See you guys in class tomorrow 💜
I remember buying this ring light years ago when I wanted to film videos for YouTube. I hated how awkward I was on video and editing the video just made me cringe so I just never bothered to use it again 😅 I was full of fear and discomfort about the whole thing. . Now that I have such a strong purpose to empower women with @hairgrowthlab, it’s been so much fun filming videos. I just didn’t have a strong enough reason to get out of my comfort zone with video before this. But now that I do, it’s been much easier to fight through the self-doubt and fears that come with starting a new and uncertain path. . The fear is still there and I’m nervous as hell. But the purpose behind @hairgrowthlab is stronger than any fear can be. The purpose to empower women to love themselves through self-care and haircare so they can use that confidence to take control over their lives and live their best one. Just like how haircare empowered me, I want that for every other woman too 💜 . Enrolment closes on Sunday so don’t forget the signup if you want to join the class on Monday! Link in my bio 💕
I’ve never asked you guys this before but I’m super curious! What did you study and what do you do for a living? If you’re still studying, what are you studying and what do you want to do after your studies? 💕 - I could never make up my mind so I went from finance to fine jewellery to event management (looking back, i have no idea how I thought I could handle that type of intensity🙈) to teaching English to marketing and finally information technology. My mum HATED my jumping around and wanted me to stick to something long-term but it all worked out in the end!
Looking at my reflection today, I see a completely different person from who I was in January. I started the year bedridden from a muscle mobility issue which stemmed from a period of chronic stress I had at the end of last year. My hormones were severely imbalanced, lost way too much weight and I didn’t get my period for months 😰 . I remember as 2018 came to an end, I promised myself I would put myself first so I could show up for you guys in 2019 as the best version of me 💪 So I started my healing and removed all stressors from my life (including social media) and I completely changed my lifestyle and priorities. I spent the year taking care of myself which allowed me to be my most creative and dedicated it serving you guys 💕 For my haircare enthusiasts, I’ve created @hairgrowthlab to help grow your best hair so you feel beautiful on the inside and outside. For all my travel lovers and creatives, Toby and I are cooking up some magic with @bysa.app which makes editing your photos easier than ever ☺️ . For all the women in this community who are so strong and capable but struggle to see how powerful you really are, I’ve been writing a few pages of my book for you every single day to help you see what I see in you 💜 . I didn’t know it was possible for so much to change in a year. We can do so much when we choose to believe in ourselves. I hope you decide to do just that today 😊

And some seasons are for answering the phone, because your dreams are calling ☎️ . Every season serves a purpose, and we should embrace every single one. I’m preparing and progressing right now, and just enjoying the ride 😊Which season are you in? 💕
How I learned to love myself through growing my hair... . Growing up in a household that unmistakably favoured men over women, showing what is traditionally considered “girly” made me feel weak and vulnerable. I grew up wearing boys clothes and believing that being a woman and looking like one meant that I would be treated as less. It wasn’t until I discovered the internet in my early teens and saw images of women owning their femininity that I decided that I wanted to step into my femininity too. As a teenager hitting puberty, I was ready to rebel against my parents, and growing out my hair was how I thought I could achieve that. Little did I know, this hair growth journey would completely change my life and how I felt about myself. . Growing my hair in my teens taught me about the possibilities in life; if I set my mind to something, I can achieve it. It taught me responsibility; if I want something, I need to work hard in order to get it. It taught me about commitment and grit; to keep going and stay focused even when things get tough. And when I was lost and lonely as an adolescent, caring for my hair gave me joy and purpose. I felt beautiful on the inside, and I started to feel beautiful on the outside too. My hair became a fashion statement and confidence booster to me. Whenever I felt ugly, I would style my super long hair and instantly feel strong and beautiful. Additionally, the lifestyle changes I made for my hair also cleared up my skin and helped me to live a healthier life. As I started planning out the mission and lessons for my online haircare school @hairgrowthlab, I knew that my goal wasn’t only to help you grow your most beautiful hair yet. . My goal is to show you how incredible you are and what you are capable of. It’s about changing your hair and your life through education, self-care and investing in yourself. You’ll graduate feeling beautiful on the inside and the outside. This isn’t just a Hair Growth Lab, it’s a self growth lab too. The waitlist for the lab is now open 💜You can sign up via the link in my bio to get 20% off when registration opens ☺️ I can’t wait to see you there!
