Back to my shiny glass jars and the berries from my garden. Perhaps in another life I was a magpie? 😅 It's impossible not to be inspired these days by the abundance of things growing out there. Womit backt ihr? 🥐🍞🧁 Es ist Weihnachtszeit und damit Plätzchensaison! Für viele bedeutet das sicher, dass sie so viel Backpapier wie das ganze Jahr über nicht verbrauchen. Welche (ökologischen) Möglichkeiten gibt es da? Das haben wir uns angesehen! Grundsätzlich gibt es Einweg und Mehrweg-Alternativen. Letztere zeichnen sich dadurch aus, dass man sie länger benutzen kann. Bei guter Pflege idealerweise mehrere Jahre. Leider sind gerade Modelle mit Teflon/PFTE-Beschichtung aber so gar nicht umweltfreundlich und das einzige getestete Modell ist bei Öko-Test durchgefallen. Eine Alternative sind Silikonbackmatten. Auch wenn hier ähnlich wie bei Backformen aus Silikon theoretisch die Gefahr besteht, dass flüchtige organische Bestandteile freigesetzt werden. Im Test von Öko-Test waren alle getesteten Silikonmatten dahingehend unauffällig. Einweg-Papiere sind meist ebenfalls silikonbeschichtet. Silikon ist nicht biologisch abbaubar, daher gehören die Papiere nicht in den Bio- sondern in den Restmüll. Viele Hersteller deklarieren ihre Papiere dennoch als biologisch abbaubar - ein Grund, warum viele Hersteller bei Öko-Test abgewertet wurden. Auch hier können bei falscher Verwendung oder minderwertiger Verarbeitung flüchtige organische Bestandteile freigesetzt werden. Deshalb sollte man die Papiere austauschen, sobald sie brüchig werden, und sich an die angegebene Höchsttemperatur halten (meist circa 220 Grad). Aber auch die beschichteten Backpapiere schnitten bei Öko-Test idR mit „Gut“ oder sogar „Sehr gut“ ab, weil keine schädlichen Stoffe gefunden werden konnten - egal ob günstig oder teuer. Ich (Tati) nutze gerne Auflaufformen als Backpapier- und Unterlagenersatz. "It's a baby peach tree for your garden!" He could have bought anything in that market in the park of an old Venetian villa, but he chose a tree for me. Carlos is the kind of friend I know I will grow old with. He was there in my early twenties and in my early thirties, a decade in which we saw each other in our best and worst moments pursuing the dream of making a living from photography. I can already imagine us as two eccentric middle-aged characters spending summer nights in my Venetian garden, constantly talking about how to break through and make a lot of money to buy luxury homes and works of art. The tree has grown and now is laden with sweet ripe fruit. Every time I pick a peach, I am reminded of my friend saying something crazy that cracks me up. Like when he very sweetly tells me that we are two hopeless cat ladies 😅 and that eventually we will die poor and surrounded by cats and all our damn photography books.
