Money canāt buy happiness, but it can buy... textbooks, childcare, after school enrichment, teachers, social workers, PPE, healthcare, medicine, therapy, food, shelter, and way too many other things outside of these fundamentals that could get us a little closer to a level playing field. #DefundThePolice doesnāt mean disband the department. It means fund black and underserved communities, elevate oppressed people with the same tools and resources privilege provides, and it also means to reimagine community where instead of calling 9-1-1 on your neighbor we rely on and support each other. NYers - Our state budget deadline is June 30th. Call, email, DM your legislators and demand change. They are meant to represent us, so letās make it really hard for them not to listen. #BlackLivesMatter

Never seen anyone jump rope in ten inch heels before - on NYC pavement nonetheless. @queenglowjob dam girl. Thank you for organizing tonight @badgurlpari & @oliver_herface. Itās important dialogue for us all to participate in, exciting to support so many NYC artists and Black Trans organizations, and I also had a lot of fun perforating raffle tickets with your boo. #BlackLivesMatter #TransLivesMatter

Juneteenth is commonly mistaken as the day in which slavery was abolished in the U.S., but the Emancipation Proclamation freed slaves formally 2.5 years earlier and Confederate states had been defeated in the Civil War two months earlier. #Juneteenth is the day after a Union General with 2,000 federal troops arrived in Texas to occupy and enforce orders to free black slaves. Texasās significance in this history is the amassed amount of planters and other slaveholders who had migrated into Texas from eastern states to escape the fighting. Many of whom had brought enslaved people with them, increasing by the thousands the enslaved population in the state at the end of the Civil War. By 1865, when the proclamation was enforced, there were an estimated 250,000 enslaved people in Texas. One hundred and fifty-five years later, today in America land of the free home of the brave, there are 2.3 million black people incarcerated. #BlackLivesMatter

It doesnāt matter that weāre here peacefully. Some protesters strum guitars, drum, dance, many march with their children, even some pups are out every day with signs of their own. It doesnāt matter - also here every day are the police often in riot gear, in numbers on foot, cars with flashers perpetually on, vans, helicopters who follow for hours. I went to a small picnic vigil on Friday, and there were multiple cop cars, a full sized bus of police, and a huge helicopter overhead. It was a picnic. For every police officer out here tonight, how many children in New York City could receive state-provided textbooks? After school and summer enrichment programs? How many full-time counseling and social work professionals could we afford to put in schools? Defunding the police seems so radical until you realize weāve been defunding education for years. #DefundThePolice

Today in America, there are 2.3 MILLION BLACK PEOPLE INCARCERATED. Among those, over 150,000 held in jails are not convicted of any crime. Yet median bail in this country is $10,000. Who are they protecting? #EndMassIncarceration #DefundThePolice

Lean into the uncomfortable conversations, our own unaddressed ignorances, and any other new territory that we as non-black people have fearfully, regretfully, shamefully shyed away from before. Black lives matter far more. The onus of starting and continuing these conversations cannot fall solely on black friends, family, and communities. Itās also more than time for unprecedented shifts in policy. Here are 4 actions we need to demand of from Bill de Blasio, Cuomo, and our NYC councilmen and women. #TheTakeBack 1. @NYPDshea and @nycMayor MUST hold officers accountable for their actions--not only when they murder Black people, but when they disproportionately target them for arrests in subways, and when they prey on Black and brown communities with racist programs like Broken Windows. 2. #NYC MUST cut the NYPD budget & redirect all funds to safety nets & key needs for Black and Brown communities, including immediately reinstating the Summer Youth Employment Program, CUNY ASAP (Accelerated Study in Associate Programs) and fully funding K-12 education. #DefundThePolice 3. Governor Cuomo and the New York State Legislature must #Repeal50A, the Police Secrecy Law. The state and city of New York must endorse police transparency and accountability at all levels of law enforcement. 4. @nycmayor MUST work with the @nyccoucil to pass and sign into law the Anti-Chokehold Bill, to criminalize the illicit NYPD practice. We are also calling on the New York State legislature to pass the statewide Anti-Chokehold Bill, and the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the federal Anti-Chokehold Bill. @nygovcuomo

I am mad. I am emotional. I canāt stop crying. But this is obviously not about me and my voice. @mynameispenelope shared this that I wanted to share with you: āThe other day Stephen and I were sitting out on our stoop with Zadie enjoying some of the nice weather. My landlord, who is also black, joined us out front with her youngest daughter and husband to also get some fresh air. - My landlord handed her daughter some chalk and told her to go draw out front. This is what she drew. On her on volition. She is SEVEN years old. When Stephen pointed out what she had drawn, it broke my heart. It broke my heart that an innocent, seven year old black girl already feels the weight of the world that we live in. Iāve seen her joy as she learned how to ride a bike without training wheels. Iāve watched her happily skip down the city blocks with her dad not too far behind. And Iāve gone to her most recent birthday party and watched her turn into a rockstar for the evening. And Iāve seen her realize that Black Lives donāt always matter to some. - I pray that for the sake of the future generations, for Zadie, for KG, that our society becomes a better place. And that Black Lives Matter doesnāt need to be said, but is inherently understood by all. - Now as the adults, letās go out and make sure that this becomes a reality. #blacklivesmatterā Thank you @mynameispenelope for letting me share here and teaching me to be a better ally. Iām committed to educating myself, my family and loved ones, and maintaining that focus as one that is everyday and continuous.

Early AM standup paddle boarding every day, snorkeling and yoga in between, ukulele on the beach, and $2 buckets at the driving range. A little different routine than Mondays in Manhattan.

First rule to enjoy paddle boarding: fall, a lot.

Two months left in this decade. What bad decisions do I have time to squeeze in?

The Raiders are moving to Vegas soon; am I still a fan? What will happen to Raider Nation in Oaktown?? Am I a 49ers fan now? Am I allowed to like both?? Also, I went to Colombia.

A zoomed in, close up view of an extraordinary life is just an ordinary Wednesday, and I feel so lucky to have such good people to spend my ordinary Wednesdays with. @laurenmonte youāre a beautiful human, who I respect, admire, and adore. Nickās a lucky dude, so cheers to your engagement and all the future nights he may be mad at me for when you show up home a little drunkypoo from some happy hour shenanigans. :) #inthenickoftime
