Dreamy spaces ✨ I wanted to share a short meditation with you today as I had a lot of requests for this the other day when I asked what you’d like to see more of on my page. I will be recording some breathing exercises and guided meditations for you to listen to, but for now here is a quick and easy one you can do that takes just a few minutes: I call this one - Internal Sunshine. ☺️☀️ Find a quiet space. Sit up or lie down with your spine straight. Close your eyes and breathe deeply, letting go of the worries of the world and relaxing more and more with every exhale. Visualize a bright healing light over your head as you pull it down towards you, creating a blanket of warm light all over your body. Your skin begins to absorb this warm golden light, circulating through your bloodstream, healing your body and filling you up with happiness. Take a moment to bathe in this feeling before bringing your awareness back to the room. Carry this feeling with you throughout the day. - Namaste 🙏🏼
It’s been a very productive week for me. I’ve been working on launching not one but TWO brands, both of which I have been working on for a while now. I’m very excited to share them with you soon! And at this very moment, I’m looking forward to the weekend to relax a little. What is everyone up to this weekend? I hope you remember to take some time to yourself and be in the moment ✌🏼
Hey guys, I’m back after a long break from posting here. I’ve decided I’m going to start sharing my recipes in Reels, mostly healthy but also desserts because part of living a healthy lifestyle is allowing yourself to treat yourself every once in a while. Although it’s not peach season I had a request to make my Peach Cobbler last weekend so I decided to film it and share it with you all! Check out my reels for this simple and delicious recipe that everyone will love! 🍑
Love this inspirational space @piotrparadowskistudio 🤍🤎
It’s proven that just viewing an image of a beach or listening to the sound of the ocean can calm the mind, relieve stress & have healing effects. So here is one of my favourite images that does that for me. I hope it can do the same for you. 🌊
“She wore her scars like wings” - Atticus I love these words by @atticusxo. It‘s a reminder to, instead of remaining wrapped in a cocoon of hurt feeling like a victim of your circumstances, allow those hardships to help you grow (into a stronger and more resilient being) & spread your wings. 🦋
“The Beauty Way” is a philosophy for life held by Navajo Indians, which mainly focuses on appreciating and maintaining the beauty in the world around us and the world within us. Beauty isn’t just aesthetics; it is also what we cultivate inside ourselves. I believe that having daily self-care rituals is one of many ways we can access this, along with positive thoughts. I love The Beauty Way Blessing: shil hózhó, ‘with me there is beauty’; shii’ hózhó, ‘in me there is beauty’; shaa hózhó, ‘from me beauty radiates’. We can find beauty in everything, including ourselves. Though it can be challenging, especially these days, as there is so much focus on outer appearances, and comparisons. With that being said, below I’ve listed ways you can go within to improve your self-confidence and recognize your absolute beauty: 💗 Practice self-gratitude 💗 Practice self-care 💗 Stop comparing yourself to others 💗 Own your uniqueness 💗 Embrace your strengths 💗 Ditch negative self-talk Replace it with positive 💗 Set realistic expectations for yourself 💗 Recognize your achievements 💗 Stop trying to achieve perfection no one is perfect 💗 Try new things 💗 Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, everyone does - it’s how we grow 💗 Surround yourself with people that support you 💗 Dance, sing, listen to music, express yourself unapologetically 💗 Recognize how strong and resilient you are 💗 Remember no one can replace you 💗 Be authentic 💗 Raise others up 💗 Love unconditionally, especially yourself 💗 See the beauty that surrounds you and realize you are a part of it 💗
As you get older, different things matter. What you once thought was the “be-all and end-all” may slowly morph into something so insignificant that it slips between the cracks of your fingers like tiny grains of sand. It’s ok to let go of things, people, and thoughts that no longer serve you. I believe we are living these lives to evolve, like everything on this planet. We shouldn’t hold ourselves back from growth. Letting go of fear allows us to grow in a peaceful way. 🦋
Finding opportunity in uncertainty. This is Ketut, a well known healer in Bali. My experience with him was absolutely insane, painful, and like nothing I could have EVER imagined experiencing. Having said that, I would recommend him to anyone! I’m the type of person that lives for adventure and new experiences, and not being able to travel has meant the adventurous side of my life is much harder to fulfill. But I’ve found new ways to fill the gap like going on mini road-trips during the day - just driving to to see where we end up, or hiking new trails, trying new creative hobbies, etc. Next thing on the bucket list is learning ceramics! How about you guys? How are you finding opportunity in uncertainty?
