I crave your mouth, your voice, your hair. Silent and starving, I prowl through the streets. Bread does not nourish me, dawn disrupts me, all day I hunt for the liquid measure of your steps. I hunger for your sleek laugh, your hands the color of a savage harvest, hunger for the pale stones of your fingernails, I want to eat your skin like a whole almond. . I want to eat the sunbeam flaring in your lovely body, the sovereign nose of your arrogant face, I want to eat the fleeting shade of your lashes, . and I pace around hungry, sniffing the twilight, hunting for you, for your hot heart, like a puma in the barrens of Quitratue. . Starting to gain some momentum with work, but it's still so hard to focus on my wedding edits from February. #feelingguilty. But I will slowly move forward. I hope you are all doing well out there, staying strong. I am genuinely as positive as I can be on the inside...I am so grateful for sharing this experience with my partner. We have helped each other along the way. I keep on telling her that if this doesn't affect us directly, that we will move forward and be even stronger than before. We will have a great appreciation for everything we took for granted before. Life will actually be better. Or at least that's what I tell myself as well hahah. How are all my single friends? I can't imagine how much different this experience would have been if I was alone. . . . . #montrealbride #montrealwedding #quebecweddingphotography #montrealweddingphotography #jatobawedding #montrealphotographer
Paris 2010. Stacey and Paul hired me to photograph their elopement. I hung out with them the entire week, and I really really liked it. Like...I really loved every second of shooting a destination wedding. Looooooooooved it. So fast forward 10 years, hundreds of weddings later, numerous destinations, many camera bodies and lenses bought and sold...bought and sold. Countless moments of agony going through images. Incredible memories with couples and families across the globe. The autumn and early winters where I would feel the steady burn of the season winding down. Usually editing through Christmas day in order to get images to couples during the holidays. Burning out ...2...maybe 3 times. Times where, I will admit, I thought about changing professions. But gosh darn. I would do anything to burn out this fall from weddings. Optimism flows through my body even in the face of great uncertainty. All I know is that no matter what happens, I will be around for a long time to come. My business grew out of the financial crisis. So this is just a pause. A moment to recollect my thoughts, to realize all the stuff I was taking for granted. Sending you all a lot of love. We are gonna kick some ass in the next few years. . . To my lovely February couples (I will be writing you privately as well, but I just need to make this proclamation for other photographers who feel bad for not being productive during this unprecedented time). I have finally started to work on your images. I am so sorry for any delays in getting you the final product. Who would have thought so much extra time would paralyze my productivity? I basically entered survival mode for my financials. Set everything up so I could ride this out no matter how long it will take...ok..maybe not like 3 years. Anyways, it wasn't just because I was dealing with financials that I couldn't work. I also sat around a lot...watched a lot of cheesy reality shows. I cooked. I just couldn't bring myself to look at the images, because..well...I have no explanation. Something in my psyche just wouldn't let me. But now I begin! . . #destinationwedding #montrealweddingphotographer #pariselopement #pariswedding #justmarriedparis
If you go to my stories, you will see what my thoughts are about the current situation and staying inside as much as possible. . This shoot was 2 days before things in Quebec escalated. When we were first asked to stay inside as much as possible. Oh how I miss shooting. But my understanding is that the only time people should be going out is for necessary travel and walks and exercise (and still keeping this to a minimum, while being extremely cautious). So I am choosing to stay home as much as possible. I have chosen not to participate in shooting families on their porches or outside of their homes during this period. Even if I were to do it with extreme care and caution while respecting social distancing practices. Because in essence, these shoots would be creating an unnecessary reason for me to leave the house. . Why am I so adamant about this? Because Dom, here in the picture, delivered her baby in the midst of all of this. We are staying home not just for people to not get the disease. We are also staying home so that people like Dom who are pregnant, people who have cancer, people who need hospital care regularly...so that they can still get the best care possible. They will all be affected by this if we don't do our part. And we have it easy compared to our health care workers and other essential workers who don't have the option of staying home. All we have to do is take it easy for once in our lives in order to be heroic. So that is exactly what I am doing. . So please, try to think extra hard about the consequences of all your actions during this time. I am choosing the side that may be over cautious, but it helps me sleep just a little better at night. . Peace and love, . Trying to enjoy the more important things as we take time off. It's a scary time for many business owners, service industry workers, freelancers, artists, singers, the self-employed, 9to5 workers with children grappling with the consequence of school closures...the list goes on and on. Everybody is going through their own version of what this virus means to them. I don't think there is a single person that is not being affected by this at the moment. So let's try to judge a little bit less. Understand that every action we see is somebody coping. Somebody trying to provide the best for their family in these tough situations. I'm going to try and have even more compassion moving forward. People are forced to make big decisions as the news is coming in on an hourly basis. Hopefully all of these sacrifices will help society ease the brunt of the blow. And once this is over we will come out on the other side stronger and more united. I can't wait to share when Alessandra's dad saw her in her wedding dress for the first time earlier in the day. He had to take a moment to look out the window, trying to hold back tears. This was Alessandra's dress for dancing. After this you could tell he was fighting back those tears again. . .you know what...check my stories..I'll post the photos from when he walked into the hotel room earlier that day! . . @atwaterclubvenue . One day I will shoot an entire wedding for black and white. . . . . #montrealweddingphotographer #fatherdaughterdance #fatherdaughterlove #instawedding #canadianbride #canadianweddings #mariagequebec #blacktiewedding #classywedding #blackandwhitephotography #blackandwhitewedding
How long do your post travel blues last for after getting back from an exotic land? . . Da Ni and I had a lot of fun in Ubud, Bali. Our second time there. We experienced such a different side of what Ubud has to offer by staying in a completely different area than last time. Take me back!!! . . . #travelingphotographer #balitravel #ubudsunset #ubudridgewalk #montrealmodel #canadianweddingphotographer #destinationweddingphotographer #silhouette #instatravel
Jessica got an airbnb right on Rue St. Sulpice for her wedding at the Notre Dame. That way she could walk right over before the ceremony. It was her idea to have a winter wedding. Her idea to have stars at her reception which was at the Theatre St. James... (will show you later what that looked like..incredibly put together by @taniatassone and her badass team). It was also Jessica's idea to go out on the fire escape...we had to squeeze through the windows...luckily my butt didn't grow too much on vacation. Can't wait to show more from this winter wedding. And thanks to Jessica for making me squeeze through that window. I never thought I would make it. And thanks to the wind for creating a #marylinmonroe moment . .
