Video Feature • In its engagement with the site, the front face of Parkside Residence is deliberately open to the front garden, which then acts as a transitional threshold between the home and the street. As an expression of the gabled form, the rear living area uses the entire cavity, allowing the eye to be drawn upward and natural light to be brought into the space in abundance. The North America Series • Video Feature • Deliberately designed with connections to the outdoors, Madison Desert Club is a home built for entertaining and celebration. With the residence linked together by a large roof, its dramatic character is further heightened with the Oculus, a circular design within that offers uninterrupted views of the sky above. Finished with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that retract, the home enhances the owners’ and their guests’ experience by allowing them to immerse themselves into the surrounds. Issue No. 12 Feature • The North America Series • Several hours north of San Francisco, a rugged stretch of coast sits populated with modernist timber buildings overlooking the rocky coves and inlets where ocean meets land. Here, Ramirez Residence exists as part of The Sea Ranch – an enclave of buildings that have popped up in the landscape over several decades in the spirit of a vision conceived by a collective of architects and designers in the 1960s.