Attraction is a Reflection 𓁹 It’s so important to start the day in a positive, abundant mindset to set the tone for the rest of the day - although it may seem difficult to train ourselves to think this way these days. A big part of having a sense of lack for some people might be social media. We scroll through photos of beautiful places, perfect homes, seemingly perfect lives and it makes it easy to believe the grass is greener on the other side. When we embrace the sense of lack we miss opportunities. There is a science to this which makes the Law of Attraction seem less mystical. The Reticular Activating System (RAS) is responsible for filtering our brains to ensure it doesn’t become overloaded with information. It filters the world through the parameters you give it, and your beliefs shape those parameters. As a result it blocks information that doesn’t resonate with our current way of thinking. The bottom line is that if we focus on what we have rather than what we lack, and expand our minds to greater horizons, the universe will reflect this light back on us and our RAS will change the way it filters that information. That’s the magic of the abundance mindset! That’s the secret of attracting more of what you want and less of what you don’t. So keep pretty thoughts in your head as often as you can. 👁🦋👁
That time I went swimming with a gentle giant. 🌊🐋 The majestic whale shark is considered the largest fish in the world yet, despite its size, it’s a gentle, docile creature. After I took this photo, it swam right overtop of me. This moment was pure magic 🤍
Life is art. 🌾
Always remember if things don’t go as planned, it’s not the end. Keep your mind in a positive space. See the silver lining, and things will play out in another light. ✨ This was last year in Bali. It’s crazy how fast things can change! This year we planned to tour the coast of California in a VW. Obviously that can’t happen right now so instead we’ve decided to tour our beautiful country, Canada. You’d think by now, with all the countries I’ve travelled to, I would have toured my own, but I haven’t and I’m really excited to get out there and explore! There’s always a silver lining in everything.
Everything is energy, and according to the wisdom of traditional healing practices, energy can be channelled to create healthy living spaces. Colours, well-chosen objects, and arrangements are sensed by the eyes, skin, nerves, and mind. As such, decorating has a therapeutic element and can be considered crucial to creating balance, energy, and holistic well-being. So in a big way, decorating our homes is a form of self-care! Investing a little into making your home a happy space is well worth it in my opinion.
Remember when getting dressed up and going out was a thing? Lol I barely remember what it feels like to wear a tight dress. I’ve been living in either sweats or swimsuits since March and I don’t know about you but since lockdown my sweatpant collection has gotten out of control. 🤷🏼♀️ Here’s a throwback to Feb 15th (Valentines Day weekend) when Denis and I decided to go for dinner without making reservations (big mistake). After several attempts at different restaurants we couldn’t find a place with an open table so, hangry and out of options, we settled for McDonalds in our fancy attire. 😂 #TheMostRomantic
Anyone else feel like you’ve changed with all that’s happened during the past several months? This experience has gifted me an abundance of time for reflection and travelling deeper within. It’s given me a chance to analyze what I spend my time doing. I’ve been able to throw light on what gives me power and what no longer serves me (or never did in the first place). If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been lately (since I’ve distanced myself from social media) I’ve been enjoying moments and discovering my balance - my happy place. I really feel that by being in this headspace I’ve created a deeper intuitive bond with myself; I’m at a place where I am more in-tuned with how certain things make me feel, whether it’s a decision I make, an experience, or the food I consume. I’ve been changing my daily habits to ensure I stay in my happy place. I encourage you to take time from your day to simply sit, away from electronics and distractions. It’s a meditative experience and I believe it’s a great way to support your mental health and reconnect with the power within you and Mother Earth. If you can sit in nature, take deep breaths, and simply just enjoy that moment, it will make your heart smile. 🌻
Happy Saturday! 💛 Tonight we will be experiencing the grand finale of the lunar eclipse season with a Full Moon in Capricorn and Sun in Cancer. 🌝 It’s unusual to have 3 lunar eclipses in a single lunar month but that sums up what a metamorphic year 2020 has been. During this time my mind has been taking many trips down memory lane. I’ve been using my time more wisely by finding better ways to balance self care and work, and spend more time with people I love (even if it’s on Skype). I know many of us have been feeling a lot of emotions around this time, and I encourage you to embrace these feelings and let them guide you. ✨
