// finding it crucial to cling to happy moments & good news in 2020, and helping my friend @katemurtaugh announce her beautiful growing family with these precious jean jackets definitely sparked joy! 💫 • 📷 beautifully captured by @stephanievegliante
Repeat after me please, it’s OKAY to take a break! 🌈 What?! Like you’ve never taken multiple months off from insta posting before? 🤷🏻♀️ The truth is, back in June, this platform was feeling a lot like the state of our world for me... heavy. I found myself comparing my work, trying to keep up with the Joneses, losing my originality & confidence, and just feeling overall weighed down by my time on this little app of squares that I once enjoyed so much. Posting on here started to feel like a chore I had to complete, and that felt like a red flag to me. Throw in the fact that we were (still are) in the middle of navigating a global pandemic, an incredibly crucial social justice movement, the upcoming divisive election and so much more, and YEP, I just needed a little breather. I felt like my time was better spent putting some TLC into my baby, Pretty in Ink Shop, my family, myself, and focusing my energy into ways I could create real change in the real world and off of Instagram. Moral of the story - social media can be an amazingly powerful tool, but it can also be something much darker - if you haven’t watch The Social Dilemma on Netflix yet, I encourage it! It will definitely make you check yourself. 👍🏼 •• So that’s that! Here we are almost 4 months later and I feel refreshed & ready to get back to focusing on my work & what I once loved about this app - sharing it with you all near & far! If you’re feeling bogged down by Instagram & the world, I encourage you to take a step back, even if only for a few days. We have to take care of ourselves right now & I’m so grateful to you for sticking by me while I did just that this summer! 💓
// when I first released this new sticker design on May 29th, I knew I loved the message but I had absolutely NO idea that throughout the days & weeks that followed, these words would become a personal mantra of sorts to me & I hope you all feel the same. 💓 it’s been a bit quiet around here as I’ve been doing a lot of behind the scenes work - I personally believe that the really important stuff happens off of social media - but as I begin to pick things back up, let’s all remember that in order for real noticeable change to occur, we need to keep on blooming and bettering and learning and listening and conversing and evolving together! 🌸🌿
// muted, but not staying silent 🖤 rather than sharing my artwork on my feed this week, I’ll personally be: listening, unlearning, learning, reading, researching, donating, signing, taking action, reflecting, having the hard conversations, hoping, and putting in the work to become a better ally. I am committed to being a part of the solution, because Black lives matter, period. • throughout the week in my stories, I’ll be highlighting the work of Black female artists & small businesses owners - and I hope you’ll be inspired to check them out for yourself. Go listen to THEIR voices & stories, admire their creations, absorb their art, bring their work into your home, support them. It’s such a small action, but I believe that together we can create a ripple effect that will make waves. • I’d also LOVE if you’d share your favorites with me in the comments below👇🏼 so I can work to discover new pages, diversify my feed, share their work, shine a spotlight, and support them. • #blackouttuesday #amplifymelanatedvoices
// // NEW CUTE STICKERS ALERT! 👀‼️can you spot them?! I’m psyched to report that these are now shoppable in my @etsy shop - link in bio! They feel like a perfect addition to the Pretty in Ink sticker bunch & thankfully the other 5 stickers have really welcomed them to the fam with open arms - you just never know with siblings! 💓 SWIPE to get a better look at them, I hope you love them as much as I do! 🌿🌸 • • In addition to these✌🏼new designs, I’ve also added a listing to purchase the entire sticker collection - one of each of all the 7 designs - & also a highly requested listing to build your own custom pack of 3 or 5 stickers! 🤗 Happy Friday & happy shopping, my loves!
// nothing too fancy, just beautiful & meaningful words on clean white paper 💖 I love this custom piece that was commissioned by an old friend of mine! ✨ if you’ve ever got something in mind, let me help you bring it to life!
// seeing my hello tags in baby announcement posts is special enough but then throw in the fact that this little nugget is part of my family & I’m a puddle of mush on the floor! 💕 congrats to my cousin & his incredible wife on making a perfect child & giving us all the lighthearted content we need right now! 🙌🏼
// we all need somebody to lean on 🎶 am I right?! We are all in this together, not just as a country, but as an entire world. And I don’t think there’s ever been a time like this when it’s truly the little things that bring joy in uncertainty! So help me spread some of that good stuff - tag someone below who you’re leaning on during this, someone who you want to send a little love to, someone who is an essential worker aka hero right now, or just someone who you would give a giant bear hug to right now if you could!👇🏼🖤
// on a scale of 1 to @inagarten - what type of quarantine chef are you? 👩🏻🍳 I’m not quite an Ina yet, but I am finding the silver lining in this extra time at home & enjoying trying ALL the new recipes! 👏🏼 also, since 2020 is all about that homebody life, can we make hand lettered aprons the new thing?! I’m thinking about adding these to my shop, comment below & let me know what you think + tell me your fav foodie accounts to follow! 🍽❤️
// this past week - I celebrated my 31st bday in quarantine 💓 for a girl whose love language is quality time, being sheltered at home with my husband & pup is just heaven! There were tons of card & some flowers sent, a cookie cake delivery surprise, FaceTime happy hour with my siblings, a homemade dinner & plenty of wine. 🎉 these crazy times have made me realize, how our lives feel is much more important than how our lives look 👏🏼 take care of yourselves & hang in there, friends! // 📷 & major smiles thanks to my friend @jenniwithaneyephoto
// a message I think we ALL need right now 🌈 my natural response to challenging times has always been to try and spread positivity & some light when it’s most needed, and I’ve been trying to think of how I can do that while we’re all hunkered down - this is what I came up with! Starting today through the end of March, all orders placed in my shop will include 2 of my bestseller rainbow stickers seen above for free - one of them will be sent along with your order, the other I will mail to the lucky recipient of your choice to hopefully brighten their day with some snail mail! Whether it’s a loved one in a nursing home who isn’t allowed visitors, a mom doing her best at home with her stir crazy kids, or someone who is stuck at home all alone - I’ll let them know you’re thinking of them! 💌 just place your order, let me know in the notes to seller who you’d like the 2nd sticker sent to, and I’ll take it from there! 👏🏼 we’re all in this together, let’s spread some rainbows!
// little bebe burrito + a custom name tag announcement - does it get any sweeter than this? 👶🏻💗
