"I wanna be a Pymble player... ๐ŸŽถ" What a season! It's had it all - Starting with 35+ degree pre season days, postponement due to COVID19, coming back into the season without match fitness and minimal/ restricted training, learnt what tracking back involved for a few weeks playing LW/RW, then on to my first game at CF scoring a hattrick ๐ŸŽฉ๐Ÿ”ฎ within 35 mins of being on the field, to losing confidence ๐Ÿด, match minutes and desire (sport eh!)... This week it's come full circle - getting a start and making the most of it even in the heat ๐Ÿฅต Blocked out the noise and was able to impact the game positively within the first half. I put to good use that tracking back knowledge of earlier in the season I've just mentioned.. - After we cleared the opposing teams corner the CDM dwelled on the ball too long, I came in from behind, snatched it from him and his heavy touch, turning on it and counter attacking toward their goal. Lucky for us, our LW was nice and high and could receive the ball assisting the first goal. (Swipe to see the 76.2m sprint @playertek that started this move off) Next weekend will see the end of what seems a very drawn out season. It's not often we are playing football in mid-late October. If anything that's when you are starting to have a kick/ get some fitness back ahead of December/ January pre season. An enjoyable season all in all, one with many lessons learnt along the way. Pre wedding preparations yesterday. Stunning day celebrating two amazing and wonderful people get married. I was fortunate enough to be one of Scott's groomsmen. Fortnight ago I spoke about consistently adding some LISS activity like walking into your morning routine.. It pays off, trust me. 4km every morning - 30-45mins that's it. The sedative Covid life is crippling. Sit at a screen for 9-10h on average a day. I don't blame you for losing motivation come the end of the day. Think about what your body is dealing with at that time - cortisol โฌ†๏ธ testosterone โฌ‡๏ธ So get up early, get moving ๐ŸŒ„ My results: 4 weeks later I'm at 80kg~ <11% body fat (and dropping) Moving more freely. (swipe to see last night's @playertek stats Three of my sprints registering above 30.5km, top speed at 34.5km ๐Ÿ’จ) Note - diet hasn't changed. After this morning's walk I did 10mins of core work. Mainly because the light was beautiful as it came through the clouds. EXCITED to get my results from @circledna 's extensive DNA test. In short - 100% legend, confirmed ๐Ÿ’‰ In all seriousness that's not all I found out.. Simple swab of the mouth has delivered eye opening data, reaffirmed core beliefs and also reassured concerns around my genetics.. after all Superman had kryptonite. Some key take aways that I can apply to my every day life - My body responds best to a Mediterranean diet, I gather it's thanks to my Italian heritage.. luckily my dad taught me how to fish from a super young age. I'll leave him to tie the hooks still ๐Ÿ˜… In training: My body responds best to high strength and high endurance activities. Suggesting that at least 50% of my training should be done in a strength based environment. Above average lactate clearence with below average lactate production ๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿผ Above average fatigue resistance ๐Ÿ’ฆ High lean body mass ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ Lower risk of major injuries in sport ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ I have no disease causing mutations that can be passed on ๐Ÿ‘พ They measured everything from Achondrogenesis (SLC26A2 Mutation) Zellweger Syndrome Spectrum (PEX1 Mutation) As well as no cancer causing mutations or brain/ memory associated diseases were detected. Saunas have been proven to circulate blood, improve joint movement (thanks astro), and reduce stress (cortisol is spiking after the last few games) When was the last time you treated yourself to some R&R? Tech advanced Leg Day featuring @myontec_ltd Muscle Monitor I've spoken of my excitement in the past when it came to this technology. I feel very privileged to have been able to use and continue to learn from it. The leggings you see in the videos measure the muscle signals during each movement. A complete breakdown of human biosignals allows you to conduct the most accurate and objective analyses of performance and biomechanics giving you the keys for further advancement and evolvement. From this data you are able to detect abnormalities, overcompensation, general muscle load, balance between right and left etc. For me it's accelerated my independence between quad and hamstring on an imbalanced right leg after the LCL injury. Further to this is aided my intensity during training with the use by detecting Muscle fatigue threshold (MFT) the Muscle Monitor gives you specific zones to focus your training on muscles. After simple test protocols the software calculates muscular threshold at which your muscles are performing optimally with regard to your current condition. Now for the leg day: Hip Thrust - warm up sets should be a mixture between explosive and paused at the top. 4 working sets, 12 - 15 reps depending on % of 1RM. Sumo Deadlift 3-4 sets 10-15 reps Front Squat butt touches ๐Ÿ˜ 3 sets of 10-12 reps Let your ass touch the bench and explode up. No need to go too heavy on this. Back Squat 3 sets of 10-12 Depending how everything feels I use this to focus on form and slow eccentrics. Barbell reverse lunge 3 sets of 8 each side. The need for isolating movements when the body is fatigued is beyond beneficial for most, but even more important for athletes that play sports dependent on explosive isolating movements. Leg extension (DB and Band) This is great if you only have a few things at home. Low impact and you are able to isolate the quads. Hamstring curl (banded) Easy to do and super low intensity. WHAT A WEEK - Well and truly off the mark at my new club West Pymble after scoring a hattrick on Saturday afternoon โšฝ I'd been playing out of position on the wing (which to me is a whole different level of commitment to tracking back and defending - I'll be honest and say not my forte) Stick me up front, believe in me and I'll score you goals. After going a goal down early I came on at #9. I think it was one of my quickest hattricks as well (maybe 25-30mins game time before I got all three) 1st - Quad 2nd - Header (yep celebrated like a little kid scoring his first goal - headers don't come that often for a striker of my height) 3rd - Lured in and sat the keeper and defender down, tapping in from just inside the 18 yard box. 3-1 it ended, stoked to come from behind and help the team out with a few flicks and tricks ๐Ÿ˜… Secondly, my beloved Villa stayed up in the Premier League.
