Yesterday we got the news that our country is going partially in lockdown again. Amsterdam has been a red flag for quite some weeks now, but as there were no strict rules, everyone just continued their life quite normal again which I believe led to this insane number of cases (also because more people are testing ofcourse). The government hoped that without these (not restricted) rules, people would take their responsibility to keep distance, wear face masks etc but it did not happen. And now people around me are infected. Some with a small fever, others are ill for weeks. Its getting crazy if you compare it to March but the mentality of people around me is completely different. Everyone is just tired and done with it and trying to see how the rules can be stretched. Even I did it too! Especially as winter is coming, I am convinced its going to be super challenging (in Holland its cold, rainy and dark). However, I truly hope that everyone can go back to the mentally of March. We need to look after those with a bad health and the elderly. And think of all those people who cant get an operation because covid people are allowed first. My attitude is that this is not about me, but about everyone around me. And I hope everyone around me too. Sending everyone hips of motivation to beat this thing ๐Ÿ’ช Take care everyone ๐Ÿ’›

Tips for Pugliaโ  ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น โ  Although I was only there for a split second (at least that is how it felt like), I do want to share a few of my Puglia tips with you. โ  โ  Tip 1. September is a great month to travel to this area. It was not super busy so you can visit all the touristic highlights if you want. Weather was fantastic, not too hot. โ  Tip 2. Avoid super fancy restaurants and try to eat local. Twice we went for a more fancy place, but we had the best dinners at small restaurants with local food. I would always look for organic restaurants on blogs to find the best spots. โ  Tip 3. Eat the fruits. As you might have seen, I have been obsessed with Puglias figs. Very next level if you are used to figs in the Netherlands. โ  Tip 3. Places to visit: Matera (ruin city, just outside of Matera), Ostuni, Polignano a Mare, Alberobello, Martina Franca, Locorotondo. I also heard multiple people about Lecce but unfortunately there was too little time. โ  Tip 4. Try to stay outside of cities and look for places on the countryside (like this place @ottolire resort where we stayed our last two days ๐Ÿ˜ฑ). These places often come with a lot of nature and the rooms are often unique and spacious too. โ  โ  Any questions or do you have tips yourself? Please share them below! โ  . . . . #italy #puglia #traveldestination #sunsetdestinations #sunset #ecolife #ecotraveler #wanderlust #adventureseeker #goexplore #bestviewitaly #igitaly #italyig #topitaly #italytravel #italyiloveyou #italy_vacations #italy_hidden_gems #italy_ig #italy_photolovers #italylovers #alberello

Goodmorning! Hope you all had a good weekend. This morning I am sharing my change towards a more conscious and sustainable lifestyle and what this has brought me so far. If this is not your subject, feel free to swipe away as its quite a story ๐Ÿ˜… Anyway I am starting off by telling that choosing this direction in life doesnt come easy all the time. In the back of my head there is always this little voice saying: no one cares for this planet, live your life, you cant change the world. It still happens, even today. But then I realise that for all those years when I did just live my life without thinking about the planet or people around me, my life was not per se any better. Actually it was kinda worse. My focus was only about fulfilling my ego to get more. At one point my ego was so high up my ass that for example I did not wanted to travel with the train anymore as this was not my style ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ. After some time it truly started to annoy me that on a Monday I would start my empty job again and my weekend was based on doing nothing impactful. The shifting point for me came when I started to work on my key values. What are my key values in life and what changes do I need to make to start living them? One of these key values is to live on this planet and threat it with respect. Still I could do many things better, but having this value and trying to live by it as much as I can, gives me so much more in life. Did you ever wrote down your key values in life? If yes, what did it bring you? If not, I can truly recommend you to take a moment and to think about them. It could have quite some impact...Nowadays most of my sustainable / conscious actions have turned into my habits, still some (the difficult ones) are a work in process, but it makes life so much more interestinf, at least for me. Wishing you a good Monday ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ . . . . . Outfit: Jumpsuit: green collection ofย @selected_official . Made of organic cotton Turtle top: second hand Sunglasses: gifted

A few of my favorite sustainable travel essentials that I always bring on a trip. Sunscreen (I use squalan which doesnt harm the corals) Bags (small & big cotton & linnen ones to carry my stuff but also to carry fruits or other foods) Sunglasses (either from a sustainable brand or vintage) Waterbottles. In Italy you can drink tapwater, so perfect to bring your bottle. Although for me its really common to bring my water bottle everywhere (swipe to the right for proof), the amount of plastic bottles being consumed it pretty immense. In countries like the Netherlands or Italy were I spend my last holiday, I feel its totally unnecessary to pay for a single used plastic bottle filled with water when tap water is free. Can you guess how many plastic bottles are being sold every minute? Well its a million.ย ย And wayyy too many end up in our beautiful nature. Therefore, I support companies that are willing to make a change like the bottle company @saywhatbottles. A small company with big aspirations to make the world a better place.ย ย What is a huge plus about these bottles is that they are not only very good on the eye, they can also keep your drinks 24 hour cold or warm for 12 hours. Also they have bottles for toddlers and a wineset (ideal for the beach to keep your wine cool). So in case you are still looking for a nice bottle or you need a new one, go and check them out ๐Ÿ’™

