Awkward preteen years...anyone else been there? #DovePartner I’m celebrating #InternationalDayoftheGirl by remembering time passed, and looking to the future. What I would want my 12 year old self to know is the same thing I hope my daughter knows: “You are worthy. You are enough. Celebrate what makes you unique. The things you struggle with now are only there to prepare and strengthen you to be a light for others.” What would you tell your younger self? 12 year old Allie didn’t see herself represented in the media. I was so consumed with my body insecurities that I let them hold me back from doing things I loved like riding my bike, joining art club, and continuing with chorus. Unfortunately that’s not surprising considering 8 in 10 girls with low body confidence opt out of important life activities because of their appearance. Not to mention, appearance is still the top rated anxiety for Gen Z. That’s why it has always been extremely important to me that Cambelle feels confident and supported to do and try anything her heart desires, from picking up an instrument, learning a new sport, making a friend, or trying to master a skill she struggles with. All girls deserve the equal opportunity to reach their full potential and that is possible with programs like the #DoveSelfEsteemProject that has educated over 60 million young people with their self esteem curriculum.
