Milk Peda/ doodh peda This is the only sweet I use to like as a kid. Now the story is different.😜 I had a litre of full fat milk which is expiring in two days. I asked my daughter what she wants and she said peda. I am ok as it has less sugar but more work 🙂. This Indian sweet has different names palkova, if jaggery is added therattipaal, milk cake with lemon juice, doda burfi which is another form. Basic ingredients remain same. Milk and sugar. I didn’t add any flavour. Just the key is flame should be medium heat or else the bottom will burn. Continuous stirring is must. You can shape it into burfi or use press for this peda or simply make balls and flatten. I used 1 litre of milk and 1/4 cup of sugar. Paneer green peas pulao for lunchbox. If I have a small piece of paneer and want to make green peas Pulao rich I use to fry the paneer cubes and add into it along with cashews. This green peas Pulao was learnt from my colleague in Mangalore. But the way she explained is still in my brain and has been following it since then. This was 20 years old story. Recipe: 1. Wash and soak 1 cup of basmati rice. 2. Slit green chilli, slice onions. 3. In a cooker, add ghee and oil. Add cinnamon, 2 cloves, cardamom and bay leaf. 4. Add the green chilli and sliced onions and sauté 5. Also ginger garlic paste and saute. 6. Add green peas and give it a mix. 7. Add drained rice, 1.5 cups of water, salt. 8. Add mint leaves and cook for 2 whistles. 9. Fry cashews and paneer in ghee and add. Chow chow bath Speciality of Karnataka. This was in my list for long time. Last week prepared vangi bath and had the homemade vangibath powder. So thought instead of upma( the most hated word 😆) planned this karabath. Till I finish this didn’t plan to make kesari. But the plate is fulfilled with both. So just made to display 🤗. Thenga therattipaal. Made seedais in advance for gokulashtami and was wondering what to make on that day for neivedhyam. Therattipaal is my all time favourite. But time consuming. Had a tin of condensed milk and was looking for microwave therattipaal and came across this in @rakskitchen which I have never tried. Being thanjavur marumagal idha try pannalana eppadi. So tried immediately. I initially thought it would be like pooranam but it tasted different. Loved the taste 🤤. Lunch plate. 👉🏽Rice, ghee, eggplant gravy/kathirikkai kuzhambu 👉🏽Broad beans stir fry/avarakkai poriyal 👉🏽Potato chips 👉🏽Paruppu Rasam 👉🏽Curd After a long trip and only tamarind rice and curd rice, it is so satisfying to have a kuzhambu, with poriyal. Weekend well spent in a cottage with kayaking and canoeing. Kuzhambu recipe: 1. Cook tuvaram paruppu with turmeric powder. I cooked 1/4 cup and used both for Rasam and kuzhambu 2. Soak a small lemon size tamarind. 3. I used small onions for this. Big onion can also be used. 4. Heat sesame oil and add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. 5. Sauté small onions, green chilli, curry leaves and then cubed brinjal/eggplant. 6. After the colour changes add tamarind extract, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt. 7. Let it boil till the raw smell leaves. 8. Add 1/4 cup of cooked toor dal/tuvaram paruppu and cook till it thickens. Enjoy with rice and ghee.
