On Wednesday, the Rubicon Trail Foundation presented Edio Delfino, the owner of All Coast Builders in Placerville, an award for Outstanding Volunteerism. Edio and his team, at the request of RTF and in coordination with El Dorado County, replaced at his own cost all the T111 siding that was rotting on the the Rubicon rest stops with Hardie Plank concrete composition siding. Thanks to Edio, the rest stops now have siding that will last for decades. Edio on left. The Rubicon Trail Foundation is a federally recognized, non-profit organization dedicated to the future health of the Rubicon Trail. RTF acts as the support for Rubicon work projects and as liaison with local government organizations. This support can range from getting approval for projects from the appropriate agencies, to feeding the volunteers, to buying the supplies needed to maintain the trail. We also fight the efforts of others to close or restrict use of the Rubicon Trail System. Our Officers and Directors represent a wide variety of Rubicon Trail users and supporters. Due to the favorable weather, there was some good work completed on the Rubicon Trail this past weekend by volunteers from Rubicon Trail Foundation (RTF), Friends of the Rubicon (FOTR), and the Tahoe National Forest (TNF). Some of the work completed included clearing out drainage outlets, adding a couple of new drainage structures, and fixing some holes that were developing at the lower section of Cadillac Hill. We thank you for your collaboration and continued engagement in the management and stewardship of the Rubicon Trail as it is both invaluable and much appreciated.
