I love this test! Putting « clothing » on our carbs means adding protein, fat or fiber when we eat something sweet or something starchy. The clothing slows down the glucose spike of the starches or sugars. Here I had 10 almonds and one large square of dark chocolate vs. 20 grams of trail mix. It was just for this example, there is no particular reason why I chose 100 calories - mostly because it’s a pretty round number.

👉 Smoothies: if your smoothie contains fat, protein, and some fruit for taste, that’s fine - just make sure it’s not 100% fruit. 👉 Juices: vegetable juices are ok because veggies don’t contain sugar so their juice doesn’t contain any either 👉 If you want fruit, eat it whole, that’s the best way!

Take a look at your daily activities: is there a moment when you do some chores, walk your dog, run an errand…? If you do 10-25 mins of these after a meal, your muscles will use some of the glucose from the meal and that will reduce the glucose spike. You can use your muscles within 90 minutes after the end of a meal to get an effect.