Are you choosing a life you love, or are you letting life choose you? Most of us wait for life to choose us. We wait for schools to choose us. We wait for companies to choose us. We wait for our managers to choose us. We wait for that cute guy to come up and choose us. When an opportunity arises for us to choose, we end up choosing the logical path that shields us from discomfort, not the path we actually want to choose. When we live our lives like this, we end up with a life that isn’t ours. We end up with a life where someone else has decided our destiny. It’s no wonder why so many of us start to slowly but steadily resent this life we didn’t choose. It feels empty because we sold our hopes and dreams in return for something easy. So what do you do when you start feeling this way? You must stand up and be brave. You must be daring and defiant. You must become the one that chooses. Are you choosing a life you love?
Why I stopped promoting haircare products... - If you’ve been following me since the beginning, you’ll know that I started this account creating hair content... and suddenly stopped. My haircare journey started as a poor high school student making homemade hair masks for less than $1 to becoming a haircare blogger and receiving endless amounts of products to try (including $500 shampoos and $1000+ salon treatments!) - It’s been 12 years and at this point in my haircare journey, I’ve experimented with affordable to luxury haircare, homemade to technologically advanced, popular to unpopular. I’ve also been lucky enough to personally coach 300+ women across many ethincities with different hair types and concerns on how to overcome their haircare issues to grow long and healthy hair. What did I learn from all of this? It turns out that growing long and healthy hair is not about how much we spend or what amazing product we are using. It’s almost entirely about HOW we use it. There is a lot of misinformation and marketing out there and we are wasting sooo much of our time and resources when we could much better results for less. - I made this mistake early on too. Many of us don’t understand what makes a good hair growth routine so we start applying products and practices that can be harmful to us and end up wasting a lot of time, money and hair fall 😞 The moment I realised this, I simply couldn’t promote haircare the same way I did, even if that meant sacrificing my job as a haircare blogger. Giving real value to you guys means so much more to me so I started a new mission that will give power back to us haircare enthusiasts. As part of this mission, I’ve been building Hair Growth Lab, an online haircare school where I'll teach you about what the haircare industry doesn’t want you to know 🤐 so you can learn what it really takes to grow your longest and healthiest hair while saving time and money on your haircare routine. . Filming the final lessons this week 😊 What are your biggest haircare concerns? Is there anything you would like to see in the courses? ❤️
Have you ever felt like day by day you’re not doing enough, but looking back, the rate of change is so fast that it seems unreal? ⠀ In 2019, I promised myself to take it easy on the things that have been causing me stress so I could come back and serve you guys better than I ever could. ⠀ This year I’ve put my health first and gained 6kg, going from a frail 37kg to a healthier 43kg in 7 months! Day by day, it looks like only a 100 grams here and there, but over 7 months, I've gained 16% of my body weight back and I’m not stopping yet💪 ⠀ At the beginning of the year, my hormones were out of whack which lead to a slew of other health issues that kept me in bed and depressed. I’ve built my life this year around trying to heal my body. Day by day, it felt like I was making sacrifice after sacrifice, but looking back on the last few months, my whole body, mental state and life have completely transformed. I feel stronger and more youthful than I did when I was 20! ⠀ I’m making progress on my book too, which is so heavy to write sometimes. Day by day, I question if I can even do this. But looking back on what I’ve created so far, I know it’s becoming a valuable resource for women like me, even if it’s uncomfortable to share these deep and dark parts of my life and my past. I feel so much purpose in doing it. ⠀ As writing the book full-time gets too intense, I’ve also been working on other fun and lighter things for you guys. Whether you’re here for self-love, haircare or travel — you’re all getting something! Keep your eyes peeled cos I have a mobile app and YouTube channel coming your way (fiiiinallly!)😄 ⠀ Day by day, I question if I’m letting you guys down by taking a break from social media. Looking back, I know that this break not only changed my life for the better, but it’s allowed me to work on things that will change your lives for the better too. My dream is to see you guys live your best lives where you are free financially, creatively, and filled with so much (self-)love, and I’ve been working on it day by day. Love you guys sooo much and I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been up to ☺️ ⠀ Now it’s your turn to update me! How are you doing lately? 💕
