Yesterday’s lunch was an amazing treat. We went to Comal, a “heritage food incubator that supports immigrant and refugees entrepreneurs in the Denver community”. The idea here is it’s a rotating crew of budding chefs and cooks that strut their stuff with the community in hope of building a fan base and support to start their own restaurants or food trucks. New years was pretty low key in our house. My boy did well in his first wrestling tournament (learned a lot too!), we went out for celebratory sushi, took my mom fabric shopping (kill meeee), I put fancy blue dogs on a classic chainsaw I’d rebuilt, and we enjoyed sparkling rosé by the warm wood stove until legally past midnight. Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone! My mom, who’s hiding out the Canadian winter here in California, made us a ludicrous amount of cabbage rolls this evening so we didn’t even bother with a traditional turkey dinner. It was glorious. One of my Christmas gifts from my wife was a spherical ice maker for my evening bourbon. I immediately filled it with water and my first ice glove was ready in the evening. Mmmm.
