I decided to step out of my room today🏃🏻‍♀️

Growing up everybody always used to mess with me because I looked so sad. But I didn’t realize how sad I looked until i saw the photos they took of me. Depression is a constant war i’ve been fighting. some days i’ll win...most days i’ll lose. depression for me has come from things i’m just not ready to share with you all yet. But i wanted to share this photo because it motivates me. i was 50 pounds heavier and at my absolute lowest. this photo was taken on my graduation day. it’s really important to me because it’s also the day I decided to force myself to make changes and do big things with my life. it was the day i decided to join the military. The navy was the first time i ever felt like i really had a family. it was the first time i ever felt love and support. friends would wake me up for therapy appointments that I would always sleep through. or they would push me to keep going when I would cry my eyes out trying to carry machine guns up the ship steps that weighed as much as me. I wanted to share this story with you because I want you guys to know you make me feel the same love and support I felt from friends in the navy. I am the type of person who needs the right people around me to help me and keep pushing me through tough times. And when I was no longer in the Navy, I felt alone and hopeless again...so thank you for showing up and being there for me. You don’t know how much it means to me to have you here. I want you to know that I’m right here for you the same way that you’ve been there for me. So thank you to every single one of you for being a part of my family, a part of my herd. Thank you for helping me in ways you can’t imagine. Now let’s all do big things together. This is just the start.
