Photo @ajtravel #NatureKyrgyzstan I miss those endless fields where the wild horses roam around free 💕 how I miss these moments in #kyrgyzstan can’t wait to go back !
Photo @tristanbogaard #NatureKyrgyzstan One of Kyrgyzstan’s many rivers from the sky. This country contains around 8000 glaciers, thousands or streams and rivers that nurture the land below - but there’s a problem. Unfortunately, our addiction to plastic is worldwide, and the Kyrgyz people don’t seem to realize the chaos this material can cause when thrown into the natural environment - of which Kyrgyzstan has a lot. Because there’s no trash collection system, or recycling facilities, it all flows downstream, sits in the ground or worse, is incinerated. The result? This country is now riddled with (plastic) waste, that is not decomposing and can be found anywhere you look. With its incredibly rich ecosystem this is such a huge pity! I feel as if it’s my personal mission to share the awareness here with you. Under-education on the manner is probably the biggest contributor, as nobody willingly wants to clog the waterways and land on which so many species rely as a source of food / place to live etc. Recycling infrastructure, nowadays, is quickly realized (even on private scale like @realpreciousplastic ) and with government backing Kyrgyzstan has a real chance of fixing the issue before it goes out of control. What can you do to help? When you go to Kyrgyzstan (or anywhere in Central Asia), teach the locals by showing that you should pick up your trash instead of leaving it in nature. Talk about the importance of protection and conservation. Bring a good filter so you can refill your bottle from a tap (if you can find one). And most importantly, stay positive and show people that it’s pretty cool to do things differently. After all, we all come to see their beautiful country — so the least we can do is share the responsibility to keep it beautiful. #conservation #preciousplastic
#NatureKyrgyzstan It's nice up here. I like it. It suits me just fine. Photo @justin.bill
#NatureKyrgyzstan It wasn't a good start to the day, with the heavy rain and cold temperatures we were told our chances to see peak Eltcin was slim ,but we carried on and waited and for the 30 minutes the rain stopped the glorious peaks appeared giving us such a beautiful and unforgettable view. #NatureKyrgyzstan View from the top of Traveller's Pass, en route to Lenin Peak C1. Photo @jacoblab1 While making an attempt to go to Lenin's summit is definitely not for everyone, a short visit to either BC or C1 totally is. BC is set in a gorgeous alpine meadow at 3,600 meters above sea level. Here, you can stay in a yurt, try riding a horse, and go on a ton of different day hikes for amazing views. And you can get here by road! C1 is in a much different environment - it's actually set right on top of a glacier at 4,400 meters. Getting here from camp one isn't too difficult if you're carrying a light bag. Expect about 5-6 hours of hiking. If Kyrgyzstan is in your future travel plans (if it isn't, it totally should be), then be sure to make it out to Lenin Peak. The Pamir mountains in southern Kyrgyzstan are unreal. #kyrgyzstan #mountaineering #silkroad #mountains #travellife #nature #kyrgyz #backpacker #everydayasia #centralasia #guardiantravelsnaps #kyrgyznomad #beautifuldestinations #hiking #trekking #escape #camping #camp #basecamp

#NatureKyrgyzstan It was hard. It was hard to see. At its 3500 metres high, lake Ala-Kul, one of Kyrgyzstan most iconic spots, proved how wild and unpredictable weather and nature can be in this country. Three days before this picture there was barely any snow in the surroundings of the lake. Three days later the sun had to struggle to make its way through fog, clouds and storms to reveal the lake with half a meter of snow makeup. What a country! .