Yeap I am posting about THE touristic place in Puglia: Alberobello. The reason for this being a special place, is that the entire village has over 1500 trullis which are found only in the region of Puglia. These conical houses have long been used for housing, storage and shelter by the local people. While the first records of trulli being built in Puglia date from around the 14th century, their golden age was the 19th century, prompted by the development of vine growing. In case you did not hear about it, save it to the list. You do not need to stay here, but a visit for a few hours it definitely worth it. ๐Ÿ’› . . . . . . In my highlights I did not share my eco travel tips which I normally do when traveling. Last weekend it was World Cleanup Day and it really pushed me to talk about this matter again. To be really honest, I was pretty shocked to see the amounts of single used plastics used in Italy on a daily basis. It's so much more than in the Netherlands. Straws, bags, cups, cutlery, plastic coverings etc. And at certain moments when I was not alert, I would be surrounded by those single use bastards myself (annoyed as hell ofcourse). As I am already someone who is quite conscious about it, I still need to get better at it. It made me realise how much single used plastic is still being used by people who just don't care. Yesterday I looked up the current statistics again: *8 million pieces of plastic make their way into our ocean DAILY. *EACH baby turtle has plastic in his stomach *50% is single used plastics *This year the number of plastics in the sea will be HIGHER than the number of fish * 1 out of 3 fish for human consumption contains plastic By using simple alternatives, like a reusable waterbottle/cups, bags, silicon cases, bamboo straws (or asking specifically to not put a straw in the drink), we can really a difference. My eco travel tip for Italy is then bring your own. By sharing this, its also for me again a reminder to really work on eliminating it as much as I can. Have a good Monday everyone ๐Ÿ’™

What a trip it has been so far.๐Ÿค— As our previous trip got cancelled due to Martijns accident, he decided to organise a surprise trip to make up for it. Until we got to the medical check at the airport, I did not know where we were going. The destination was Bari, Italy, which we already booked in April but was canceled due to corona. Our first stop was Matera, a beautiful old ruin city.ย  We stayed in a cave which was transformed to this insane apartment (you can check my highlight to see it again if you have not seen it). In the evening we had dinner at this place (this photo was taken during the daylight, swipe to the right to see the night shot). And out of the blue, Martijn proposed to me! Such a movie moment.๐Ÿฅฐ He actually planned the whole proposal in Switzerland already but because he got the accident, he had to start all over again. The poor guy! ๐Ÿ™ˆ And especially as he always told me that he did not wanted to get married, it was a completely shock. But a good one, I have been smiling ever sinceย ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

Throwback to a beautiful trip in Greece last year with @ross_holidays ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ท. And tomorrowmorning I am leaving for a surprise trip! After our last trip got canceled, Martijn booked this trip for us. How freaking sweet is that ๐Ÿฅฐ No idea where we are going but I am guessing Italy or Portugal ๐Ÿ‘€ he is still recovering but he is very convinced that he is ready for this trip. ๐Ÿ™ˆ Cant wait to share the destination with you all. Have a great day ๐Ÿ’™

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Currently, we are working on such a special healthcare project with @reliving.nl. I will share more about this once its done but currently we have been busy decorating three apartments. It has been taken a lot of time as it has been pretty last minute. All three apartments have their own style but all have in common thatโ€™s the design is completely sustainable. By combining our Reliving second hand furniture and working closely with some cool sustainable interior brands, we hope to show that you can create any interior style in a sustainable way. I have turned into the assistent of our interior designer, and I am loving it. I am learning so much at the moment. Also finding new inspiration at places like this one (a beachclub in Bloemendaal). Who knows, perhaps this could be a way to make the interior design market a bit more sustainableโ€ฆ Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Yesterday my mom send me the following quote: 'When you are 20 you care what everyone thinks When you are 40 you stop caring what everyone thinks When you are 60 you realize that no one was ever thinking about you in the first place' How spot on is this? Never think if you want to change towards a conscious/green lifestyle its going to be boring, dull and less fun. You can still wear glamorous dresses, vintage designer sunglasses and lay as a diva in the grass (obviously to feel more connected to Mother Earth ๐Ÿคฃ๐ŸŒ) when you visit the mountains. . . . Dress from one of my favorite vintage shops in Amsterdam @kilostore_amsterdam & the best sandals made from natural and recycled materials from @indosole (wore them this summer non stop ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ) . . . #ecolife #ecotraveler #wanderlust #adventureseeker #goexplore #zerowaste #zerowastecooking #thrifted #secondhand #consciousmind #consciousfashion #positivevibes #letsconnect #consciouslifestyle #duurzaam
