusing more on my skincare because ya girl hit a second puberty🤪
When life gives me lemons, I put them in my vodka soda and pray for the best😂⠀ ⠀ 2019 is the year of change, growth, adaptability, and gratitude. I’ll be honest, I have not been feeling great the past few weeks. I thought after passing the RD exam and nailing down a job, life would be relatively smooth sailing from there. But it wasn’t. I found myself in a position where I needed to find a new job almost immediately after accepting my first one, and having to change a lot of my plans because things were not going as planned. I know it sounds like not a huge deal, but I found myself in a lot of uncomfortable situations that I just didn’t know how to handle. I’m fortunate though, to have landed a new job with great people and my support system is just unmatched. ⠀ ⠀ Reminding myself to be grateful because no matter what, things can be so much worse. Things I stress over may seem nominal to some, given what life can throw our way, so today I am reminding myself and you all to count your blessings and find something to be grateful for🌟
Had to put social media aside for the past few weeks but it was for good reason..I passed the RD exam and now I’m officially Carly Harris RDN😁😭 I am just beyond excited to have stuck it out the past 5 years and tomorrow I ~officially~ start my first job as a clinical dietitian so it’s a big week for little old me🤪
I used to love PB&J sandwiches on the beach as a kid. I still do every once and a while, but I have really come to love a good salad on the beach🥰 I went two days in a row last week and only got mildly sunburnt (always in random spots where I clearly missed applying some), yesterday Chris took me to Hershey Park as my graduation present and today is my last day of funemployment as I start my big girl job tomorrow 🌞 A really delicious and refreshing salad mix I’ve found was my lunch from this Friday: Kale, white beans, carrots, red onion, blueberries, sliced almonds, and Italian dressing!🥬🥕🥗
There is really nothing like a good smoothie bowl after a long day at a scorching hot beach🤩 Blended together frozen mango, bananas, and berries with cashew milk until smooth and creamy. Topped with toasted almond granola + dark chocolate + sliced almonds + hemp seeds + blueberries♥️
Sometimes I fall asleep knowing what I’m going to have for breakfast. Other days it’s just whatever I’m feeling at the moment is what I end up with. Today was the latter. Everything bagel thin + fresh mozzarella + farm fresh eggs + cabbage/carrot “slaw” + Siracha mayo Story behind the slaw: one time like 2 years ago I had a bfast sandwich in NYC that had a pickled cabbage slaw and I still crave it so whenever I pick up cabbage I try to add it to my bfast sandwiches but since im lazy I don’t pickle it and it’s just sautéed with spices😂
Am I the only one who craves soup during the summer? So bizarre but I find myself wanting it way more during warm weather as opposed to cold🤷🏻♀️ One of my all-time comfort foods is Ramen Noodles. Straight out the $.89 packet and smothered with flavor packets. When I developed some unhealthy eating behaviors I kicked Ramen to the curb and feared it. Recently (college lol) I worked up the desire to make it again but maybe with a lil more good stuff and a lil less sodium. For lunch today it was Ramen with kale, red cabbage, and carrots😋 cooked in low sodium chicken broth with garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, paprika, and a teeny dash of low sodium soy sauce. Cracked an egg in it, a sprinkle of fresh chives, and toasted sesame seeds for good measure🤩
Hi friends! My new YouTube video is out and this week i am talking FitBits! I never realized how useful of a tool (when properly used and not abused) a Fitbit can be in weight management until I put it to the test and it actually helped me lose 25lbs in a healthy sustainable way! Do you wear a smart watch/Fitbit? Check out the link in my bio to hear 4 major reasons it worked for me! #LinkInBio
I have been in kind of a breakfast rut lately. I’m not really in the mood for anything but bread these days (comfort food during life changes??) but made this super easy bfast before tackling the day💥 Thomas light English muffin + veggie cream cheese + red onion + baby cucumber + EBTB Trader Joe’s seasoning, cherries, golden kiwi, and farm fresh blueberries. Filming a YouTube video today on a really fun topic so stay tuned!
Yesterday I graduated from my dietetic internship with my favorite people there to support me♥️ next stop: RD exam!
Had such a lovely morning picking some fresh raspberries and blueberries with my momma♥️💙 Any suggestions with what to do with $30 worth of berries?😂
