Bad news: the bean thing was closed. Good news: we were the only people here. This trip was full of actual bad news but we continue to find the good. I may have had a full mental breakdown when I got pulled over for talking on my phone (fun fact: Minnesota is a hands free state) but overall we have grown closer as a family and built up our ability to be resilient. I firmly believe everything that happens to us teaches us something and I know in a week or a month or whenever I’ll find the lesson I’ve learned and the tools I’ve gained ✨ {alt text} Brenna smiling and standing next to the barricade of the the Chicago bean or cloud gate, Whatever it’s called.

Hi. You know what’s cool? My disability doesn’t limit me. You know what’s not cool? The lack of accessibility does. I’m currently at a hotel with no elevator or bottom floor rooms available. I can’t help but think about how fortunate I am to have a mobility device that allows me to go upstairs, but I am an exception not the rule. So many people would have to find somewhere else to go, but here’s the fun part... This was the only room available in the area. I checked. It blows my mind places like this exist. My point is to just raise awareness that these issues still happen. Disabled people live in a world not made for them and that is what creates disability. If you’re creating a business I encourage you to think about those of us with disabilities in your planning. What things can you do to make sure your business is accessible to all. Proper floor plans that wheelchairs can move through, ramps, clear side walls, a ramp, elevator, or any creative means you think of for disabled people to get to where they need to go. This isn’t the first time this has happened but I’m hoping together we can get closer and closer to this being the last time this happens. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk 🤪

As a #DovePartner, I want to raise awareness about the issue of racial hair discrimination, and how we can come together to put an end to it. Did you know, Black women are 1.5 times more likely to be sent home from the workplace because of their hair? Additionally, Black women's hair is 3.4 times more likely to be perceived as unprofessional. NO WOMAN SHOULD EVER BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF HER HAIR. These statistics and stories were shocking to me and I could not sit here and be silent while this exists in our world. I am proud to join @Dove and the #CROWNCoalition as they continue to work to pass @thecrownact, a law that makes racial hair discrimination illegal in the workplace and public schools. I encourage you to spread the word, share, and sign the petition urging legislators to make race-based hair discrimination illegal. So far, the CROWN Act has only been passed in 7/50 states. Head to my story to sign the petition to help @dove #PassTheCROWN in your state. It’s as simple as a swiping up! Image credit to @thecrownact

Friday afternoon we started our move to Maine. Friday night we started our drive only to be stuck 2.5 hours away from our starting point because our trailer caught on fire, but not before our garbage flew off my car twice (I cleaned it up, dont worry), a fishtailing trailer, and 2 flat tires. We’ve been hanging out in the middle of nowhere trying to get back on the road. Finally today we bought all the parts to get the trailer fixed, but as I was getting the girls ready to go to the park the little one decided to yeet herself off the bed head first onto the hard floor. Today is Monday and we are hanging out in the hospital making sure she’s healthy. You know what they say... when it rains in pours. For the first time in the middle of absolute chaos and uncertainty I’ve been 100% at peace that everything is going to be okay. Maybe it’s the self care and meditation I’ve been doing or maybe it’s the medication🤪 or maybe a mix of both. We would absolutely welcome any prayers or good vibes you can send our way so we can get back on the road safely 🥰 also if you’re bored check out my sassy, sarcastic, and informative TikTok 🤪

#DovePartner Today is International Day of the Girl, a day where we celebrate what makes girls totally and fully amazing. I’m proud to celebrate with @Dove and @BGCA_Clubs, because now more than ever, it is so crucial to remind the girls in your life of their worth beyond their body. This picture was taken of me when I was 14. I was about to undergo my amputation and was extremely nervous about what my new life would look like. I was scared losing my leg would put an end to ever being beautiful. The best advice I received back then was my inner being was what made me beautiful. What makes me beautiful is my smile, my joy, and my passion. I to this day remind myself that my worth and beauty is far beyond what my outer body looks like. Did you know, 45% of Gen Z express they feel more anxious about their body than career prospects or money? Additionally appearance is the top rated anxiety for Gen Z. Something needs to change and we can all be apart of the solution. Check out #DoveSelfEsteemProject free tools and resources at dove.com/selfesteem and share with a girl in your life 3 things that make them beautiful beyond their outward appearance. I know 14 year old me loved to hear that. Another super easy thing you can do to support young girls is by donating to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. As part of their long term partnership, @Dove has teamed up with @BGCA_Clubs to empower girls even more. Every donation you give, Dove has committed $250,000 to increase your impact now until October 14. Check out the link to donate in my stories. What are you waiting for? Let’s change some lives 🧡 #GreatFuturesForHer #InternationalDayoftheGirl [alt text] Brenna bald in a pink cap about to have her amputation. It’s the first day of my favorite month 🧡 oh how fast & slow 2020 is going 😳 while it may not have been the best year yet and we may not have been walking around with 20/20 vision like we planned for, we can still be thankful for the little things. Today I’m thankful for waking up, because that means I still have more good to give this world. ✨ whats one thing you’re grateful for today? ✨

If you haven’t worn your pants like this, are you even living? Just a friendly reminder that what you see online doesn’t always equate to real life. If I were to take an “Instagram worthy” shot I would’ve put my pants on my hips and posed cute, but this is how I actually wear these pants because it’s comfy AF 😹 so I wanted to show you my real life. It’s all fun here 🥰

This is your friendly reminder to wear the dang outfit. Put the jeans on (my most insecurity inducing clothing item) or that outfit that shows off all your curves, because life’s too short to not do the things that make you feel GOOD. Also these flowers are perfection ❤️
