The weather really turned here this week and got me in the mood for some changes! I switched out the curtains on my buffet for something more neutral (I used the old panels as templates and just cut new panels out of a drop cloth…didn’t even sew them!🤫) I haven’t pulled out any pumpkins yet! I plan to bring them out a little later since this will all be up until Black Friday and, though I love me some pumpkins, 2 months is a bit much even for me! 😂 I did find this super cute autumn leaves garland (awesome price for two 6.5’ garlands! I’ll link them in stories for you) and since the changing colors the past few years haven’t been quite as vibrant, this is filling that void! I love how it looks on my @ohsweetskye sign. A dog & her fiddle leaf... . . Not my typical post but I found this sweet pic in my camera roll over the weekend and was amazed by two things - 1. I actually remember taking this pic & 2. how much my fig leaf has grown in less than a year! I’m winding down on summer over here and so is my yard. I know some people find themselves the target of IG negativity pretty frequently but I’ve been fortunate and haven’t had to contend with much negativity at all. One comment stuck with me, though, and makes me laugh to this day...yes, laugh! After a third party shared my kitchen (from the other angle) one person commented that my island was too big and had no seating. Apparently they thought I had a 2D kitchen 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 By today’s standards my island definitely isn’t particularly large...the main section is 52”x75” (I just measured) and the lower baking center adds another 25” to the length. Still, I’ve yet to hear anyone complain that their kitchen has too much counter space! Is it even possible? It got me thinking, because I do love big islands (& I cannot lie!) so I wanted to share some other accounts whose islands will make you swoon! All is well, I’m not pulling fall out yet! This was just me wishing I could stick my gorgeous @ohsweetskye sign in front of the “idiot box”, as my husband affectionately calls it! It’s not quite as big as the TV but I’m still brainstorming how I can make this happen! Do we really *need* to see the screen? Isn’t sound enough?! 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 My family aren’t convinced! Anyway I added some cove moulding around the edge of the tile so while I was painting that I gave the whole space a fresh coat! I love how “complete” it looks now...only 5 years later! Do you ever have days where your relatively short to-do list is suddenly totally undoable? Today I woke up anxious. It doesn’t happen often but it can be crippling. I don’t usually discuss it on here but I know I’m not alone! Sometimes it’s just my hormones playing tricks on me. Other days I just feel especially inadequate. On days like today I try extra hard to focus on what brings me peace and appreciate the lovely family & safe home I’ve been blessed with! I used to work out extra vigorously on anxious days but unfortunately that’s not an option right now, something that adds to my anxiety, so I just try to stay busy on easy projects (this was a small one I did today, if you didn’t see my stories, I gave my tiny foyer a little update) and as a plant lady wannabe, even though I still only have a few, I spend time tending to them. Keeping these babies alive gives me such a sense of purpose & accomplishment! You’d think after keeping 3 humans alive (2 through to adulthood!) I’d be pretty adept at this but it’s a struggle, still it occupies my mind for a time! I’m especially proud of this little lady on the right as she started out at only 2’! Last week our AC guy was over checking one of our units & as he walked through the breakfast room he remarked how much the house has changed since he was last here, 5 years ago! I hadn’t realized it had been so long but then I remembered (don’t ask me how, let’s just appreciate the miracle for what it is! 😂) that I’d been running my eldest son, now a college Sophomore, to his middle school lacrosse practice when the units were being installed. Then on Saturday we went to see The Lion King & sitting in a movie theater with our adult/nearly grown children, watching a movie they loved to watch as babies, makes for many trips down memory lane! I may have teared up…was it the memories or Simba’s banishment? 🤷🏼‍♀️ And now it’s almost August and we JUST got back from England yesterday...in May! 🤔 Anyone else feeling like the earth must be spinning faster?! . . 🌿 Paint: board & batten/trim is Behr Ultra Pure White.
