HOW TO DO LISS CARDIO AT HOME I recently shared that I was lucky to bring home a treadmill from my gym. This sparked a lot of questions as to how others could get their usual cardio fix in when they’re not allowed to walk the streets or parks. (Different countries have different restrictions) A few options I have been suggesting are: 1. if you live in a tall building (3+ stories) see if you’re able to walk the fire escape stairs and set yourself a goal to hit 2. If you own a bike, see if you can elevate the rear wheel just enough so you can ride on the spot. (I’ve seen people do this) 3. Using a low step, continuously step up with both feet and down with both feet, changing which foot you step up and down with to evenly train. 4. Skipping. WARM CHILLI KALE CHIPS This is a fantastic nutrient-dense snack, loaded with powerful antioxidants, vitamin C and vitamin K. INGREDIENTS •fresh kale •chilli flakes •spray olive oil •salt & pepper METHOD •turn the oven on fan-forced 160-180 degrees celsius •cut the kale leaves off the centre stem of the leaf •wash your kale in cold water and pat dry with some paper towel •evenly lay the kale out on a tray lined with baking paper (they need space to evenly cook) •spray olive oil over the kale, sprinkle chilli flakes & season (can add garlic salt for flavour) •pop into the oven for 10-15mins *each over will be slightly different, watch them carefully and rotate or toss them if needed. This is such a fantastic guilt-free snack.

Adjusting to self-isolation Staying at home is vital, it's simple, it's effective, but it’s also going to have some teething issues. One topic I want to touch on is: “SNACKING” I have been getting the boys (look Swayde just eats the ingredients) involved in the kitchen. (SWIPE ACROSS) I’ve also been eating their cooking and snacking way more than usual. I’m not on the go like I was, the kitchen is at arms reach & I’m sitting down a lot more. Who is feeling the same? Here are some helpful tips I have written down to implement in my days to ensure I don’t subconsciously keep snacking. 1. Set alarms for mealtimes. A big issue is not eating my main meals when I usually would, because I’m not in my usual routine. 2. Set a goal with drinking water. 2-3lts is what I am aiming to have each day. 3. Always have cut-up veggie sticks & a variety of fruit in your fridge at all times for snacking 4. I am making protein shakes (with water and ice) and EAA supplement drinks which have a really refreshing sweet taste. 5. Don’t buy foods you don’t need at the shops. If you ’meal plan’, you will only buy what you need and nothing more. Panic buying of food isn’t necessary nor is it helping. 6. Choose one home chore, you would like done per day. Some chores may take a few days to complete. This will get you moving, keep you feeling productive & motivate you to make this a habit. Share below how you are going with self-isolation and snacking.
