I complain about bad weather a lot, but in reality, it's a guilt-free ticket to staying at home and getting my life in order, because as soon as the sun comes out, so do I β˜€οΈπŸ’β€β™€οΈ This photo is from a couple of hours prior to the worst hail I've ever had to hike through - it felt like being hit by a hundred tiny marbles repetitively. I'm glad it only lasted 10 minutes πŸ˜… July 13, 2019 πŸ“·@brandonmacmullin β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β € πŸ’™outfit by @mpgsport #lifeinmotion

This was a next level recovery day - the @knordicspa is all about the hydrotherapy cycle: hot, warm, cold, rest & repeat. Going through all the steam rooms, saunas and pools in that temperature sequence stimulates blood flow, eliminates toxins, reduces stress, temporarily cures summit fever and ups your climbing game by a couple of grades. Okay I made up the last one, but the rest are all true πŸ’β€β™€οΈ Photos were allowed until noon only on this particular day, but @qweenyyc and I stayed long after the event was over to reap the benefits of multiple rotations. I'm still not a 5.11 climber but I've been feeling recharged all week! The summit fever is back though *cough cough* πŸ˜‰ September 25, 2019 πŸ“·@qweenyyc #BravetheElements #FortheBold

Another one from the summit of Huber, but this time without my best shot at a poker face. I'm trying to catch up on putting together my stories from the day and sending my friends their month old photos 😁 even though my lap top (cable? 🀞) died on me this morning. Small inconvenience in comparison to how bamboozled I feel by the conditions in the alpine. I'll probably be stubborn enough to try a few more, but chances are, Huber was the last one until it's time for skimo. I should probably just give into doing shoulder season scrambles #winteriscoming β„οΈπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ September 4, 2019 πŸ“·@livewithlivingston

I was so excited to have clear skies and 360 views for the North Summit of Mt. Victoria but that totally backfired. Although we were stubborn for a while and explored a few possible places to go up, the avalanches crashing down on a steeper slope not far from us, made us turn back. While we were enjoying the views from a safe spot on the glacier before heading down into the valley, pretty much every line we considered, slid. I think it's doable if we get the summit for sunrise and descend while the slopes are still cold. Any takers for a 10PM start? 😴 September 19, 2019 PS. I just had my helmet off for the photos on our break, it was on for the glacier travel #safetythird πŸ™„

Last year on this day, I began my caption like this: "I've always hated my birthday because it serves as an annual reminder that I have a little less life to do what I love". This year, all that anxiety has evaporated and I finally feel like I'm spending my time wisely - destroying my body on every alpine climb I can get my hands on. β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β € Yesterday got downgraded to a scramble because of the forecast but I'm leaving my birthday dinner with the fam early tonight for another sleep in my car and a 2am start, and I wouldn't have it any other way. MINUTES after I was bragging to @brandonmacmullin about how great my knee feels, something snapped, crackled and popped in there while I was just walking. The pain was sharp, but it was brief, so I went on with my day up and down Smuts only to have it happen two more times. The next day stairs were my greatest nemesis again 😧 I've given it more than a week of rest and if feels much better so I'm planning to hobble up a near 11 000er tomorrow. It will either feel great or confirm that it's time for another durolane injection to grease the joints πŸ˜… Honestly, I feel 70 years old just writing that, but at least this time I know the drill and I'm not freaking out that I might never climb again. It'll just be a week of Netflix & Chill-my-swollen-knee, so I might be asking for your recommendations soon. Just no soapy teen rom coms pls πŸ™„ #barf September 7, 2019 πŸ“·@brandonmacmullin

#ad On most camping trips I'm crammed in a tiny tent designed with minimal weight in mind and as a result, minimal space. This was a rare occasion where I got to park next to our camping spot and spread out in the @colemanusa Connect Cabin Tent! It could fit nine people, but since it was just @brandonmacmullin and I, we used the main hub as a living room of sorts and set up a table and a couple of chairs. I sent my mom a video of it all and her response was rightfully so: "it's bigger than your place" πŸ˜‚ The 3 person tents connect to the central one, so you can build yourself a tent mansion if you so desire. We definitely got some envious looks at Banbury Campground even though it's the sort of place people bring patio sets to. We were already splurging on our wine & bike day, might as well camp in luxury amirite? You can get yours @CanadianTire β›Ί#GetOutdoors #ColemanCamping August 15, 2019 πŸ“·@brandonmacmullin

