This public installation by artist and activist @tame_iti tells the story of delivering the Māori language petition to fight for te reo to be spoken in schools. Hei wāhanga o te kōrero, he hiahia tō Tame kia pupuru ki ōna wheako i whiua ai ia, he kōrero nōna i tōna reo. As part of the kōrero , Tame wished to record his experience of being punished for speaking his own language. This is Projection of Punishment, a three-hour-long loop of him writing lines projected onto the walls of Te Papa during Māori Language Week. #maori #māori #maoriart #maoriculture #maoriartist #tereo #tereomāori #tereomaori #wellington #wellingtonnz #welly #wellynz #nz #nzart #nzartist #aotearoa #aotearoanz #nzblogger #newzealand #newzealandlife #newzealandpics #hui #mahi #mahimahi

There's a side of Wellington we don't post about every day... it's a little damp 🌊 We've come to love the moody-rainy Wellington where it's a must to find a cosy little haunt to call your own. From bars to coffee shops, there's plenty of little hideaways in the city. What gets you through the #wellywinter? Incredible photo by @danjordonphoto
Wellington winter isn't all about the cold. Crisp but sunny days like today are your chance to get out to the coast, take in some ship-watching and maybe even spot some seal 🦭 or penguin 🐧 pups by the water 🌊 So here are our Top 5 coastal trails/tracks/hikes for this weekend: 1. 🦆 Pencarrow Coast by two beautiful lakes will take you to a historic lighthouse with native seabirds, plants, eels, and fish for you to spot along the way 2. ⛵️ Hataitai Beach is perfect for reflecting by the calm water and the colourful boat sheds 3. 🦭 Red Rocks - perfect for sea doggo spotting and generally a very beautiful walk with coloured rocks you won't find anywhere else 4. ⛰ Mākara Beach is where you start your walk to the bench with the most picturesque and peaceful views of the Cook Straight and the wind turbines scattered over the hills. Don’t forget to explore the decommissioned WW2 bunkers, too! 5. 🐧 Eastern Walkway is a dog-friendly trail where you can be lucky enough to spot little blue penguins, so please keep your pup on a leash so as not to spook them 🦮 Biggest thanks to the photographers who took these wonderful shots and let us share them with you. Please check out more of their work in the tags.
