Big boiii

Well this is fun! Back at @vanguardu but this time as an adjunct in the music department. Grateful for the opportunity to pour into another generation of up and coming worship leaders and musicians.

I love him so so much. My big three year old who loves stories and adventures! Happy birthday my guy! You literally make me laugh everyday.

I lived in Tokyo… After high school I spent a year and a half in Japan with no plan but to run away. Young, confused, arrogant, and afraid I found myself fully embraced by Seiji and Kathy Oyama. I lived in the church they pastor with them and their family of four kids. They loved me from day one as their own. Much can be said about that particular season. So much. But I’ll say this one thing… no other chapter has been more pivotal in my life and my walk with Jesus than living in Japan with Seiji and Kathy. They were there in step with me through all of it. Loving, nurturing, challenging, guiding, and encouraging. Japan and the Oyama’s completely changed my life and the trajectory of my life. Kathy is a strong, stern, brilliant woman. She is a compelling communicator who is full of wisdom. All the while, carrying herself as a nurturing mother. Seiji has a depth of leadership and humility like none I’ve ever seen. I’d constantly want to hear stories from him (like how he used to smuggle bibles into China), but instead he would deflect and want to know about me. 1) Because he always kept the work he did for God quiet 2) He was always much more interested in me. Finally, after 15 years I got to see Seiji and Kathy for the first time. They immediately saw me, said no words, walked up, hugged me tightly, and held me like a son. The first words they said was “You’ll always have a home.” 😭 To this day, the both of them still live in Tokyo pastoring, teaching, and sharing the gospel. We caught up and the church is thriving. What a special moment I’ve waited for such a long time. Thank you Lord.

Hume always seems to show up and mark significant chapters in my life. This year I experienced how God weaves & uses every various past season to bless, remind, teach and encourage. HE wastes nothing. Leaving this trip so grateful for many “full circle” moments. @bre.valenz your life and leadership is an inspiration and challenges me to go deeper in worship. @sammygayer you have such an anointing. Thank you for that new song and making me laugh so hard. @meganfate thank you for taking so many moments to slow us down and be in tune with what God is up to. Love doing ministry with you. @colewalker__ @stevenguderfanpage Isaiah Robinson - thank you for the wonderful convos and quality time. Boys will be boys 😉.