Who would you be if you were unapologetically you? - I feel so compelled to apologise for not posting in over 2 weeks but I won’t and I’ll tell you why. - If you’ve been following my journey, you’ll know that I’ve felt immensely conflicted with my work as an influencer and the shady stuff that goes on in the industry. Over time it became increasingly difficult to show up consistently and be a part of it. At the same time, I was afraid of hurting my relationships if I were to address it. - But then I was like screw it! Being honest with you guys is more important than any of this so I opened up about it. I ended up receiving thousands of messages from you guys in support of my decision to change paths. And to my surprise, I had hundreds of influencers and people I’ve worked with on the client side reaching out in support too. And not to my surprise, a whole lot of people unfollowed me. - Then it hit me: If some people dislike me for calling out poor influencer practices and I lose opportunities as a result, so be it. I don't want to work with those people and I’m not going to apologise for it. I’d rather support those that resonate with me so we can work towards genuinely empowering our audiences instead of exploiting numbers for personal gain. And on the other end, if some of you guys decide to unfollow me because I won’t be posting frequent travel content, then that’s ok too. I want to be more than that & I’m not going to apologise for it. The people who value courage, honesty, and continuous self-growth will stay and I have awesome stuff in the works for you guys ☺️ - If you’re trying to be someone else or following a path that isn’t true to you because it’s safe and it’ll give you the approval you think you need to be happy, I challenge you to stand up and be unapologetically you. To stop feeling guilty and explaining yourself for how you act, feel and look. To say what you want to say and stand up for what you believe in. To change paths, to quit that thing you hate, to take a break just because you need it. To stop comparing yourself with everyone else and just focus on creating the life you want to have. - Who would you be and what would you do?
It’s been almost 3 years since I last posted a selfie and introduced myself here are 6 facts about me: - 1️⃣ I’ve been doing this Instagram thing for almost 3 years. It started as a creative outlet to cope with my loneliness after moving to Germany and running into visa issues. I couldn’t apply for work or leave the county until it was resolved and I didn’t have good friends and felt so lonely. That season of unfortunate events turned out to be one of the best things to happen to me ⠀ 2️⃣ Being a travel influencer looks super fun but there is actually so much fakeness in the industry. After having a mental breakdown (or two), I’m grateful to be on a new journey of travelling without making it my job, and now focusing my time on building a sustainable business so I can live out my true purpose ⠀ 3️⃣ What’s that purpose you ask? Well, my father wanted me aborted when he found out I was female. Growing up like that was pretty painful. I’m glad my mother didn’t do it, because now I get to spend the rest of my life inspiring women to believe in themselves and showing them how valuable they are. Can’t wait to show you guys what I’ve been working on❤️ ⠀ 4️⃣ I studied IT and Business at university. I did it for my mother because she sacrificed everything so I could have the opportunity to study. I haven’t put that degree to any use but I heard my mother accidentally mistook it for an old rolled-up wall calendar and used it to kill a fly. Those years at university weren’t completely useless🙃 ⠀ 5️⃣ Toby and I are not #couplegoals or a #perfectcouple. Using these terms boxes people in and shuts others out, and mainly makes people feel inadequate in their own relationships. However, whats completely possible is to be in a relationship that’s composed of people who feel perfectly right about sharing their lives with each other, even during the hard times. We are proud to be in one that is perfect like that❤️ - 6️⃣ I currently live in Bali. I work online and like to discover new places as I create something special for you guys. Personal freedom and giving back to you guys are what I value most at this point in my life 💛 - What’s something you learned about yourself recently?
