Elan, serving modern French cuisine is helmed by Chef Peter Teo. He has earned outstanding culinary skills and French technique knowledge under Les Amis, Bistro Du Vin (Hong Kong) and Batard (Hong Kong). Reasonably priced Elan 4-course set lunch ($60++ per guest) comprises of starter, main, dessert and a choice of coffee or tea. We decided to try different dishes! The starters started with one thick slab of seared foie gras (+$10) served on a bed of granny smith apples, yuzu, and topped with crunchy chopped almond. 😋 Carabinero prawns (+$20) comes with two grilled carabinero prawns served alongside with tagliolini pasta with sea urchin and yuzu sauce. Both prawns are fresh but absence of creaminess of the sea urchin. 🦐 Mains are Flank steak (+$15) lying side by side grilled wagyu flank steak m9, broccolini, potato with choron sauce. The steak was decently juicy and flavourful even thou we ordered a medium. A big slab of pan-seared Japanese seabream, sliced tomatoes and fennel ragout. A nice charred brown coating on the outside while keeping the inside soft, meaty texture with a clean taste. ❤️ Desserts are freshly baked orange madeleines with a scoop of dark chocolate ice cream. These bites are airy with crisp edges! 👍🏻 Banana creme brulee is served with caramelised banana as well as housemade rum ice cream. We were impressed with the dishes that we have ordered. The service was good and enjoyable thou there’s some hiccups at the beginning. Argentina is known for Empanadas, Provoleta, Chimichurri, Steak & more! Now, you can patron Argentinian pop-up at One-ninety Restaurant and One-Ninety Bar from now until the end of October. Highlights include Veal Tongue “Pampa Style”, Frog Legs “A la Provenzal”, Lomo Tenderloin, Gnocchi & Dulce de Leche Flan. You can expect tender Veal Tongue “Pampa Style” ($28) that is slow cooked for at least 3 hours. Crowd favourite goes to Frog Legs “A la Provenzal” ($38). These frog legs are sourced from France, nicely sauteed with garlic, butter, sages and white wine. Not forgetting the roasted potatoes that are soaked in the goodness of the finger licking good sauce. If you're a fan of smoky steak, Lomo Tenderloin (350g $65) is an ideal choice! Paired with chimichurri sauce, the Argentina way of having steak! The innocent looking Gnocchi ($32) might be an understatement on how good these homemade potatoes gnocchi are! They're perfectly chewy yet soft to bite with flavours from the sage butter and pecorino cheese. Ends the meal with an addictive Dulce de Leche Flan ($18). The flourless souffle ($18 for 2 pax) with grand mariner is a must-order (despite the waiting time for it to be freshly baked). It was so soft and fluffy - a cloud-like texture that melts once you bite into it. The dessert that I’ll come back specially for are these financiers. You can smell them before they even reach your table. The buttery scent whilst the ground almond flour gave this toasty nutty flavour - it’s difficult to stop at one.
