Have you ever seen rush hour in the @lakedistrict? 🐑 How Baaaa-rilliant is this Rydal Beck sheep roundup captured by @lakelandwalkstalks These are Swaledale sheep but you’ll spot the hardy Herdwick on the fells when you visit. It's thought they were brought to the region somewhere between the 10th and 11th centuries during the Viking invasions of western England, along with the Billy bookcase and KÄRLEKSGRÄS cushions. Cumbria has a population of around 500,000 - but there are over 3 million sheep! This is @timholt falling asleep as I count them... 💤

Tag a friend who struggles with the gates in the English countryside 😂 Love this by @durkandski As there is rich variety of gates, there is always that moment of embarrassment as you fiddle around trying to open it… with a queue of hikers behind you! The oldest countryside gate in England is believed to be the Clapper Gate in Dartmoor National Park. Dating back to the Bronze Age, it is estimated to be over 4,000 years old. A bit like the sandwich I just had at the petrol station. This is @timholt wishing you a wonderful Saturday! ☀️

Comment your emoji reaction to this cosy cottage! 😍 How perfect is this slate home from Little Langdale in the beautiful Lake District, England by @daniel_casson There is actually a place called “Ting Mound” nearby. It looks like a slightly raised boulder covered in moss, but it was used as a Viking parliament where settlers gathered to discuss matters of farming and trade over 1,400 years ago! This is @timholt wishing you a fantastic Friday! 🇬🇧
Will you be visiting the Rannerdale Knotts bluebells this year? 💙 Photos by @thefoxesmeadow Legend says this is the site of a battle between the native Cumbrians and Norsemen and the invading Normans in the late 11th or early 12th century. These bluebells (which appear purple in bright sunshine) are said to have sprung from the spilt blood of the slain Norman warriors! To be featured, follow @lakedistrict and tag us! 🏕️
