“NORMAL” “WEIRD”. I don’t mind being called “weird” for eating riced cauliflower or removing or swapping refined carb laden food, going against the grain. Post by @livevitae Personally, I take it as a compliment 😉 I don’t want to be defined as normal, to me that’s not living. I like to question the norm and that also passes on to my food and lifestyle. — What’s normal to you is not normal for me and likewise. This is based on our perception of ourselves and the world we live in. Back to the food image. Now, carbohydrates are not bad or evil. There’s context. Same thing with fat and protein. Do I need to eat bread and rice. No. Carbs are not an essential nutrient. BUT, in situations they are required and needed for optimal health and especially performance in the right situation. However most of the general population require little carbohydrates and definitely not recommended. — A lot of diet and calorie focussed folks seen to have forgotten about how food is created. Whatever ‘diet’ you follow it literally starts with photosynthesis with the excitation of chlorophyll. Whether that’s a carnivore eating a cow, they consume grass or if your a vegetarian eating plants galore. — There’s no right or wrong. Any one and everyone can eat as they please. But I think what is wrong is that the education and message is that nutrition and more importantly lifestyle is not important or might no help and support the way we think, live, breathe and reproduce. — So when someone mocks riced cauliflower saying it’s repulsive. Wonder if they even know how we transfer food into energy in the body. Or how food is created and it’s not from Uber eats, Deliveroo or what is on your supermarket shelf. — Share and tag with any other “weirdos” who empower themselves with the choices they make and not what is told. Get the recipe: ⁣ Serves 1-2⁣ Ingredients:⁣ - 1 red onion, finely diced⁣ - 2 cloves garlic, minced OR 2tsp garlic granules ⁣ - 300g mushrooms, sliced - 1tsp dried parsley/2tbsp fresh chopped parsley ⁣ - 1tsp smoked paprika⁣ - 120ml vegetable stock⁣ - 1/4 tsp yeast extract (marmite) OR 1tsp soy sauce⁣ - 4tbsp no added sugar plain dairy free yoghurt⁣ - cracked black pepper, to taste⁣ ⁣ Method:⁣ 1. Sauté the onion in a pan using a little water on a medium/high heat setting until soft and see through.⁣ ⁣ 2. Add in the mushrooms & garlic (add more water if needed) and cook for 6 mins until the mushrooms are almost soft. ⁣ ⁣ 3. Add in the parsley, & smoked paprika cook for another 1 min until fragrant.⁣ ⁣ 4. Pour in the vegetable stock and let it simmer on a low heat setting for about 5mins or until it thickens. ⁣ ⁣ 5. Take the pan off the heat then stir in the yoghurt until creamy, season with pepper and garnish with chopped parsley. ⁣ ⁣ 6. Serve with mashed potato, pasta, rice or quinoa! PEACH BAKED OATMEAL 🍑🍑 . 📝 INGREDIENTS * 2 cups old fashioned rolled oats * 2 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk * 1 teaspoon cinnamon * 1 teaspoon vanilla * 1/2 teaspoon almond extract * 2 cups ripe peaches, divided (1 cup chopped and 1 cup sliced)* * 1/4 cup maple syrup * 2 Tablespoons melted coconut oil or butter (optional) * pinch of sea salt . 👨‍🍳 INSTRUCTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 375°F. 2. Measure out 1 cup of chopped peaches and 1 cup of sliced peaches. 3. Add oats, almond milk, cinnamon, vanilla, almond extract, 1 cup chopped peaches, maple syrup, coconut oil and sea salt in a large bowl. 4.
