First #skitouring outing of the winter🗻, with an overnight stay in an unguarded, but full comfort refuge🛖! And to top it all off, the shock of the temperature (between minus 15 degrees and minus 5 degrees🧊) and the altitude (overnight stay at 2500 meters at the #albertheimhütte and maximum altitude of 3243 m), because a week ago I was still at the seaside with temperatures over 35 degrees in Thailand. I suffered a little on some of the climbs 😅 (and on the descent into the hard-packed snow🤭), wondered what I was doing there when the wind started blowing on the #tiefengletscher and I could hardly feel my hands😝, but I loved every minute of this epic weekend during which starting a fire🔥🪵 with cold wood and melting snow❄️ to make tea took us back in time and added a touch of survival mode (not to mention the loss of a ski by a member of the crack team). Thanks guys🦸🏻‍♂️, it was a lot of fun! Et en prime le choc de la température (entre -15°C et -5°C🧊) et de l'altitude (nuitée à 2500 mètres à l'Albert Heim Hütte et altitude maximum de 3243 m), car il y a une semaine j'étais encore au bord de la mer avec des températures à plus de 35 degrés en Thaïlande. J'ai un peu souffert dans certaines montées 😅 (et à la descente dans la neige cartonnée🤭), je me suis demandée ce que je faisais là quand le vent s'est mis à souffler sur le glacier du Tiefen et que je ne sentais presque plus mes mains 😝, mais j'ai adoré chaque minute de ce week-end épique pendant lequel faire un feu avec du bois froid🔥🪵 et faire fondre de la neige❄️ pour préparer du thé nous ont fait voyagé dans un autre temps et ont apporté une petite touche en mode survie (sans parler de la perte d'un ski par un membre de la team de choc). 🤳🏼Phu Quoc, Vietnam🇻🇳, 24.12.23 [...] Traveling solo for five weeks was one of the coolest things I've done in my life 🥳 I came home intrinsically happy and ready to go back to the office.❄️👩🏼‍💻 I'm not nostalgic, because I know I'll be able to relive the adventure of the trip whenever I want. I want to thank myself for being confiance🫴🏻 and for listening to my intuition at all times (and it has always been an extremely reliable guide and companion). At no time did I feel alone or lost.🤗 Everything was easy. I realized that all it takes is thinking about something💭 or wishing for it to happen. I left knowing that my trip would go well. 🫶🏻And as my dad says, I kind of followed my lucky star. I didn't have any health problems, I didn't miss any planes or buses, I never felt scared or uncomfortable. ☺️I've smiled and laughed a lot, often saying out loud "this is totally crazy", "how lucky I am to be here" or "I can't believe my eyes". When I couldn't find the answer to one of my questions, or even when I didn't know where to continue my journey, I spontaneously turned to the people around me, often other travelers. 😍Humans are great, humans love to share and help... Khao Lak (1h north of Phuket) was the last stop on my trip🔚 (before spending 13h in Bangkok between flights). It was also the only place where I stayed for more than 2 or 3 nights (4 nights on land and 1 night at sea). It's also where I had the chance to ring in the New Year, on a beach watching fireworks and lit lanterns fly off while dancing.🏮🎆💃🏼 Khao Lak is also the only "truly touristy" (mass tourism)🚸🧳 place I stayed in during my trip. I went there with the aim of diving🤿. When I arrived, I almost regretted having planned to spend only 4 and a half days there, but in the end, I'm really glad I decided to add Vietnam to my trip instead of spending two weeks in Khao Lak or southern Thailand (because the mass of Westerners coming to spend the festive season, the restaurants serving schnitzels and röstis quickly "exhausted" me.😜). There's something heavenly about the place itself.