I’ve lost a bunch of followers over the last week, but frankly, I don’t give a shit. I’m in this movement for the long haul and hope that the rest of you are too ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 As I transition back to sharing regular content, please know I am more committed than ever to making a change and taking a stand. It’s not going to take one week. It’s not going to take one action. It’s going to take months and years of COMMITTING and DEDICATING ourselves to making change happen. That is the LEAST we owe after years and years of injustice and oppression. I am so ashamed to admit to myself how ignorant I was. I believed I lived in a country and a time where black people were not discriminated against like they once were. That a black man didn’t have to put a teddy bear in his cars backseat at night to avoid getting pulled over. That a black woman didn’t have to work twice (and more) as hard to get the same job and salary that a white woman could get. That everyone woke up each day with the same opportunities.. Because this is 2020, right?! I hate that it took all of this TRAGEDY to recognize my own ignorance - like a horse with blinders on. But I am sharing this with you today so I can commit to BEING BETTER and to push you to do the same. Get real with yourself and self-reflect on the beliefs that have been ingrained in you since birth. I am urging you today: don’t just do one thing on this list. Do ALL the things on this list. Today and forever. For as long as it takes until black, indigenous and people of color are truly, honestly, wholeheartedly seen as equals. I’ll be sharing how exactly I plan to tackle this and move forward both in my business and in my personal life. But I will CONTINUE to speak up and share on my platform because it is my duty to do so. Please share this if you feel like it might inspire someone or cause them to take action. #blacklivesmatter
Tonight I watched several videos of police abusing their weapons and their force against protestors and press. The fact that police brutality is STILL happening, when the police are currently UNDER CONSTANT SCRUTINY, just shows how much they know they can get away with when there are no cameras or people watching them. Am I referring to every single policeman or woman? No. But for a job that it supposed to protect and uphold the safety of their citizens, there shouldn’t be ANY. The system is broken. Where is the accountability. Where is the justice. Why are their actions above the law. And when is it going to change? It makes me sick and it makes me sad and it makes me even more empowered to make a difference in my life and the lives around me to fight it. GUYS. Keep talking about it. Keep learning. Keep supporting BIPOC and doing your duty as a human being to be BETTER. But as soon as someone starts to believes that a certain society or group of people are not equal to THEIR society and THEIR group of people… That they are ABOVE the law, above the RIGHTS of a certain society or a group of people… That they can mistreat, bully, attack, demoralize, or KILL a certain society or a group of people… We have no choice but to fight back. It’s sickening, it’s heartbreaking, and it’s time to take REAL action. What will you do? ✨ LOW BACK STRETCHES 🧘🏻♀️ ~ Share & save this stretch routine! ~ A TONNNN of your guys have been requesting more low back and hip mobility / stretch stuff (probably because we’re so stiff from being on a couch all day...) so here are my GO TO’s: 🚨Disclaimer🚨 If you have chronic low back pain - these stretches are not your answer!!!! They will give you relief if your back is tight from training, but I always suggest seeing a physio for any underlying issues. 👉🏼 It’s always shocking to me how many people live with daily pain and DON’T SEE A PROFESSIONAL 🤯 Here are some of my local recommendations for treatment: @foundationphysio @kinectivept @balancemotion (Vancouver) @kinect.rehab @totumlifescience With that said: take 15 minutes to get these stretches in today! ✨ LOW BACK STRETCHES 🧘🏻♀️ Forward Fold + Forward Fold to Side: keep your knees bent if you don’t have the necessary hamstring flexibility. Anchor your hands underneath your feet and pull up and away from the floor gently. Active Cat Cow: perform a regular cat cow but rocking forward and back as you round your spine. Actively drive the floor away from your hands, trying to release tension from your back. Childs Pose + Child’s Pose to Side: sit back on your heels and stretch your arms out in front if you as far as you can. Drive your palms in the ground and feel for a stretch down your sides. Walk your right hand over to the left and anchor it down underneath the left hand. Lean into your right hip and feel for a stretch down your right lat. Repeat on the opposite side Roll Back & Release: time to get freaky 😏 Roll your feet back behind your head and feel for a stretch in your lower back. Slowly bring your feet back over your head, letting each vertebrae touch the ground one by one. Repeat as many times as needed. Laying Twist: lay on your back and bring your left knee to your chest. Pull your leg across your body and extend your arms out straight. If this is too intense, support your top leg with a roller. Repeat on the opposite side. Standing Reach: stand with your legs wide. Reach up and lean to the side, bringing your chest slightly towards the ground.

Ahh! We’ve been so excited to get our sailboat back in the water and marinas have finally given the green light to launch! Adam and I have been working hard to get her ready for summer - He’s been sanding the bottom, repainting the hull, fixing the fibreglass, and getting rid of mold.
