A little photo dump from the past two years of riding around our home turf 🤙 Our two-year motorcycle journey was our offroad riding debut. We had never been off the pavement before we set off on the Dalton Highway in Alaska 5 years ago. So we were stoked to start exploring our backyard on day trips and weekend getaways once we finished our journey. While you can't legally go completely offroad in Norway, we definitely have some incredible riding opportunities on fast-flowing gravel roads deep in...
Back in 2019, our friend Frank (@frankneikes) which we met in Africa had reached Pakistan on his KTM. I (@christianrode) flew down and joined him for a 4 week ride. The journey started on the scenic Karakoram Highway, a twisty picturesque road connecting China and Pakistan. It was filled with numerous valleys to explore along the route, some for the bravehearted with deep cliffs and narrow trails, hours away from phone signal. Traffic in Pakistan is unlike anything I've experienced before. It ...
Hi all, remember us? We want to fire up this account again, but first a word to the followers that have held their breaths for the past years waiting in vain for us to upload the last photos of our Cape Town to Nordkapp trip: Thank you for your patience and please forgive the latency, if you are still here. And still breathing. We'll pick it up where we left off, in the interiors of East Africa where we had just arrived to Ethiopia after a grueling three day ride through the hot and desolate T...
Happy new year everyone!🍻 2018 was another great year for us, with the majority of it spent on two wheels chasing adventures across 25 countries. 2019 will be quite a lot calmer and more stationary, but we're planning some epic adventures for this year as well, just on a bit smaller scale. Thanks for following along and stay tuned for the final photos from our Cape Town to North Cape journey!🌍
DAY 632 - We rode the final stretch along Lake Turkana and arrived at the border to Ethiopia. The Kenyan temporary import papers for our bikes had expired with a few days. We tried getting the papers renewed at the customs office in Nairobi, but it was impossible. No way they told us. So the bikes were illegally in the country. We decided to test our luck and try to leave the country - maybe they wouldn't notice? We were quite worried as we approach the remote border crossing to Ethiopia. We fi...
DAY 631 - We first heard of Lake Turkana from Micheal and Tanya of Earth's End, a fantastic adv travel blog. They did the route about 3 years ago, and after speaking to them we knew we had to give it a shot ourselves. It has everything we look for in a great adv ride, tough terrain, extreme temperatures and climate and little to no food, fuel and water. I guess we're not too picky! The Turkana region is often subject to tribal conflicts and unrest, so it's important to do your research before h...
DAY 630 - Back on the road, en route to Lake Turkana. This is a lake by the border to Ethiopia, one of the most deserted areas in East Africa. We're stocked up on food, water, fuel and excitement for a few days of tough riding #Kenya | #LakeTurkana | #Africa | #photooftheday | #Interfotonorge | #adv | #adventure | #advrider | #desert | #nature | #camping | #canon | #overland | #roadtrip | #RTW | #travel | #neverstopexploring
DAY 606 - HEY! Missed us? Sorry for the silence guys, it's about time we start posting again! We've fallen way behind with our uploads. How far behind, you ask? About 6 months... WHAT?? Yeah.. In fact, we have actually already arrived back home in Norway... YOU'RE KIDDING??!! Nope, but more on that later! As far as the Internet's concerned we're still down in East Africa, rippin' trails and havin' a good ol' adventurous time 😉 So we'll pick it up from there, with a few shots from our amazing saf...
DAY 589 - Another exciting day in the Congo! Riding a crap bike on awful dirt roads through rebel territory, what could possibly go wrong? Luckily, Christian had an armed park ranger on the back, holding on tightly while they were passing shocked locals and a heavily armed UN convoy; none of them expected to see a smiling white guy far out in the bush 🤠 #Congo | #DRC | #Africa | #photooftheday | #interfotonorge | #Virunga | #ranger | #motorcycle | #AK47 | #UN | #traffic | #dirt | #canon | #over...
DAY 588 - We hiked through the dense jungle, one ranger with a machete in the front, another with an AK-47 in the back and us in the middle. At first we had to chop our way through the thick vegetation. Then we came out on a path which was already cleared. But this was no man made trail. This was were the mountain gorillas we were tracking had walked, just hours before us, tearing down anything in their way. After about an hour of hiking the ranger quietly stopped us. "We are here" he said. Our ...
DAY 587 - "Thank you for taking the risk of coming here" said the park ranger to us shortly after entering the Congo. It's one of the largest and poorest countries in Africa, and among the least developed in the world. It's a country rich in history, nature and people, but very few tourists ever go here, with good reason. The country has seen decades of civil war, conflicts and humanitarian crisis, leaving millions of civilians dead, with no ending in sight. Our original plan was to cross the co...
DAY 585 - It's not always easy to keep the bike on the trail! Peter really got his 640 down deep in the water. Luckily five strong men who didn't mind getting a little wet and dirty came to Peters rescue. They were beyond excited afterwards when he gave them some small money for their efforts! #Rwanda | #Africa | #photooftheday | #interfotonorge | #KTM | #640ADVENTURE | #mountains | #trail | #motorcycle | #mud | #canon | #overland | #roadtrip | #RTW | #travel | #Adventurerider | #neverstopexplo...
