Body dysmorphic disorder - what is it? I have never spoke about this before but most of my life I have dealt with body Dismorphia. Currently I am probably in the best shape of my life but every time I look in the mirror I feel "skinny-fat". Your body will continue to change for the rest of your life. Whether it’s every second, minute, hour, day, year, or decade. No one feels the same at all times of day, week day to weekend, decade to decade, or looks the same from all angles, positions, lighting, etc. . . And that’s pretty cool. It’s honest. It’s real. So why is it so hard to embrace it? . . When you find the way you look (your youth, your size, etc) the most valuable part of who you are- you will fight tooth and nail to maintain it. Which is a futile effort considering we all age and …eventually die 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s the circle of life. . . which is why self care & acceptance are so important… ➖ viewing your body through a gentle lens, being kind to yourself ➖knowing your body from all angles, lighting and finding value in ALL of it ➖It also means letting go of those toxic beauty expectations that encourage disordered eating and poor body image . . YOUR BODY - MY BODY is not an object to be consumed or judged…but rather an instrument to be utilized, valued, and treasured at all shapes, sizes, ages, angles, etc. . . Because you only get one and it can take you to some amazing places and through so incredible adventures! What other significant purpose does it serve? Friendly reminder: being on vacation doesn't mean you need to let yourself go & eat like 🗑 - when I'm on vacation I train less, only about 3 times a week to maintain, but nevertheless I train. Why? Here’s a cute lil’ solo brunch date that I took myself on over the summer in Las Vegas 🤍 For the longest I was the type of person to wait on other people to go out & experience what life has to offer. It wasn’t until last year when I embarked it on a journey to self-love that I started to learn how to be okay with my own company. Not only does it feel good to treat yourself, but it helps you learn more about yourself and your interests & find comfort in solitude! Ngl, it’s not the most comfortable thing to do at times, but once you get over caring about what other people think & start being more present it is quite enjoyable. Table for one me please! ☝🏽🥰 When I’m feeling extra bold I’ll bring my tripod because one thing about me is imma always get some good flicks even if I have to take them myself in public.
