Did you suddenly put on weight after the weekend? . Worry not, if your maintence calories are 2255.. . To have gained a kilo of fat.. . You would have needed to consume just under 10 thousand calories the day before! . That is unlikely to have happened.😅 . You might have had a meal out. . Which was carb rich with lots of sodium. . This can always cause a temporary jump in bodyweight when eaten in a large quantity! . Q : HOW QUICKLY SHOULD I BE LOSING WEIGHT? . I generally don't like to put time frames on things as every one has a different life and all of the factors that matter will be dependant on the individual. . But in an ideal world, the following stats are what we would go by when planning ahead! . Slow - 0.5% of bodyweight per week . Moderate - 1% of bodyweight per week . Rapid- 1.5% of bodyweight Moderate per week. . Slow = Comfortable, manageable, easy. . Rapid = Uncomfortable, unsustainable, likely to give up. . Always give yourself enough time. . We live in a world where everything is instant and we rush into everything. . 'Cathal goes back to College' . Real Talk for anyone feeling overwhelmed when it comes to starting or getting back on to a weight loss mindset : . We won't go from what you eat now to a calorie controlled diet overnight. . If you eat on the go, with no idea of what calories your taking in, what nutrition you're getting from it and know it's not a good 'healthy' approach to eating.. . Then you can't be expected to start filling up tuperware boxes of perfectly weighted out food and have established eating times to suit your schedule. . There are plenty of approaches that suit the busy individual. . Taking out the things you enjoy to eat altogether gives you nothing to look forward too either. . You're not sticking to that. . But thankfully, you don't need too. . Someone who's diet is 70% on the wrong end to their goal only needs a 10% improvement for changes to start happening. . That doesn't mean removing carbs or chocolate either 🤤 . Think of learning an instrument. . You don't start playing songs on day 1. . You slowly make improvements every day/week... . I had a Float in Apollo this week and I must say it was unbelieveable! . We constantly have stress so it's more about managing it than removing it. . If we take time to shut off the world and slow things down to 60 minutes an hour it can go a long way to managing our stress. . A sensory deprivation experience like the float tank is a brilliant tool for doing this! . Breathing techniques are great for this too, look up some guided meditations if you want to give it a shot! .
