Happy Birthday @rebeccalorobertson 🥳🥰I couldn’t possibly imagine our family without you in it. No doubt God dreamed this up to make life extra-sweet!! You bring laughter and creativity, fun and joy. You are fearless and strong and seriously the most amazing mother! So fun to watch you love @babyzaneloflin so well. He absolutely adores you and so do we! I couldn’t be more thankful to get to be your mom and your friend 😘
I remember a time when @legitsadierob was probably five or six (I’m pretty sure I had a baby, Will or Bella, on my hip). We were at a waterpark and Sadie was doing those rope monkey bars across the water. I was watching her struggle and feeling for her, those things are hard, and I yelled, “it’s okay if you have to drop.” I think I said this because I worried that if she fell she’d be embarrassed or feel bad about herself (she was pretty competitive even at a young age) but as soon as I said it someone said to me, “don’t tell her that, tell her she can do it.” I have no idea who said this, I can’t even visually who it was, but I remember the words clearly and it stopped me in my tracks. I quickly changed my tune and I started shouting, “you’ve got this girlie, you can do it, keep going!” She went a few more times hand over hand and fell into the water about 3/4 of the way across. I ran around to the other side of the pool as she climbed out. Told her how proud I was of her that she had given it her all even though she didn’t make it all the way across. Told her that she’ll get stronger and if she works hard and keeps trying that one day she’ll make it. This moment taught me something that shaped me as a mother. It taught me the importance of letting our kids fail. Sometimes you’ll give it all you’ve got and make it across and sometimes you won’t, but you’re always better for trying. This is not easy as a mom to do. We have this instinct to protect our children from embarrassment or hurt feelings or whatever comes with trying something you don’t succeed at, but we all know the way to growing, the way to learning anything is through falling and getting back up. One of my favorite sayings is “If you try and fail, you’re not a failure, you’re a risk-taker.” I love that our kiddos are risk-takers! P.s. I love talking about parenting, and got to be a part of a great conference “Perfectly Imperfect Parenting” on Oct 23-24th the link is in my bio. Would love for you to join!! Let’s talk more!
One year with this cutie has been an absolute dream! Happy Birthday, Sheppie 🎉 I adore how you go all in with each new adventure! You’re a little world changer and I love being your Kmama. Watching you learn, explore and grow is my favorite 🤗
Obviously feeling a little sentimental looking through all the baby books, because our firstborn is 25 today, but look at this picture y’all 😭😍#bestdayever
The one who made me a mom is 25!!! Happy Birthday @johnluke_robertson raising you has never been boring, I actually don’t think that word is in your vocabulary. You’re just the perfect kind of weird to always keep life fun and interesting, which I adore! I love talking to you about all of the random things we’re reading, learning, questioning and dreaming about. I love your sense of humor, your zest for life, your love of books, good stories and every single person that crosses your path. I love your unquenchable thirst for knowing God and becoming who He created you to be. You are an amazing dad and the kindest of husbands, an awesome friend and a generous leader. I’ve loved this quarter of a century as your mom, and your friend! Can’t wait to see what the next quarter century brings! Happy Birthday 🎉
@bellarobb brought a disposable camera on our vacation a while back and I had forgotten how much fun it is to get the pictures back and be surprised at what was captured. Some were beautiful like these, some were complete blurry fails. We kept the treasures and let go of the rest. Pretty sure there’s a lesson in that too. Thinking about how we seem to know everything these days within a matter of seconds. We edit or delete with the touch of a finger. Maybe there’s something that has been lost in the not knowing, the wait and the wonder. She came over the other day to show me that she had bought a small film camera because she loved these pictures so much. I was laughing as she explained, “it’s kind of like a disposable except you don’t throw the camera away, you just take this little thing of film out of the camera and turn it in, then you put a new one in this spot.” I smiled and called Willie in to let her explain to him the wonders of a film camera 😊
Throwback pic because I was talking to our adult kids last night about parenting and laughing so hard about the phrases that they said were curse words growing up 😂Besides the forbidden “s” words “shut up” and “stupid” These were the phrases that were immediately regretted in our house as soon as they came out of their mouths: “You/he/she made me” This would be most definitely get you a speech about how unless someone is holding a gun to your head nobody can “make” you do anything, you are responsible for your own actions and reactions 💪🏼 “I hate him/her” *starts quoting scriptures about “if you can’t love your brother who you have seen, how can you love God who you cant see” “love your enemy...” ❤️ “I never” “You never” as in “I never get to buy anything” “You never let me play video games” Really never? Do you want to know what it’s like to never...🤔 And the worst curse word of them all “bored” as in “I’m bored” said by the child that has a room full of toys and books and a big backyard “Oh really, I’ll be happy to find something for you to do” *Child immediately decides he does have something to do after all, runs outside and isn’t seen again till dark 🤷🏼♀️ Would love to hear the curse words/forbidden phrases in your house, ha!!
Still can’t believe SHE’S HAVING A BABY 🥰 literally nothing better!
Big, crazy, awesome news!! My baby is having a baby 🤗🎊🙌🏻🎉@legitsadierob and @christian_huff y’all are going to be the most amazing, fun, joyful parents. Baby Huff we adore you already, we promise to love you forever and always! Welcome to the fam little one! I’m going to love being your Kmama 🥰
“But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Luke 18:16-17 I’ve told my kids their whole life to “jump in with both feet!” and I couldn’t love these videos with my grands more! Child-like faith is one that jumps with the confidence that the one who loves you totally and completely is there to catch you. Child-like faith holds onto the hands of the one who loves you and take wide, leg-all-the-way-out steps forward! Thinking about this with all the uncertainty in the world right now, let’s keep stepping forward with that child-like faith and not forget Who’s got this! Prayers for healing for the President, First Lady and everyone suffering with Covid right now! 🙏🏻
I know people have strong opinions about the upcoming election so mostly keeping mine to myself and to those I know and love. Trust me, my family is getting an earful, ha! However, I spent a whole day being quiet on here after the debate, and I’ve decided I do want to say this: I just don’t think we should let the people who are asking for our votes for the highest office in the country get a pass on what happened the other night. Our family watched the entire thing and when it ended, there was total silence in the room for a few minutes. I think we all felt a little depressed, deflated, and the worst d word of them all...disappointed. No matter what has happened in the past, I think we’re always hopeful that our leaders will do better next time, act kinder, more respectful, more unifying, be inspiring. We expect that when leaders address the entire country that even when they are talking about really hard things that they will offer us some hope for a better tomorrow. So just coming on here to say I think on behalf of all of us: Please do better next time.
My man went out west, walked 132 miles through mountains and valleys, in the heat and snow, sun up to sun down...and brought home dinner! @realwilliebosshog your fried elk stacked with mushrooms, onions and apples, with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy is officially my favorite meal! Thank you for taking such good care of us😋😉 You’re the cutest hunter I know!! I love you forever and always!
