rainy little drive back through the Cordillera Blanca at golden hour 🌅 just another casual day in Perú 🇵🇪
Unreal 👌🏽 and we just gettin started 🏔
been dreaming of coming back to Peru just for Huaraz. Worth the wait 🤙🏽 can’t wait to keep exploring this unreal region 🏔
one more dreamy ocean sunset before we dive into a month of mountain posts 🌊🏔
the calm before the storm 🤙🏽 a week of sunsets, surf, and ceviche before the upcoming weeks of some hardcore trekking 🏔 Huanchaco was the perfect lil stop, considered by some to be the birthplace of surfing thanks to these reed boats that the local fishermen have been using for thousands of years. New and old side by side 🌊
deep in Quechua country 👌🏽 last time I was in Peru I’d take a selfie with an alpaca and call it good on cultural immersion for the day 🤦🏽♀️ fun fact: the big hats that I thought were super cool and super traditional actually only became common after the British brought them over in the 1920s. the more you know 🤷🏽♀️
📍 Cajamarca, Peru. Was pretty clueless about this place heading in since it doesn’t really seem to be on the map for most international travelers coming to Peru but it turned out be a mad dope city where I could geek out for a few days on some Inca history and ruins that totally weren’t built by aliens 👽 unreal landscapes, ancient ruins, much more intense cultural immersion and fat <$2 meals, really diggin’ northern Peru so far and we just getting starteddd 🤙🏽
yeehaw 🤠 getting some adventures off in northern Peru. Third time traveling through Peru but first time exploring the northern half of the country and it feels like another planet altogether 🔥
nature crazy yo. how do I even try to squeeze in 2,529 feet of waterfall into one pic. Easily the most epic shower I’ve ever had 💦
a couple of drive by shots from the 2-day journey from Vilcabamba, Ecuador To Chachapoyas, Peru 🇵🇪 Woke up at 5 AM to hitch a ride with a complete stranger 2.5x my age in the back of his converted Austrian Army communications vehicle (Ted Bundy would’ve loved me) but hey everything turned out a-okay. First couple of pics are from the slooow drive through Ecuador’s mountains as the sun was rising. 4th pic was from a weird stretch of Peru that reminded me so much of the motherland 🇵🇭 5th pic is the Ecuador-Peru border-crossing-less-traveled-by AAAAND pic numero 6 is THE WHIP ITSELF 🚌 such a rad adventure 🤙🏽
Ecuador highlight photo dump bc I suck at posting regularly so I’ll make up for it with not 1 not 2 not 3 but NINE pictures at once!! Save this shit for when you get your ass to Ecuador 🇪🇨 1. Laguna del Quilotoa - I mean look at this shit it’s a fkn lake inside a volcano 2. Cotopaxi - I thought I was gonna die here and i still recommend it so that should say enough 3. Chugchilan - fam I can’t describe how happy I was playing farmer for a few days in the mountains 4. Baños - hiker’s paradise. And the world’s dopest swing 5. Manta - the only place on the coast where you can properly treatyo’self to the yacht parties you deserve 6. Parque Nacional el Cajas - this is my swamp - shrek and also me at Cajas 7. Cuenca - do I need to mention that Doña Elsita Cardenas is my queen yet again 8. Vilcabamba - bro i cried tears of joy while riding my horse here 9. Quito - more like neato badumtss (lizzie mcguire you are a caption repeater)
goin’ with the flow 💧 didn’t know much about Ecuador when I flew down fully intending for it to be just a quick stop en route to Peru. Maybe I’m just too lazy to actually ever plan anything out but 43 days and endless detours later... I’m finally out after seeing way way waayyy more of this incredible country than I ever expected✌🏽 it’s about the journey y’all 🤷🏽♀️🚗 📸: @melvintracam
