If you’re like me you have been stirred by the tragic events in the US and begun to think more deeply about what you can do about issues at home. Issues that of course have been with us for a long, long time. I know it’s not my place to speak with any authority. I don’t have extensive expertise nor a moral high ground, nor a horse that’s high. It’s simply me standing up and saying; I care, I want to do better, and I’d like to play my role in the world and our country evolving to a better place. And I believe that is through listening, reading and learning. Because at the core of this, if you’re like me, you want to support a world (starting with our own country) that has respect, dignity, fairness, compassion, love, and equality for all human beings at it’s core. A country that doesn’t just tolerate it’s First Nations Peoples, one that celebrates them. Gives them a legitimate voice. Truthfully teaches our kids about the crimes of the past (and present) and also teaches them about the rich indigenous culture every Australian should be proud of. So to contribute in a small way, and because this is the end of Reconciliation Week here in Australia, I’ve put the Uluru Statement From The Heart above. Perhaps you have read it, which is great. But maybe you haven’t yet. And maybe you will now and that’s awesome. They’re powerful words. They make you think. I get that this is just one post. But this is something that’s timely, you can read completely in one post, and one post is better than no posts. There’s obviously so much more listening, reading and learning to be done, you don’t have to look far for it if you’re interested. If you’re like me, you’ll be trying.

Thank you so much to those who watched LEGO Masters and the lovely messages people have sent. We just have so much fun making this show, to the point you could possibly argue we get a bit carried away. Like this bit that never made it to air where I pretended to be contestant Alex and tried to talk up how terrific the host was. A great example that lots of stuff doesn’t make it to air for good reason! But the stuff that DOES make it to air, is because of a truly amazing bunch of people. We have a ferociously talented crew behind the scenes led by D Mac (second photo), brilliant camera department led by a wonderful director (third photo) and unflinchingly professional make up and wardrobe (fourth). At the end of the day it’s a show about creating things. It’s a real honour to get to make it, and it’s even more of an honour to see that it sparks people to go and make stuff of their own. A special congratulations to not just our winners (no spoilers) but ALL our contestants, you guys were total legends. I’ve got a lot of great memories from this season, and also a free wig. 🙏 💛

While we were making LEGO masters this year I wanted to build Eve, from Wall-E the movie, as a surprise for my wife. It was one of the first movies we saw and it’s really special to us. It’s pretty hard to build Eve BUT, if I pulled it off, I would be a hero. I made Wall-E (you can buy the kit, photo 2) then set about making Eve. After a few weeks stealing lots of parts from the Brick Pit on the show, I was ready to try and get her going. Wow. It was so hard. But I was determined to not let my wife down. I tried and tried and was ABOUT to give up but then, one day, I discovered the secret of getting past my block. I found out what was holding me back. It was my skill. So I just asked @mcnaught.ryan. With me out of the picture the project took off! He made what you see above in about an hour! It’s like I tell kids, what you can make out of LEGO is only limited by what your imagination can think of to ask Brickman to build. Thanks mate! Second last ep on now (if you’re reading this over my shoulder) finale tomorrow!

We’re back baby! After the flaming (literally) hot fun we had a few weeks ago doing our cook-a-long cook-in we are going again. The principle remains the same: buy the ingredients on the list (the other slides, above), tell your special someone to go wait in the other room on Thursday night, join here on my Instagram Live at the appropriate time with your ingredients ready to go and Ben will work his kitchen magic and I will make you feel better about your effort as I try to keep up. One hour later, your special someone gets an amazing meal. Let us (Ben) make you look like an amazing chef! This time we’re doing a Trans Tasman theme. Because Ben is Kiwi and I’m Aussie, and also because we thought it would be fun to have people cooking in both countries at once and also, if/when the “travel bubble” opens our countries are going to be first to unite. So let’s strengthen those bonds! The menu is HARDCORE Aussie/Kiwi. It’s going to be Fancy Fish and Chips with a vegemite sauce (I trust Ben) with a “1 hr hot pavlova” for dessert which Ben says has never been done (again, I trust Ben). Holy shit! Be a cooking hero for your partner! Break a pavlova record! Join us! Let’s see which country has more participants. Who can TRULY claim ownership over Fish n Chips and Pav. @jacindaardern you are worth 2 points if you join 🙂 Can’t wait. These are so fun. See you Thursday! PS you will need a blowtorch. Not a joke 😎

Our total babe hero mum. Whether quietly thinking of a million things that keep our family running (pictured), or being the most brilliant woman I know (pictured), or just being a total 15/10 smoke show (pictured) or just holding our daughter while you both think about cake (pictured), I never don’t feel like the luckiest man on earth to have a front row seat to your mumming. ❤️

🍰 Cake Time! 🍰 It’s that time of year again where I pledge to my son I will make whatever birthday cake his heart desires using only determination and blind optimism! (And cake). This year it’s a classic, the Cave Of Wonders from Aladdin, you know, the cave he goes into to get the lamp (you know). The mouth glows. The eyes glow. Sonny has asked this faithfully be recreated. I have a little idea brewing involving a very powerful torch I own for when I frequently go camping, so I’m getting pumped. I will be caking SAT NIGHT on my stories, feel free to swing by for the journey. It’s ok if you’re late though, last year I got sidetracked watching The Life Aquatic and kick off was delayed 2 hours. I’m gonna give it my best Sonny Boy!! #BlakeItTillYouCakeIt
