Swipe 🔛 for BEAUTIFUL transformation Today’s patient came to me wanting a textbook breast augmentation. However, a simple breast augmentation would not be that simple. Unbeknownst to her, she suffered from a congenital anomaly known as tuberous breasts. This happens when the breasts fail to develop normally and fully. Like my patient, most women go through life thinking they have asymmetrical breasts when there is truly an internal and external malformation. The severity can range from mild to severe and typical physical characteristics include puffy aereolas, larger than normal space in between the breasts, constricted minimal breast tissue, and higher than normal breast creases. Due to all of those things these cases can be very hard to give the patient the breast augmentation they often envision due to the complexity of the case. However, as you all know I love a good challenge. In order to achieve the optimum outcome I began by releasing the constricted “bands” inside of the breasts to create the ideal environment for the implants we would be using. I also had to lower the higher breast crease or “fold” to ensure proper symmetry and cleavage. Implants were placed to create volume, shape, and assist in enlarging the lower pole of the breasts. I also lifted the nipples and removed the gland behind them to eliminate the puffy appearance. This beautiful patient of mine was a case of revision plus upgrade 💪🏼. Her procedure history with different surgeons included 2 prior breast augmentations and a round of liposuction. After her initial consultation with me the problems identified were the excess skin in her breasts and abdominal area, diastasis recti, and a large separation of the breasts leaving minimal desired cleavage. To address the breasts I performed the needed breast lift to address the extra skin. I also revised the breast pockets to create the optimum placement for the new exchanged implants. After completing the aforementioned steps she was left with lifted, closer, full, and beautiful breasts. Next we needed to remedy the issues of her abdomen. I performed additional Lipo to remove the stubborn fat pockets, surgically reattached the abdominal muscles, and removed all of the excess skin. Last night was dedicated to celebrating the career of a Plastic Surgery legend… Dr Hunstad. After years of tireless days he has reached a well deserved retirement. I wanted to share the speech I prepared to express the importance he has played in my life… “Hi everyone. I’m Babis Rammos and I did my fellowship with Dr Hunstad in 2015-16. Entering fellowship for most of us is an extremely exciting time. We are one step closer to being on our own and I truly believe God placed me in Charlotte. There is no doubt in my mind, that Dr Hunstad’s belief in me along with the academic and personal support through that year is how I’ve become who I am today. Who we all are today. The amount of people who have gathered in this room to celebrate him today is a testament to the impact he has had on so many. The funny thing is that while this amount of people may seem large… we are only a fraction of the lives you have touched. A ripple effect if you will. Through your skill, tutelage, mentorship, and kindness there is an unquantified amount of people you have impacted whom you will never meet. Allow me to be a proxy for them. Thank you from the patients whose lives you have improved or saved. Thank you from their families for caring for their loved ones. Thank you from the parents of the fellows you have taught, making it possible for them to watch their children fulfill their dreams and flourish.