I usually look forward to winter, but not this time. I have to wait how long until ski mountaineering in the spring?? 😩😩😩 Even though June and July were a bust, May and August delivered and made up for crappy conditions during what should be the best months for alpine climbing and that left me hungry for more epic 360 views - the kind waterfall ice climbing doesn't deliver. Maybe I'll finally become one of those people who packs their bags and goes somewhere warmer for a bitπŸ€·β€β™€οΈMay 9, 2019 πŸ“·@brandonmacmullin

Sometimes it's nice to do something different and while I have been on a SUP once before, paddling on a lake in the Rockies felt so calming and serene that it just may have hooked me on the sport. It was all silence and relaxation until a bus showed up and its forty passengers started taking photos of my surroundings and whether they liked it or not, me. I couldn't paddle fast enough to get out of their shot, but I also didn't fall off so I'm counting that as a win. @aftershokz is launching their new Xtrainerz headphones that are the same open-ear concept (helpful when it comes to hearing buses of people coming to take a photo with you in it) but completely waterproof - made for pretty much any water sport out there! They use MP3 storage so you can leave your phone behind or put it in one of their dry bags like I did. I found out it's a pretty risky situation trying to take anything out of the dry bag in the middle of the lake without important things slipping through your fingers so if paddle boarding is your thing, I'd go with just using the storage. That's what it's there for πŸ˜‰ #ad #ShokzSquadCAN πŸ’¦August 29, 2019 πŸ“·@mddyelrck

#MountSmuts is considered to be the holy grail of scrambling in the Canadian Rockies and even after all those years of experience, it didn't disappoint! It's full of delicate moves and the rock quality was way better than I expected. The constant exposure and unreal views reminded me why I fell in love with scrambling in the first place. I also felt incredibly free carrying an ultra light backpack for once - overall a 10/10 day πŸ™Œ September 7, 2019 πŸ“·@brandonmacmullin β € πŸ’™ outfit by @mpgsport #lifeinmotion

I usually spend all my "break time" taking photos and I don't end up consuming a lot of calories, even on long days. When I do snack, it has to 1. be something I look forward to eating and 2. have good nutrition to take me through the rest of the day. The probiotic snack bars from @culturedsnackingco pack 12g of protein and other good stuff like iron, calcium and vitamin E. I didn't really have the patience to wait to try all the flavours so I opened four at the same time to have a bite of each. The lemon ginger and the peach are the first ones I finished, followed by blueberry chai and maple pecan, so there you have it - my definitive ranking on the order of how nom these are. The photos are from 12 hour+ days on Mount King George and Mount Cline.Β #ad #culturedsnackingco #probioticsnackbars πŸ“·@skoshofyosh & @brandonmacmullin

Climbing mountains is serious business lol πŸ˜‚ #StoryTime: @livewithlivingston had really bad luck with weather in this area twice already, so for the sake of his sanity, the plan was to get Huber and South Victoria in a day to right all the wrongs. Fast forward to 3AM that morning, things were looking pretty bleak. We were freezing, soaked from rain and 12km from the comfort of warming up in the car. As we made the final decision to end the misery, head back and try to salvage our day elsewhere, we ran into Taylor's partner from his previous struggles in the area. His team was getting ready to start up Huber and we immediately reversed that "final" decision and with soggy feet, headed up with them. The weather held up until we were at the summit and then in typical Rockies fashion we got engulfed in a whiteout that wasn't forecasted. We didn't go up South Victoria because of the lack of visibility but I'm just glad we at least we laughed our way up one objective along with our new friends. What an emotional roller coaster of a day πŸ™ƒ September 4, 2019 πŸ“·@livewithlivingston
