Dragonfruit growing on the vine 🐉😍🙏🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I took this photo in north Bali in July when I was invited by my friend Gede to visit his village. I invited some friends to join me and Gede showed us around his village and the different fruit farms in the area. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It was so awesome to see the farms in the area and how they grow fruits there. There is something so special about being able to pick fruits perfectly ripened from the vine and connecting with the local Balinese was truly heartwarming. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you have fruit or permaculture farms in your area I highly encourage you to reach out and make an effort to connect with the local growers. Building community and making connections with people who grow fruits organically is such a rich experience. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Our society has become so disconnected from the food we eat and it’s so empowering for us to come together, build community, friendships and reconnect with Mother Nature 🙌🏼🌿🌴🌳🍉🍇🍑🍒🍎🍊🍋🥝 Giving gratitude for all the farmers and people who are intentionally connecting with their food and making choices that support local farmers and the environment. Have you visited local farmers in your area? Do you shop at farmers markets? 🙏🏼☺️🌈
Ocean Medicine 🌞🌊🏄🏼♂️💦 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Ocean has always been a big part of my life. I grew up in Cancun Mexico where I lived near the beach and swam in the ocean almost every day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Being in the sun, grounding with the Earth, playing with sand, running on the beach in the rain with friends, bodysurfing waves, floating and being held by the ocean... simply fully immersing myself in nature and the ocean’s playground. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whether I have felt joyful or sad, empowered or overwhelmed, the ocean has always been a powerful and positive influence and source of inspiration in my life, always supporting deeper alignment within. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I started surfing and windsurfing in Cancun as a kid and soon enough the entirety of my focus and passion revolved around the ocean. Windsurfing allowed me to connect with the elements of wind and water, merging two powerful forces in harmony, allowing me to fly and dance across the ocean’s waves. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ultimately, surfing and windsurfing have been tools that have helped me to further connect, play and be immersed in full presence with Mother Nature which in turn has supported me in further connecting with my True inner Nature. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am so grateful for the Ocean... For all that I have learned and the countless times I have been nurtured and nourished by her healing waters and sweet, peaceful embrace. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thank you. Thank you. Thank you 🙏🏽🌞🌊💦🌈 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What’s your favorite way to play, connect with the present moment and Nature? ☺️🙌🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Swipe to see some footage of me surfing at Echo beach yesterday. The last images are of me surfing and windsurfing on Maui, Hawaii. 🤙🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thank you for the photos and videos Vanessa 📸: @vanniyama ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Last photos taken by: @jimmie4art & @fishbowldiaries
Red cherimoya 😍🙏🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Throwback to my first time trying a red skinned cherimoya in north Bali 🙌🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Around mid July my friend Gede invited me to visit his home town to show me the local fruit farms in the area. I ended up inviting my friends Jared @jaredcordon and Sam @leavesandwanders to join in on the adventure 😃 and when we arrived at his home he began to show us different fruit trees he had growing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Then as we were talking about different fruits he told us he has this red skinned cherimoya tree that was fruiting! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To say we were excited is an understatement 😄🙏🏼 The tree had several perfectly tree ripened fruits ready to pick and we tried them right there and then... they were absolutely delicious! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Similar flavor to the common green skinned cherimoya, yet it definitely has a very unique undertone and nuance in its flavor profile. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Experiencing new fruit varieties is one of my favorite experiences. It’s like opening up a surprise present from Mother Nature that delights and nourishes our bodies 🙌🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What a gift 🎁🙏🏼☺️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thank you so much Gede for inviting me to your hometown, sharing your fruits with us and showing us around north Bali! I had a wonderful time and I’m so grateful 🙏🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have you tried a completely new variety or species of fruit recently? What was it? If you could try any fruit, which would you choose? ☀️💦🌈 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That papaya life 😍 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Did you know papaya is one of the fastest producing tropical fruit trees? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Meaning that from the moment the seeds are planted, papaya fruits can be harvested within 6 - 9 months whereas most other fruit trees take several years or more to start producing fruits. Also papayas produce fruits year round just like bananas do 🤙🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What’s interesting is that although the papaya is called a “tree”, it isn’t like a regular tree with a hard wood trunk but rather has a small and soft palm-like trunk. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have you tried papaya? What fruits in season are you loving right now? 😋
I took this photo on Friday when I was invited to Ubud by my friend Dewa to share durian with me. Durian season normally starts until later in the year yet surprisingly Durians are starting to drop. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hadn’t seen Dewa and his family in several months and it was so heartwarming to connect with him, his family and friends. Dewa sells Durian and I met him and became friends with him and his wife earlier this year during last Durian season. I am so grateful to have met and to have such a friendly connection with them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most of the Durians he had that day weren’t good yet a few we all shared were enjoyable. That being said what truly mattered to me was simply to reconnect with them, share smiles and laughs with each other and enjoy each other’s presence. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They barely speak any English and it’s a challenge communicating with each other verbally but what is truly beautiful is that despite not being able to communicate verbally much at all, we still connect through our expressions, body language and the heart. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Having different languages, cultural backgrounds and age doesn’t prevent us from being able to give and share love, kindness and joy with one another. The language of the Heart is so powerful and doesn’t require anything other than embodying, sharing and reflecting the Love that we are with those around us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ LOVE, this is what connects and unifies us all. We are all equals and a collective family on Earth despite our cultural differences. Let’s remember and embody this, choose Love in every moment, and allow the gentle guidance of our hearts to bring us together as one collective family. WE ARE ONE ❤️🙌🏼❤️ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📸: Swipe to see more photos and some videos including one of us laughing together 😄🙌🏼 and the last photo is when I was invited to their home several months ago 🙏🏼💛
Have you heard the saying “you are what you eat”? Well as you can see my fingers turned into bananas 😄😂😜 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ All jokes aside, isn’t this such a beautiful bunch of mini bananas? They were so delicious and perfectly ripe as you can tell by the spots “freckles” on the bananas. Growing up in Mexico, this was one of my favorite varieties of bananas that in Mexico are called “plátano dominico”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most people just know the popular “cavendish” banana yet in truth there are so many different varieties of banana and each one with truly unique flavors. One of my favorite varieties is the red banana. 😋 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A classic dish anyone can prepare is a banana ice cream that people generally call “nicecream”. It’s so awesome how we can make ice cream from a single fruit and it is so creamy and delicious! You can then combine the frozen bananas with just about any other fruit or flavoring and have a super delicious decadent meal. 🙏🏼😍 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What’s your favorite banana variety / meal? 🍌🍌⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍌 P.S. I recorded my first Instagram LIVE video today! It is available to be replayed for the next 20 hours or so by clicking my profile picture @masteringfreedom and clicking “Live video” 🙏🏼😃
