Ever followed the body measurement chart on the back of a pattern envelope just to realize the finished garment’s size was nothing like you had hoped? 🤦🏼‍♂️ Yeah, we’ve all been there! That’s why I follow these three steps every time I begin a new project! Each time your choice will be more and more informed and based less on guesswork. Hope this helps! How do you choose which pattern size to make? Leave a comment and let me know! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

The little cowl that could...barely fit over my head. I had planned for it to drape fashionably around my neck but instead it’s more like a stylish neck brace. 😆 That’s what happens when you don’t swatch and you realize later that your colorwork doesn’t stretch or block near as much as normal knitting. Perfect for an Arctic winter ❄️, but not so perfect for Florida. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’m thinking maybe I rip it out and use the yarn again, but it’s kind of painful to think of ripping out all of this beautiful work. Question: FALL or SPRING?...which do you like sewing for more? (I will also accept Winter or Summer, if you must 🙄😜) Anybody else feeling surprisingly creative lately? This is definitely my favorite time of year and my most creative. 🎃 (Umm, hello fall trends! I’ve been waiting for you!) My brain is stirring with ideas and my to-do list is getting longer and longer. Pants • #V8988 @mccallpatterncompany

You deserve to show the world how truly great you are! ...you also deserve to do it in your own time and comfort. Happy #nationalcomingoutday! 🌈 ❤️ Shirt • #V8800 #voguepatterns @mccallpatterncompany⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Shorts • self drafted⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fabric • rainbow striped linen from @joann_stores

If you’re looking for me, I’ll be all wrapped up in my new #memade pjs made in the softest fabric ever! I used a new line of prints by @marketastengl for @fabricmerchants on their Double Brushed Jersey from @fabricdotcom.

Bought it for my bed, used it for a shirt! Scarlett may have used velvet drapes, but I used an @ikeausa duvet cover! 🤣 Throwing it way back to share this old make. The details are foggy and I don’t even remember the exact pattern, but I do remember that I lengthened the body, reshaped the hem, and drafted a cut on sleeve. I still LOVE the graphic print, but it’s a little more snug now than it used to be...how did that happen?! 🤷🏼‍♂️😆 I’m thinking of adding a strip of fabric down each side seam to increase the circumference. (🤔💭 Wonder if I should use solid black or the same print for the added panels?) Also, I already have a matching pair of pants cut out and ready to sew! Where’s the craziest place you’ve sourced fabric for a project?

When you love a pattern so much and you wonder “how many is too many⁉️” Would making 4 versions of this same pattern be excessive⁉️ (because they are all planned in my head already) 🤣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Are you a pattern repeater?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #MeMade Details:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Jacket • #ilfordjacket by @fridaypatterncompany Fabric from @minervadotcom.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Shirt • #V8759 by @mccallpatterncompany⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fabric from @stylemakerfabrics.

❌ brad wuz here Talk about nostalgic! This tag takes me back to my middle and high school years when we wrote this phrase everywhere. 🤦🏼‍♂️😆 Fast forward 20 years, now I get to ‘write’ it in my clothes with a new title, #maker! A more sophisticated version don’t ya think? haha *Side note: I added a back neck facing and finished it all with a bias binding. Interested in a tutorial? Lmk! You know it’s a good day when it’s cool enough to pull this baby out! I made this denim jacket years ago and I still wait for the day each fall when I can pull it out of my closet. Even though I love fun and flashy, I’ve noticed that my true favorite me-mades are often the stand by, go with everything, classics. If you had to pick your one favorite you-made...what would it be?? Lmk in the comments! Jacket • @kwiksew 460 Denim from @joann_stores

I need your advice! I’ve been thinking a lot lately about starting a blog. Ok...ok...I hear you, it’s 2020 and blogs seem like old news, BUT...I love making, sharing, and writing. Starting a blog just seems like the perfect next step. So, help me out and lmk in the comments! ⬇️ What do you think❓⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you still read blogs❓⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Who are your favorite bloggers/blogs (it doesn’t have to be sewing related)❓

Howdy 👋 I’m Brad! 🍎 I’m a first grade teacher by day, sewist by night; creating a wardrobe I love and teaching others to do the same. 💭Deep down I’m a HUGE nerd who loves coffee, learning how things work, herbal medicine, and shoes! If time allowed I’d make everything-I mean everything-from scratch. 🙅‍♂️ Need your pants hemmed? Don’t come to me! I HATE sewing alterations...including hemming pants. I’d rather sew a garment from scratch than alter existing clothing. 🤷🏼‍♂️I have decision paralysis..and let me tell you, right now the struggle is real! @sherylcrow was right, “the first cut IS the deepest” and I must find the PERFECT project for every piece of fabric I have...sometimes it takes me a while. Note to self: there’s always more fabric, just go for it! 🧵 I mostly sew with woven fabrics but my love for comfy knits and stretch have taken on a new life...thanks quarantine! ❤️ I LOVE recreating outfits I find online/instagram/pinterest using what I already have in my closet...or using it as the inspiration for a new make. #pinspired Most days you can find me with messy hair and comfy clothes teaching kids that trying, failing, and trying again pays off...unless it’s summer, then I’m probably sleeping...or sewing. So happy you’re here! 💙 Do we have anything in common⁉️ Let me know I’m the comments ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Jeans • #QuadraJeans by @threadtheorydesigns Denim from @fabricdotcom. 📸 • @jennyephoto

Can we just talk about how stressful the beginning of the school year has been?! My body is exhausted but my brain is still craving creativity. Knitting is always my stand by - sit on the couch and veg - sort of craft. The repetitive motion eases the mind and helps my frazzled brain relax...at least somewhat. 🥴 AND, we did get a couple cooler days this week! 🍂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The #PatikiCowl by @arohaknits and #FrancoiseDanoy is the first stranded colorwork project I’ve knit in years. Tbh I’ve never actually completed a stranded colorwork project until now, I just dabbled in the past...you know - those crazy college years! 😆🤷🏼‍♂️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I tried to channel a bit of a 70s vibe with these yellowy neutrals and chocolate brown. The mix of color is exactly what I wanted! I used #SweetSparrowYarns (@sweetsparrowknits) ‘Racine Belles’ colorway (which I’m obsessed with) and the oh so luxurious @reywafibers ‘Dancing Yak.’ If only you could feel this!