🌴🥥 My great good fortune was to have been advised by a local divemaster to stay in one of the five bungalows in Khao Lak Lum-Ru National Park, a jewel box of greenery🌿🦋 with a deserted beach just 20 m from my bungalow. Hearing the sound of the waves and seeing the sea from my bed🌊, swimming just after sunrise or just before sunset from the deserted beach will remain unforgettable moments🤩, moments when I had time to think back on my trip, the people I met, the magical landscapes, the 50 km race. ... moments also spent at méditer🙏🏼, thanking life, the universe for always guiding me to the right place, to the right people... 13 hours in Bangkok by way of au revoir👋🏻 to Asia with temple visits (always with the same magic✨, Thai temples have a special energy for me), a trip through a shopping mall (gigantic!) and a final pad thai🍲. A few more posts will follow, my trip isn't "technically" totally over (I still have a few hours to fly 😅) and I still have plenty of lovely photos to share with you. Embracing the essence of #Hanoi 🇻🇳 in 18 hours. Cloudy skies🌫️ couldn't dim the vibrant pulse of this city.🚂🏮 I stopped off briefly in Hanoi between my motorcycle tour of the Ha Giang region 🏍️ and my stay in Khao Lak to dive🇹🇭🤿. (I'm taking advantage of my first flight (out of four😅) to come back home to post a few "late" photos.) ___ Je me suis arrêtée brièvement à Hanoï entre mon tour à moto dans les montagnes de Ha Giang 🏍️ et mon séjour à Khao Lak pour plonger 🇹🇭🤿. Participating in the @doiinthanonthailandbyutmb 50 km race 🏃🏼‍♀️ in Chiang Mai was the goal of my 5-week trip, but the other thing I wanted to do was return to Thailand to dive, after visiting other countries in South-East Asia. And even with the addition of Vietnam🇻🇳 (more photos and videos to follow, by the way), which was initially not on my agenda (freedom of travel!), I managed to return to Thailand to dive🤿🇹🇭. When I arrived in Khao Lak, I thought I should have planned longer than 4 and a half days😅, but in the end it was the right length for me. I was able to do 6 dives in the #similanislands (with one night on a dive boat) and two at the famous Richelieu site (located near the Surin Islands). Lots of fish🐠 (especially at #richelieu!), even if visibility wasn't always perfect. My underwater favorites: a guitar ray (a mix of shark and ray), several blacktip sharks🦈, a gigantic Napoleon, scorpion fish, several species of "sweetlips" I'd never seen before, the magnificent clown triggerfish🤡 and passing through thousands of fish on the #richelieureef (I'd never seen so many fish at once!!!). Visibility wasn't always good because of the "Green Monster"🤢, a body of water that crosses the Similan Islands and is colder than the water around it, deteriorating visibility. But I'm not disappointed, because being underwater is something I love🥰 and it makes me happy. Every dive is a source of wonder for me!🙏🏼 (Diving is what initially made me leave Switzerland in 2008 to work for 3 years as a divemaster in southern Turkey). One of the coolest experiences of my trip (and maybe even of my life): the #hagiangloop by motorcycle 🏍️🇻🇳 in 3 days (approx. 340 km in total, 1st and 2nd day 90 km, 3rd day 160 km). Ha Giang is located north of Hanoi (about 6 hours by bus). ➿The Ha Gian Loop can be done in 3 or 4 days (I did it in 3) and it's possible to drive your motorcycle yourself or have a pilot. As I don't have an international driving license, I had to give up (somewhat reluctantly) on driving myself. But in the end, it was great to be able to fully enjoy the scenery from the back of the bike 🤩 (and also a little safer if you're not an experienced rider). The scenery was crazy crazy fous🏞️ (another post coming in a few hours)! Accommodation was in homestays.🛏️ Evenings (very cool (between 7 and 10 degrees🥶) were spent around a fire, doing karaoke and sipping happy water (corn alcohol🌽) with the locals. I chose (on the recommendation of another backpacker I met in Cambodia) to do the tour with @hagiangsafari and I wasn't disappointed: small group (there were 10 of us), hyper-careful drivers, great choice of itineraries and accommodation. __ L'une des expériences les plus cools de mon voyage (et même peut-être de ma vie): la boucle d'Ha Giang en moto 🏍️🇻🇳 en 3 jours (env. 340 km au total, 1er et 2e jour 90 km, 3e jour 160 km).
