Today has been a wonderful day; my heart is so full. I spent the day in the studio collaborating with people who really affirmed me as an artist and I am so so so grateful. Also, my judged award for "Best Overall Act" at 2020's #SondekaAwards is now home and I couldn't be happier. Thank you so much @creativesgarage and the whole @_sondeka_ team. I really do not take this for granted, I am forever grateful. Today I sleep feeling pretty good about who I am 😊😊 .. .. COLLABORATION!! .. .. For my album 'KUWE' I wrote all the songs, sang 99.99% of the vocals and used the same producer for all the tracks. I like it that way. When there's a formula and it works, why change it? But one thing was sure, I knew that for my next project(s) I was looking to collaborate; with writers, producers (with @mutoriah still being my guy hehe), vocalists and all kinds of creatives and so I've been trying. .. .. So far, it's quite hard I tell yah! For someone who already struggles with imposter syndrome, collaborations even in the smallest way makes me feel so inadequate and so insecure. This is because I know for sure that there are people who are really good, which in turn makes me feel like I am doing nothing and I what I create is so basic. .. .. But I am glad that the few people (it's only 1 🤣🤣) I have been consulting so far are honest with me. When what I've written is not that great, I have to face it and try write better or sing better. So I am currently trying to fight through the intense feeling of inadequacy, trying to remember that I am actually dope and I have something to bring to the table. Hi, how are you doing? I know it's been close to 4 months since the covid situation started and I know it's been tough; so how are you doing? .. .. As for me, it's been quite the rollercoaster. Having to let go of my longtime dream of an album launch concert has been hard. Spending time with myself and having to deal with every emotion that comes up is brutal and beautiful all at the same time. I have been equally angry and amazed by God, I have laughed and cried in equal measure and it has been a tortuous and beautiful couple of weeks all at the same time; I somehow feel like a woman now; I feel grown. Since March, I lost my guitarist and my grandfather, I released my album, gained some kilos, let go of some plans I had, worked out, baked, cooked, gained even more kilos, won an award, laughed with my mother, journaled, watched movies, tried reading, listened to podcasts and so much more. . . This is a weird season, I don't know if I could do it again and what kind of strength I need to keep going but I'm somehow grateful for it all and hopeful about who I am when everything else is taken away. I am in a good place. .. How are you?
