After a year of perfect health, yesterday was a terrible day for my Camilo 😔 usually his fevers are well controlled with NSAID. Fever is gone within 1-3 hr. But with his vasculitis history, vets recommended to give prednisone instead, which made sense, since he is more prone to vasculitis (if NSAID is given at episode, prednisone won’t be given if vasculitis appears. [cant mix NSAID+steroid = GI ulceration]). His fever lasted 15 hrs yesterday, and as it progressed his hock swelled more and bruised up 😔. Luckily his fever is gone now, and he started Dr. Tintle’s vasculitis protocol. I really don’t believe his vasculitis will progress, I think he will be getting better day by day 🤞🏻😊 my heart broke all over again yesterday, and anyone who’s dealt with an ongoing fever knows that feeling of “uselessness” I felt all day yesterday, trying everything to make him feel better, but nothing 😔 the Sharpei community never fails to impress, overblown with kind words, advice, and warmth ❤️ thank you all!! Camilo is much better today, just fussy because of all the meds, but he’s the stubbornest of Sharpei, so he will fight until he’s up and running again ❤️🙏🏻 ————————— Después de un año de estar muy saludable y feliz, ayer fue una pesadilla para el Bebé. Por lo regular su fiebre se controlaba en 1-3 hr con su medicamento AINE. Pero con su historial de vasculitis, los Vets recomendaron darle Prednisona cuando tuviera un episodio, en caso de que le vuelva la vasculitis después de su episodio. (Si se le da AINE, y le daba vasculitis, no le íbamos a poder dar esteroides para contrólalo, por el riesgo que le fueran a salir úlceras en el estómago [AINE+esteroides= úlceras]) Ayer su fiebre le duró 15 horas, y como iba progresando su patita se hinchaba y ponía morada, y el cada ves más incómodo con dolor. Llegamos al punto de arrástralo en su camita por que no podía caminar 😔 GAD ya se logró controlar su fiebre, y ya está con su tratamiento de vasculitis de la Dra Tintle. Yo creo que lo peor ya pasó , y creo que ya irá mejorando día a día 🤞🏻😊 Se me partía el corazón verlo así, y quien ha pasado por un episodio de fiebre difícil.[continuado en comentarios]
