There's a six-degrees-of-separation story behind the handsome chestnut dining table at @julianguthrie.architecture and Axiom Projects' Wairangi Villa home. One of the owners' friends was visiting when they spotted a tiny bit of graffiti on it and realised it used to be theirs! I mean, what are the chances? Enjoy the rest of the charming tale about this beautifully renovated heritage home filled to the brim with art in our February/March issue. Home by the Sea by interior designer and stylist @nataliewalton showcases surf shacks and hinterland hideaways in Byron Bay — and a host of ideas that translate effortlessly to our shores. In our February/March issue, we take a look inside its houses, including this off-the-grid, rammed-earth home by architectural designer @zanawright (pictured in the first four images from left), this rustic bach by Sonya Marish of @jatanainteriors (the following four) and this renovated inland homestead. The kitchen in the @bestdesignawards-winning Herne Bay Road House by @bureauxltd features a massive slab of marble that serves a dual purpose: it's an incredibly beautiful backdrop, and it's used to conceal a lot of function — the scullery on one side and laundry on the other. Now that's what we call pretty/clever. See more in our Feb/Mar issue, on sale now. Photography @samuel_hartnett Build and landscape @rlb_ltd #kitchengoals #bureauxarchitects

Interior/product designer Sally McDonald of @thearcdept (left) and florist Lucy Houghton of @ludiamondflowers couldn't be happier with their new shared space in Ngāmotu/New Plymouth. Both creatives were getting tired of WFH when an idea sparked an introduction that led to a store slash studio and this new collection of resin vases — Spliced. @catherinedotsteel tells the story in our new issue out now. @ginamarie_ornament, founder of homeware and interior styling consultancy @ornament.nz, has six renovations under her belt and loves sharing what she's learned from them with her customers. This impeccably resolved space was a shoo-in for the cover of our new issue; it shows how interesting pale can be, and how a few well-arranged investment pieces can trump oodles of less thought-through stuff. Simple shapes and muted tones define the master suite at this Ōtautahi/Christchurch address by @urbanfunction, @built_chch and @the_home_maker_interiors. Curves are also integral to the design language; you can see one of them behind the bed (standing in as a headboard in textural rendered plaster) and a wall in the ensuite curves around into the shower as well. A dayroom is by definition equipped for relaxation and recreation, and the one at this Piha bach by @macintosh.harris (our summer cover home) is next-level R&R-ready, all extra-long dining table, cosy around-the-fireplace couches and kitchen servery that keeps the cook part of the conversation. Which detail is your favourite? We're obsessed with the floor-to-ceiling louvres! Photography @duncaninnesphotography #nzarchitecture #nzbach #macintoshharris

Renovating this home in St Marys Bay, Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland saw @lloydhartleyarchitects get more amenity into the compact building through a better use of floor space, more logical flow and an improved connection to the outdoors. Lit by skylights, the new kitchen links to the garden through stacking doors that lead to its outdoor cooking-and-dining counterparts. It's all in the detail too — did you notice the curved wall in the dining room? 😍 Photography @david_._straight #nzarchitecture #renovation #lloydhartleyarchitects