It’s time for a shift - a revolution. The universe calls for it. May love, compassion, unity, and equality lay a warm blanket over tainted hearts that learned to hate. It’s vital that we reinstill LOVE - among our children and people who surround us ~ Spreading wisdom and kindness like wildflowers ~ During the past months I’ve been relatively silent here. I’ve been working, learning, and doing a lot of reflecting. I felt now would be a relevant time to share. I’ve put a list together of a few stunning brands owned by creative and talented black individuals that I love, and would like to share with you. Lockdown is teaching me to be more grateful for the things I may have taken for granted before. Even the things that seemed little are not so little after all. It may be stormy now but it never rains forever 🜄
In one of my latest posts I touched on how there are many ways we can improve our overall health without it costing a thing - just a bit of our time and attention. Today I‘d like to speak on the subject and science behind “grounding” or “earthing therapy”. I’ve always been one to love walking barefoot in nature because of the way it makes me feel - a sort of sense of freedom and connectivity to earth. It wasn’t until now that I discovered the science behind grounding and it’s benefits. 🜃 As I’ve expressed before, I love when science gives validity to a “spiritual” belief or practice. This soundness gives more reason to practice such rituals! 🜃 Simply put, the earth has its own electromagnetic field, as do our bodies. When our bare feet connect to the earth, potent antioxidants - in the form of free electrons - are released into our bodies. This provides our bodies with a range of healing effects including the clearing of damaging and disease-causing free radicals, decreasing inflammation, increasing energy levels, and offering beneficial changes to your heart rate. 🜃 To experience significant changes in your health, sit or walk with your bare feet on the earth for at least 40 minutes per day! 🜃 According to biophysicist James Oschman, “Earthing is the easiest and most profound lifestyle change you give to yourself.” So the next time someone asks you why you aren’t wearing shoes you can tell them that the earth’s electrons are healing your body and ask them to join you! Side note: If the weather conditions or other factors are preventing you to do this there are alternatives such as grounding shoes, mats, and sheets you can invest in.
They say the best things in life are free and I believe that now more than ever. Last night I was feeling emotional about what’s happening in world right now. Not just relating to the virus but also the way our society is. I’m recognizing how important it is to really take our overall health into our own hands, especially as we live in a society that creates an intense amount of stress, fear, and confusion when it comes to nutrition. In the midst of the hectic busy lives we live, sometimes we forget to take care of the very thing that keeps us alive, our bodies, and to top it off we are destroying another important ‘organ’ that keeps us alive, the earth. This morning I sat outside while I studied my reading materials for my holistic nutrition course. I’m acknowledging that a lot of things that feed our health (besides food) are simple, free, and just require a little bit of our time and attention. For example, simply being outside for an hour in the sun everyday is vitally important for our overall health. During this time of self isolation remember to get outside and take some deep breaths; give yourself some fresh air and vitamin D from sunlight to keep your body and mind strong, and your energy light. I take this time to appreciate nature and reflect. Stay safe, stay positive, stay present - be mindful X Amanda
Just being 🌿 What’s everyone been getting up to these days? We counted the days we travelled last year - the total was 262 days. Self isolation has been an opportunity to slow down the pace. 🐢 We’ve been taking this time to catch up on house projects, get creative, meditate, drink wine, workout, dance, cook, read, find new music, learn new things, just hang chat and laugh, talk with family/friends, put ideas in motion, and allow more time to just be. 😋✌🏽 #staypositive #stayhome #staysafe #covid_19 🏠

In this present time of fear that seems to be overcoming the globe, I think it is a perfect opportunity to calm our minds, slow the pace, go within and be in the moment. We spend a lot of time thinking about our to do list, stressing, focusing on time, always residing our minds in the future or the past. 🌀 The magic that the quantum field holds is in the present moment, where all opportunity exists. 🌀 This is a perfect time to really connect to your roots, ground yourself, become INSPIRED. Observe the life you’re living, what habits do you want to change? Focus on whats really important in life. This mindset is much better than a mind full of fear, which creates an unhealthy environment within you and weakens your immune system. So please, just chill 😌👌🏽 and stop fighting over toilet paper. 🙏🏽
