Last week in Sakaraland, we celebrated an incredible milestone: the launch of our NEW Sakara Science Council! The Sakara Science Council embodies our highest vision of research and spirit in service of a greater purpose. What a wonderful world. Let’s care for it the way it cares for us. 🌏 In the words of Stephanie Seneff: “[My mission is] to make sure that the next generation is healthy enough to move us forward. To keep the earth sacred and healthy itself. To maintain a healthy environment—and healthy human beings, so that we can be productive and that our children and our grandchildren can be productive when they grow up, and take over where we've left off.” Listen to the new episode of the Sakara Life Podcast – The Impacts of Glyphosate with Stephanie Seneff – at the link in bio.

Dr. Joe Dispenza always says “your personality creates your personal reality”, and it has me thinking about how what we eat contributes to our personalities– and therefore our personal realities.  It’s so easy to find ourselves in the same rut, eating the same things every week. The problem with that is not only are you limiting your nutrition intake to the same profiles each week, but also limiting yourself to the same reality— the same habits, thoughts, and feelings. We know that if we want change to happen in our lives, we can’t continue to do the same things everyday.  What if each trip to the grocery store actually was an opportunity to change our futures?  It’s the perfect place to start practicing change. To start practicing breaking free from your comfort zone — just by trying something new.  What is an ingredient you’ve never tried before? Or never even heard of before? What new neural pathways will be created coming up with a new recipe or way to use the ingredient? What new tastebuds will be stimulated in tasting it and new olfactory memories made in smelling the new aroma? By changing our habits we can expand our reality.  My challenge for you is to try something new this week. You might just be surprised by the person you become when you start adventuring on your plate.  What's the most adventurous food you’ve ever tried? 👇

What you may not know about hydration: drinking water alone is not enough – you also have to EAT your water. I was the test case for the "eat your water" philosophy. As skincare visionary and board-certified dermatologist @drhowardmurad of #muradskincare explains, “An ounce of a [water-rich] fruit or vegetable is almost an ounce of water. The water is in the structure of the fruit/vegetable, and is gradually released instead of going right through you. The trapped phytonutrients and antioxidants make your body alkaline, and balance your immune system, along with many other benefits.”  Even though I used to call myself a vegetarian, I wasn’t necessarily eating a diet with lots of vegetables. Instead I was eating shelf-stable foods like organic crackers, trail mix, snack bars, and peanut butter. My main vegetable was the avocado that I typically put on sprouted, whole-grain toast. These foods, considered by many to be ‘healthy,’ were super dehydrating to my system. This contributed to toxic buildup, which triggered system-wide inflammation, and the effects of this internal dehydration were visible all over my face.  Once I stopped relying on these dehydrating "health foods" and focused more on water-rich produce, my digestion began to improve and my skin started to be less inflamed, and began to plump up and glow. The slow-release of the water, trapped in a web of nutrients and fiber, allows for the cells and organs to fully absorb it, instead of it running straight through your system. Foods and supplements that I take daily to keep my skin glowing and my metabolism functioning include:  >Produce with high water content like cucumbers, berries, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, and melons. > @sakaralife Beauty Water Drops, which help balance the electrolyte to water ratio in and out of the cell structures to keep you hydrated for longer periods of time.

Emotions ahead. Parenting isn’t easy. I truly want to give him the world. And those moments when he’s unhappy hurt so much. Allowing our kids to feel a whole range of emotions, and not trying to fix things for them or distract, allows them to learn how to handle those other emotions. To learn what it means to be resilient. And cultivate their own intuition.  My sister often reminds me that we aren’t raising children, we’re raising adults.  This topic of boundary-setting is a difficult one... My goal is not to be perfect, or to get it right. My goal is to lean in as much as I can and sit through these moments with him when the feelings hit hard. So that when life actually becomes hard in the future (because if these last 2 years have shown us anything, it’s that life WILL get hard), then he has the tools inside of him to recognize and move through those emotions. My goal is to teach him about how to make it through life, and not shield him from it. “Holding a firm boundary goes hand in hand with having empathy. Don't take on the feeling, just witness it. Stay curious.” - @drbeckyatgoodinside Listen to this week’s episode of the Sakara Life Podcast — The Art of Conscious Parenting — at the link in bio.

I talk a lot about my skin journey and how I was able to heal my skin from the inside out after years of struggling with cystic acne. Before I healed, that decade of focusing on my skin from the outside, certainly turned me into a beauty junky. I have some loyal favorites but I’m always trying new things. Here’s what’s currently in my shower. ➡️  • @goop Goopglow microderm instant glow exfoliator • @drbarbarasturm face mask • @oseamalibu Undaria Algae Body Oil Personal tip: anything that takes more time, like a mask or leave-on scrubs, I utilize my shower time and multitask while I have conditioner in and am shaving my legs. 👌🧖‍♀️