“Nothing is so strong as gentleness, nothing so gentle as real strength.” St. Francis de Sales Many people can easily see gentleness as being weak but if you take the time to examine what it means to be gentle, you can easily see the strength behind a gentle person. Choosing to be gentle means being free from violence, bullying, and hate. When individuals display harsh behaviour they are coming from a place of weakness. Their shortcoming leads them to attempt to control, manipulate, overpower, condescend, criticize, demean, and so on. When you’re authentically gentle, you’re not looking to gain power over someone or something, you’re just you, being you, at your best, at your happiest, your most supportive, most giving, most inspired self. So the next time you feel like someone is bullying you, instead of retaliating and stooping down to their level of weakness, just remember they are likely merely projecting the way they feel about themselves onto you; they are projecting their weakness. I generally feel sorry for the people who spend their lives trying to make others feel badly about themselves, when they should be looking within themselves to discover what is causing them to behave that way, and dealing with fixing that part of them. The world is a quantum field that we are all connected to. The more your bring people up and the more positive you are in general, the more you bring up the vibration of everything around you, including yourself. 🌺 #bekind #begentle

That Bali glow/sweat 😅 Sitting on the edge of the cliff at @bulgarihotels in Uluwatu just in awe by the beauty of our planet, once again. 🌎 This resort quickly made it to one of my top favourite places to visit, not only because of the location, but the details that went into making this place so stunning and unique. The incorporation of winding cobble stone roads, aromatic flowers, and colours that blend into the landscape ~ perfectly complimenting the scenery surrounding it ~ 🌺 I’ve always had such an appreciation for the thought that goes into making something special. The little details that create magic. To me that is art - seeing the creative abilities we have as humans and being inspired by it. @bulgarihotels in Uluwatu is just that, a magical work of art on the cliffs of Uluwatu. The feeling it creates is hard to describe, but it was a feeling that allowed me to forget about the stressful society we live in and just surrender to the beauty that surrounded me in that moment. ✨ Definitely worth checking out if you’re in Bali. 🇮🇩

You know those moments that take your breath away? I find this feeling happens most when I travel or experience something new. This is something we both experienced when we first arrived in the Sharma Spring bamboo villa in @greenvillagebali_ 🎋 This vila is literally open concept, connecting living space with nature and is made entirely with bamboo. It’s a work of art and total Tarzan and Jane vibes. 🧡🦥
Often people ask “what do you do for a living?” But no one ever asks “Are you happy?” I want to know, what makes you happy? For me it’s the simple things: family, good company, spending time in nature, healthy food, sunshine, animals, exercise (mental and physical), helping others, and balance. I think happiness involves not only keeping those strong connections to what’s real (𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹), but also just allowing yourself to be in real time/in the moment, not focusing too much time on your past and future. I also believe that not caring what people think about you can give you a sense of freedom and in turn, happy vibes. ✌🏽☀️ I’d love to hear your thoughts and what it is that brings you happiness.

Did you know that meditation is just as much scientific as it is spiritual? I feel like when a lot of people hear the word meditation they associate it with spirituality and maybe don’t fully grasp or believe in the effects it can have. But the truth is that meditation has been scientifically proven time and time again to have incredible healing effects, and it all starts with the transmission of neuropeptides (the messengers which send chemical signals throughout your body) which in turn can have miraculous effects on the body and mind! Neuropeptides can be transmitted through a single thought, but it’s regular meditation and focusing on certain thoughts and emotions that actually begin to rewire our brains, change the biochemistry of our bodies, and alter us on a cellular level! 🧬 In today’s day in age we seem to go straight to medicine to help heal the body without fully understanding that it may have the innate intelligence to heal on its own; we truly don’t give our bodies enough credit. There is a reason why the majority of new medicine being tested go through a series of placebo tests. It’s because it’s scientifically proven that the mind has the ability to heal the body by simply believing it’s is being healed. All it takes is starting with a thought and that, in turn, can end in a biological fact. Our brains and bodies are truly fascinating! I can’t even begin to explain all of the positive effects meditation can have on your life, but if you want to experience these effects to full potential, it’s important you learn how to properly get your mind in the right state to meditate correctly. DISCLAIMER: Please talk to your healthcare professional before stopping any medication or treatment in replacement of this practice or based on what you’ve read above. If you would like to learn more, a book that I have found to be extremely helpful is “You Are the Placebo” by Dr. Joe Dispenza. This isn’t an ad at all. I just simply want to share the knowledge with you amazing people ✌🏽🧘🏼♀️☀️ #bethelight
